  1. I also believe what Bob's said because of personal experience and from what other locals have said about their own. This country has over 70 million people, and like all other countries, has it's share of narcissistic, mean, prejudiced, hateful and deranged people. A lot of them don't like when you can speak fluent because they can't talk about you while you're there. I can't speak fluent but know a few of the statements, like those mentioned, along with many words in Thai. I know when they're talking about me and some of it hasn't been nice. I don't really care because in 67 years I've been around quite a few disturbed individuals like everyone else has, and there will always be those that haven't been taught as children respect for all races and nationalities. There is a lot of hatred here from the previous generations which is slowly losing strength as the younger are living in a more free environment, with many outside influences from media, and from parents who aren't so prejudiced in their beliefs. I hate no race, and have a half Thai daughter and a Thai girlfriend I love dearly, but I see from over 6 years living here, and from what I've heard way before I came here, both from those who've experienced Thai living, and from Thais themselves, what is really wrong with this country. There are a lot of really nice people here who accept for whatever reasons outsiders. Some of it is the hope they will get something from them, others from a curiosity about us, just like ours of them. Others like our cultures, especially music and movies, and want to know more about us. What Bob experienced isn't uncommon. Maybe the lady is going through a divorce, had a bad experience with a farang, doesn't like men in general etc. Maybe it was just like I and others said. They don't like farangs and want to talk about us in a derogatory fashion, and if we understand Thai, they can't do that, at least when we are around. I listen to everyone's posts here, and some you can tell they are kinda out there, and many are speaking from true experiences here. I don't think Bob is anti Thai, but a realist like I am, and sees what really is. There are some here that have definitely made up stories and have been caught out, like gg, and that's sad because it seems like it's for attention. Some like GG are so full of themselves they have to get attention by telling others he's a genius. which a true genius doesn't have to do. Some have had really bad experiences with a Thai woman, and hate everyone here because of it. I myself have been hurt by my ex here, but it isn't Thailand's fault but her parents why she turned out the way she did. In any event, what Bob has said happens, and many times in many ways, because of ignorance and prejudice, and it will be around until the younger crowd changes things, as they have been slowly. There are those that are brown nosers here, and think all locals are okay. There are those who have had a great experience with a Thai woman because she is given money and, smartly, doesn't take the man for granted and want more or think she "deserves" it. And there are those that don't trash all because of the actions of some.
  2. Mai mee means no.
  3. A lot grow Durian because it's very popular and tasty. Takes about 7 years to produce fruit from grafted trees, 8-10 from seeds, and they sell, but a lot of competition in it. Like some have mentioned, a lot of thieves in Thailand, especially in the country not protected areas. I have Rose Apple tree on the dirt road in front of my house, and the kids stole the first years fruit. This year it had about 100 buds, and they all disappeared overnight, not understanding why besides maybe birds. The one Mango I have that's mature had a few fruit stolen. Not easy to protect from a population that doesn't think much of their neighbors besides easy targets.
  4. They're trying to give tips that might deter someone who has bad intentions. A couple of them are kinda corny but it's in the right direction. Best thing is taking a picture of license plate and driver\s picture, and any other numbers on the car. Talking to a friend while being driven is also a good idea. Let's the driver know they are in touch with someone who can immediately give the police any information should anything happen. As far as being sexually harassed, of course that's total BS. Women aren't in the habit of doing this unless they are prostitutes and that's not harassment, asking if they want services. They can always say no. A predator usually won't admit his actions.
  5. This is the best answer to Lacessit's question. An exchange place in a major city should have in stock anything they advertise exchanging for. Common sense. I have seen this quite a few times in other scenarios. It seems, although a majority are poor or just get by, that they are lazy and don't want to do their jobs. Another thing I see here is lunch time breaks. In America, and I'm guessing most other places, they have a few different lunch break times, so some are always working. When I go to a place that works on my car, they all take breaks at the same time. There are at least 20 mechanics there at any one time, and they're all gone at once, so you have to wait the extra hour, even if your car is 10 minutes from finished.
  6. There are products you can try like Rogaine. Some work. Implants will work, quite a few places in Thailand. here's one........https://www.bangkokhairclinic.co.th/en/
  7. So the day before you're asking a man in a restroom if he left his kids and the next day you're in Australia buying a homeless man a bottle of wine? You must get a good salary cleaning the floors in that hospital so you can fly out to Thailand so many times (from previous posts about living here).
  8. You touch a raw nerve to the wrong person and you might end up waking up in an emergency room.
  9. Aren't you in Australia?
  10. Look up the word, restraint, and it's meaning. I'm not sure of your age but asking someone a question like that, which isn't anyone's business at all, shows the lack of restraint associated with a teenager. For one thing, anyone's past is no one's business whatsoever. That's something friends talk about among themselves after they get to know one another enough to trust them and their intentions. For two, asking a stranger that question could get you decked, especially if it's a sore subject and he's drunk. Lastly, what bar were you at that has hundreds of farangs in it? Most bars wouldn't accommodate more than one hundred and maybe up to 250 total, including workers and locals. Been a long time since I've been in a rock bar so they might have grown by now. Asking people you don't know on a forum is one thing, but in person is totally different.
  11. Ok, let me reiterate for you. How many of the 400,000 do you actually know? Of these, how many do you personally know cannot speak 10 words of Thai? Does this figure amount to most farangs?
  12. I think you might be hearing rubber trees dropping nuts, and not fruit trees. Hear them every time I step outside for a part of the year.
  13. Ok, so how many farangs out of the 4 million living here, that you know can't speak more than 10 words in Thai? I've been here over 6 years and only know personally about 40 farangs, mainly because I'm not a bar person and I live in Isaan., and I only know a few that can speak Thai, because I've never asked them if they could or not. I still would never say most of them can't speak Thai, and we're only talking about 40 out of 4 million. That's only 0.001%
  14. You still missed my point, and assume I don't understand polls. These are your words........This is true, most farangs can't speak more than 10 words You don't know but a tiny fraction of one percent of the farangs worldwide. This does not amount to "most" farangs, no matter if there\s a poll taken or not.
  15. It doesn't list the countries but says 7th...............https://www.khaosodenglish.com/news/crimecourtscalamity/2013/04/11/1365696199/
  16. What is the domestic violence rate in Thailand? Physical harm accounted for 22%, followed by suicides at 14%, sexual violence at 8.1%, and other forms of abuse at 3.5%. These findings reveal a troubling inclination towards severe violence within Thai families, a matter that the nation should address with urgency.Oct 5, 2566 BE
  17. Remember how you say I and others are somehow missing your point in some of your posts? Well, you missed my point here.
  18. 6 of 1, a half dozen of another.
  19. That's how many people the average 73 year old meets in a lifetime.
  20. I see you, among others that post here, think they know what "most" farangs do. You do realize how many farangs there are in the world right? How many do you really actually know? My guess would be far below what the average do by the time they are 73, which is 80,000. Since you are 50, I would guess maybe 55,000. And meeting them isn't knowing them, at least as far as their foreign language vocabulary. This is out of a population of maybe 4 billion non Asians worldwide. This means those 55,000 are but 0.001375% of that population, but you'll have to subtract most of those because you again, don't know them well enough to know what languages they might speak. So, wouldn't you say that you don't really know what most farangs do?
  21. I have disagreed with you at times, but here you're right on. Having knowledge of other countries is definitely a plus, as you can't really know a people unless you've lived amongst them.
  22. I for one have no jealousy of those that are doing better. That's a goal to reach, nd when you have children, it's mandatory to do the best you can for them. There is always a way out.
  23. Being a step parent is far from a joke. It might be the only male role model these kids will have, and having a father figure is a lot more important that many realize, especially for girls that need to grow up seeing their moms treated well, so they can find the same in a partner. Boys need to learn how to treat women from a good male role model, as their peers are mostly clueless, especially in a country like this with so many absent fathers and children that are raised by grandma. Your last sentence is the first one that actually makes sense.
  24. Thank God for the children that weren't made.
  25. And you don't realize that those "men" who have mi noi's aren't men but boys that haven't grown up enough to recognize the value of a woman? That they have children and don't do much if anything at all as far as teaching them the same values? Brainwashed by treating women right? As in feminism. Do you not understand woman's equality? What's tragic is that you actually believe your own bulls*it. And sadly, some others here do also. As far as Thai males thinking those that take care of children are jokes, it's them that are the real jokes. A man that doesn't lend a hand to help raise his own children is a complete wasted life. A woman cannot make a man out of a boy, and an absent father can't either. One reason so many treat women like they're some kind of inferior object is not having fathers that were men. They leaned it from their own useless fathers and generations here are affected by this illness. Women make the worse mistake of their lives having sex with these losers, and their kids suffer because of it.
