Are Thai teens more mature than West
fredwiggy replied to georgegeorgia's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
It's the hardest thing to find in anyone's life. A good partner is a blessing to your well being , hers, and of any children born. A bad woman is a curse on society and half of the reasons the world has so many problems now. My ex is a real problem because her mother had 11 children and didn't have the capability or desire to love them properly, one after another so the next in line gets more attention than the previous ones, which leads to them growing up mostly by themselves, looking elsewhere for attention and gui8dance, which usually comes at a price. This is where narcissism is created. You grow up without attention , and or abuse and neglect, and maybe the opposite, a golden child that's spoiled, you create a society monster, who takes out the anger on the rest of the world. -

That all comes with maturity or the lack thereof. The world's population is twice as much as it would be if children didn't have children with children, and waited until they were more mature so they could properly take care of the children being created instead of pawning them off with grandma, who could be totally incompetent to take care of a youngster. Being a father means you teach your children so they grow up with a brain capable of taking care of themselves and possibly others, and that starts watching your parents while you're growing up in their household. Thai teens lack maturity and are far behind those of equal age in the west because the west cares more for their offspring. They have them driving scooters at age 8 and doing farm work early, which some might think is showing them how to grow up faster, the opposite of what should happen. -
That's why they need better enforcement here. And less corruption. If you fine the poor, you take away their neded money, they learn a hard lesson so they might not break the laws again, and maybe save their lives.

Helmets should be worn everywhere. The US has laws in 20 states where you have to wear them. Thailand has it everywhere, yet the laws aren't enforced but in large cities, and the most deaths here happen because of people not wearing helmets on motorbikes, which far outnumber the amount of motorbikes in a much larger country. All fines should go towards whatever the needs for money are, the court system and helping the poor being two.

Because they affect someone sometime.

Do not drive drunk. You said earlier you can do this here but back home you couldn't get away with it, meaning Thailand has more freedom because of this but the daily deaths and accidents show someone isn't following the laws on the books. The US has many accidents but most involve phone use and drunk driving. You can get caught driving drunk here and might only get a slap on the wrist, whereas back in the US, you get a fine, loss of driving privileges, and sometimes jail, even on the first offense, and it also goes on your record in a national computer database which is easily checked, and subsequent offenses are harsher. Here, you can get caught in every province and they might never know if you ever did, so it would look like a first offense to them.

The want for more protection of it's people maybe? The position it has in the world trade market , dealing with all countries worldwide and the need to ensure America isn't targeted by outsiders wanting to hurt it's people or resources.

I never said we didn't need 5000 laws. I said we need laws, and you said we didn't. Most laws would never affect me so I wouldn't dare to make an opinion on them. You also said 50 laws are enough. What are those? At least tell us one law that's there you know of that's unnecessary.
-
Your opinion doesn't mean anything, as these laws are passed whether you like it or not. You stated we don't need 5000 laws. All I asked is for you to tell us which laws you deem unnecessary. If you don't care, then you shouldn't make such a statement because any argument needs backing. You said the US has much less freedom than Thailand, which is a falsehood. This is a suppressed country.
-
You said we don't need 5000 laws, so how would you know what laws are unnecessary if you don't know the laws in the first place? I made it easy for you, since I know you like Wikipedia. You can't dispute this,m as these laws are actually on the books. There are quite a few here, so you can spend a few hours seeing what laws are in effect and come back later and tell us which you feel are unnecessary............https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_United_States_federal_legislation

You said we don't need 5000 laws, so you must know at least some we don't need. It's called backing up your argument.
-
Anywhere. You quickly stated we don't need 5000 laws. I'm asking for you to tell which specific laws are unnecessary anywhere.Since this is about comparing Thailand to the US, where you said had less freedom, start with the US.

Or sitting on mom's lap while she was driving, which she seems to have tried to cover up by removing some of the data from the camera. This follows driving on scooters with 4-5, one holding a newborn, standing upright on the seat, all without helmets. -
I think the laws are necessary. You thought we didn't need 5000. Tell me which ones you think are not needed to bolster your statement.

Newborn Baby Found Dead in Rubbish Bag on Roadside Near Pattaya
fredwiggy replied to Georgealbert's topic in Pattaya News
A lot more than that, they need to understand the value of a life. Someone could have taken care of that baby if the mother felt she couldn't. -
You said we don't need 5000 laws. I asked which ones you thought were unnecessary.

What laws don't we need?

Human nature has people with free will , to do whatever they want. laws are there so people are protected from people who think they can hurt others and get away with it. If there were no laws, you might not be here if you have any enemies. People, meaning all, have two sides, a good and a bad, and most waver somewhere in between. Some are plain evil, being raised in an abusive and or neglected environment, where all they saw was pain, and now it's their turn to inflict pain on others, because they can't get back on those who taught it in the first place. Some, very few, are born with an genetic predisposition to be anti social, and this, along with a bad environment, has them being anti social. Many are raised to be empathic, wanting to help others and these are the targets for the anti social. It's impossible for everyone to jsut be nice, as we all come from different family backgrounds, and for some it was hectic since birth.

Laws are there to protect others. No laws and more people do whatever they want, victimizing others while the police look the other way because of bribes. Freedom means you can elect whoever you want, majority winning, and they'll take office and hopefully help the public. Freedom means you can trash talk anyone, as long as you don't threaten them, with no repercussions, meaning your opinion is heard and you're not shot or disappear for it. Freedom means you can protest in public with no one shooting at you or firing water cannons to disperse you to shut you up.
-
You, maybe?, and many others, drive without a license here because they don't care to enforce their own laws. This isn't about freedom but a lack of care for it's citizens. many things here allowed because someone is getting a bribe for them. Look back at the many protests that have taken place and how many were killed trying to get changes. Tak Bai, 1976, a military run government where people have no say, someone elected into office and another replaces him after he won the majority of the votes, February 18, 2014, May 17-20 1992, 2010 crackdown where 6 died, these and others aren't what happens when freedom is in place and don't happen in the west...............https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2020–2021_Thai_protests.

The difference in being able to drive and ability to read a map is quite considerable. If you're deaf and can't read a map, you might be in a little trouble but there are options. I wouldn't assume how many Thais can't read a map because I only know a few hundred, and not much personally, out of over 77 million. I do agree that many I've seen aren't that swift at driving, take too many chances and are arrogant, along with incompetent. -
The draft ended in 1973 and I graduated in 1974, so I was lucky. Turned 18 in 1974. After seeing what went on there and how good soldiers died in many ways, I thought I was lucky to miss it.

What made you to take the jump and move to Thailand

The beaches are being ruined all over, but there still is an attraction the country doesn't have. Food isn't a good reason to live anywhere as good food is available everywhere. Living in proximity to things you like are best. Close to a big city but away from the madness.
