Yes, that is what we wanted and that is why we voted to leave the E.U.
We voted for Brexit for the reason that people couldn't just cross the English channel without having visas when required or having their passports checked .
Yes, those rules will also apply to Brits going in the other direction to France
Understandable.
Was that the only reason?

Not the whole country, but it certainly brought Dover and the motorway to a standstill. And a lot of Remainers exaggerated complaints about it.
Just six Frenchmen who forgot to turn up to work? Some here are still trying to tell us it was all due to Brexit. It clearly does make a difference. Eurostar fine. Flying fine.
I wrote county.
Yes, the claim is that there were too few booths manned initially. So six Frenchmen?
I haven't actually read anything about what was happening at Dover. It only came to my notice via this thread.

The Spanish perform the same border checks infinitely more efficiently than the French. The Spanish have more border guards and better systems than the French and weren’t trying to harass British travellers last weekend. Are people travelling to Spain via ferry now? Don't you get embarrassed putting your thoughts in writing?
You might note that the Eurostar doesn't have the same issue. French officials there don't seem to have an issue with the British. Just at Dover it seems, that six Frenchmen being late for work can bring the whole county to a standstill.
Nothing to do with Brexit? Would it have happened if not for Brexit?

I hope it's okay to mention "I found <350 thb/gram here in Pattaya." Went looking for the Bong Party on Walking Street. It was closed but, an industrious young man had set up shop on folding tables with at least 10 different strains. I asked for Thai stick, he had. So I bought a little baggie with 3 grams for 200 baht. I'm a pipe smoker so I just had about 3+ tokes from that and I have say, it works for me. And at 66.66 baht a gram, I also happy. Don't get me wrong, it's not up there with that 700 baht Mimosa I have but it's 66.66 baht.
My guess is Thai Stick of different kinds will hit the market any second now because, after all, cannabis grow like a weed here.
Tourist price ???? Local market selling 10 grams for 200 baht, for example. I wonder if the guys selling on Beach Road have adjusted their pricing. Was 500 baht for 12.5 grams; so you actually paid more than the rate before liberalisation.

Thanks, I have not seen the packaging close up but it says 100 % Butter ,
most of the other "Butters" are a mixture of other stuff ,butter
oil, milk powder , ??? Orchid are supposed to have a 100 %
butter too but it's nearly 800 Baht for 2 Kg. , I am old enough
to remember those old grocery shops ,in the window big barrel of
real butter from Denmark, I don't know whether its my taste buds
but nothing seems to taste like it used too .
regards worgeordie
If you want it to taste as you remember, you'll need to spend more on the 'good' stuff.
Butter actually made from fresh double cream, as opposed to a mix of ingredients that resembles butter.

I need to have a pair of New Balance sewn on, does anyone know where I could have this done in Jomtien or Pattaya?
If in Jomtien, there is a cobbler on the road behind Rompho Market.

On the Makro click web page they have the Orchid blends , but also
one 2 kg pack Orchid which they say is 100 % butter, its 782 Baht so might be ?
Do you know anyone selling real butter at sensible price in Thailand. ?
regards worgeordie
But it isn't, unless you count a product containing butter oil and skimmed milk as butter.
Their butter blend contains 37% butter oil and their '100%' butter contains 80% butter oil.

Thank you for your clarifications however I stay in Thailand only 41 days a year and my number is used in particular with Bangkok Bank. On the other hand, do you know how to extend my number to 365 days and not 180 days?
As I pointed out to you, you can keep your number. Asking for a MNP code doesn't change your status. You have to actually give that code to another provider if you want to port the number. Otherwise it just expires after 30 days.
Extension? Just change the number to 30 or 90. Using a combination of those numbers, you should be able to get close to 365 days.
Activate International Roaming on the SIM now; so that you have the option of applying the extension codes when you are out of the country.
Activate roaming service by keying in *118# on the phone keypad and then pressing the call button. You'll get a text message in confirmation.

That is (relatively) terrible. 799 baht + VAT equalling 854.93
If you take a new DTAC number , you can get unlimited 15 Mbps for 1400 baht covering a 12 month period(equivalent to 117 baht per month) or you can take an unlimited 8 Mbps as a 30 day pack @ 150 baht. If you want to keep your number whilst doing so, you have two choices; Port your number to another network and avail yourself of the new SIM unlimited packs from 150 baht per 30 days or call DTAC for your MNP code and once you get it, suggest to them that you won't move if they can apply capped speed unlimited pack to your account.

I pay 195 baht for 500 grams of Anchor butter. I'd prefer something like Waitrose Organic. Though at 259 baht(£5.84) for 250 grams, instead of £2.40 in the UK, I don't justify it to myself ????
-
Orchid is also not 100% butter, but a butter 'blend'.

It's not 100% butter and it's not butter as you know it. Even though it states 100% on the outside, the ingredients prove otherwise.
https://www.centuryhousedairy.com
The closest thing they have to butter is their Lactic Butter and even that is not 100%:
• Milk cream 98% • Maltodrextrin 0.7% • Emulsifier (INS-471, INS-475) 1.3%

butter , 100 % butter made in Thailand, 5 kg 1,165 Baht = 235 Baht Kg,
cut up in useable pieces it will last 12 months if kept in freezer
they have 1 kg sizes at 295 Baht at local bakery supply shop.
blame Covid , Ukraine ,?
regards worgeordie
Same. Related to butter.
If you are referring to Homefresh Gold:
57% milk cream (41% fat, 16% milk) Butter Oil 41% • Maltodrextrin 0.7% • Emulsifier (INS-471, INS-475) 1.3%
That's not butter as I know it.
Compare it to a standard product bought in the U.K.

Cream,
Salt (1.8%)

Fine if you like NZ , I prefer mature English Cheddar
You wrote "Imported mature cheddar". No mention of English nor it's provenance.
Is all Mature English cheddar of the same quality? I also enjoy a good quality British cheddar. Duchy Organic is creamy, buttery and tasty....though pricey in Thailand.

Only real down-side to second hand machines these days is the risk of BIOS Virus or Rootkit. So even if you completely wipe the hard disk, write zeros to it and then re-format and install OS of your choice, you will still have the virus. Running Linux reduces that chance as most of the Viruses will only infect Windoze machines, but there is still a risk.
These are primarily 'ransomeware' viruses.
For a simple web-browsing computer as the OP seems to be looking for, it's okay. Personally I would avoid doing online banking or similar on a 2nd hand machine that who-knows-what cracked illegal software was on beforehand, which is one of the top vectors for Virus infection.
I doubt that you have ever encountered a 'BIOS virus' in your whole life, let alone encountered one on a second hand device. Windows 98 anyone?
People seem to just take the opportunity to post the most ridiculous things they can think of that they have read and then put them in writing here.
Unless you are an activist or some such, forget about any such scenario. If you want to be sure, Kaspersky offers a Firmware Scanner.

We have folk who are just anti anything, others who are waaaay to the left and show it, and of course the fruitcake element, but it is generally good fun. ????
I guess I take it seriously and want to understand all sides. But it always looks like an argument between rival football team supporters, rather than a discussion of the finer points of the game.

I am not judging your standard of education. I am only interested in reasoned discussion of your beliefs. You might genuinely have information of interest.
But most of what I read from the 'Brexiteers' involves abuse towards anyone they regard as 'left leaning'. It's a bit sad. Like teasing in the playground.

Is this one a decent deal do think Bruno?
Last one I had was 8Mbps for12 months and it was quite good for my needs.
It's fine if you are sure that you won't use more than 3 GB per day. But have you bothered to call them to see what they will offer? Asking for you MNP code often moves them in to action. Unlimited 8 Mbps is available for 150 baht per 30 days.
