OP you're on a mobile network so there are a lot of different factors. If you're high up in a building, far away from the cell tower, there are obstructions between you and the tower, or this tower is congested...all can affect your quality. If you're then converting that mobile signal to wifi there are other issues too. Sometimes simply increasing the bandwidth package you're subscribed to can fix the problem but sometimes not depending on the issue. You can do speedtests with local devices to determine some of that or I think if you just contact AIS support you could buy a one day "boost" or maybe even get it for free if you explain the situation and test it to see if it's suitable.

 

 

I doubt if the OP is streaming news and football matches in 4K anyway.

Increasing the bandwidth package won't make a difference if the bandwidth isn't available in his location in the first place.

Speed tests firstly; current and with a one day full speed pack. No need to contact AIS support for that.

Then the OP can tell us exactly what equipment is in use.

One thing you should know it that you are paying waay too much, if you are paying "the maximum amount". 

30 Mbps connections are available for 235 baht per month with AIS.

You can buy a 4G router, from around 1400 baht if you don't want to deplete the batteries on the expensive devices.

*777*70# will do for testing. Gives you 100MB in volume for 9.63 baht.

*777*7022# gives 600MB for 21.40 baht. You can use that for a speed test and also to check if the buffering still takes place with a 'full speed' pack.

10 Mbps is good enough. Chances are you aren't receiving 10 Mbps in the first place.

Don't bother using Speedtest as suggested, use https://testmy.net

Little point in buying a higher speed rated SIM from the same network, if the network cannot offer you 10 Mbps in the first place. Though that would be unusual for AIS.

So start with the speed test.

Either way, as you state, it's done now. You can fix it after 90 days. You were just a bit too hasty ????

It would have been "now" if you had simply bought the 49 baht prepaid SIM as suggested many times within your thread. Top up and tap a code on the phone keyboard(they could have done it for you in the shop) before placing it into the modem and that's it. No commitment, US$5.58 monthly and the same speed as you are getting now.

You didn't need to talk to anyone at all.

I think you seem confused with regards to bandwidth and data volume. 

The bandwidth offered is up to 100 Mbps, that doesn't mean that she is actually obtaining 100 Mbps. In fact it's not possible to reach that 100 Mbps figure under normal circumstances.

What if she only gets 30 Mbps at her particular location?

So now let's look at data volume. She paid for 300 GB of data; a limited amount and has to buy more.

So if, for example, only 30 Mbps was available to her at her location, an unlimited 30 Mbps would suit her better.

Run a speed test to find out.

She can download and exchange information at 30 Mbps. I don't believe that she is pulling down 100 Mbps. I await the speed test results for when she is back. No one gets 100 Mbps. ven under ideal conditions with carrier aggregation in place.

So now you confirm that she has to buy even more data.

Better to have unlimited in the first place...for much less.

Tourist or not, it makes no difference. Does she obtain 100 Mbps? I doubt it. Get here to run a speed test using https://testmy.net when she's around.

In essence, she is paying 1250 baht for 300 GB of data. Whereas someone on an unlimited 15 Mbps connection could theoretically utilise 150 GB per day. That would be the 300 GB allowance gone in forty eight hours.

Unlimited 15 Mbps connection with unlimited free calls to any networks, costs 200 baht.

Unlimited 30 Mbps costs from 235 baht per 30 days. Is your daughter pulling down more than 30 Mbps? I doubt it.

As I wrote earlier; she paid 1000 baht too much.

All networks are currently offering unlimited 15 Mbps(1.875 MB/s) with unlimited calls to any network(15 minutes per call) for 200 baht per 30 days. Package must be applied to the new SIM within seven days of SIM activation.

That would be my all round recommendation. I don't post codes here any more, but they are easily found.

You could have done better yourself, no need for a random booth.

Where the speculation? I recount my own experience, as I am currently using the products that I recommend. 

The difference is that I don't send people to places where they'll get ripped.

Don't just send people off to "any phone booth". They are more likely to end up paying over the odds.

Best to get a 50 baht SIM, top up with mobile data off and apply the pack that you want, yourself.

AIS, DTAC and Truemove H all have exactly the same deal; 30 days of 15 Mbps with unlimited any network calls, for 200 baht. 50 baht for the SIM. Phone booth may add something extra, as they did with your 'mate'.

Best current deal is with AIS; 15 Mbps unlimited with free calls to all networks(15 minutes per call). 200 baht plus the cost of the SIM.
