I called it "exotic" and the fact that it does not show in any of the market share statistics confirm that fact.

It might be a wonderful program and if anybody wants to use it that is perfectly fine with me.

But in my experience people have fewer problems with mainstream products. They mostly work and support is easy to find because lots of people use them.

Personally I have 3 browsers installed on my PC. Edge, Chrome and Firefox. And for at least 90% of the websites which I use it does not matter which one I use. And if one website does not work without any problem in one of them then I use another one. Problem solved.

I can't remember the last time I made a test which one is faster or better in any other way. They all do their job.

So what does any exotic browser do which a mainstream browser does not do? There might be something. But it seems until now I didn't miss that extra functionality or maybe 10% performance difference. So at least personally I don't see the point of using something exotic.

For someone who claims to have been an IT Professional for 30 years, a somewhat surprising opinion.

These browsers are not 'exotic'. They have the same basis as the Chrome Browser, but often with the tracking and data collection capabilities stripped out.

The Chromium projects include Chromium and Chromium OS, the open-source projects behind the Google Chrome browser and Google Chrome OS, respectively. This site houses the documentation and code related to the Chromium projects and is intended for developers interested in learning about and contributing to the open-source projects.

So anyone can build a similar Browser,(In fact Microsoft have with their new EDGE Browser) but can choose block all Ads and Third Party Tracking capabilities, instead of the 'selected' choices that Google might choose for their version.

If other words, Google, to make sure that the money keeps spinning for them, all of their Tracking goes unhindered.

Not everyone wants Google to know where they are and what they are doing, every single minute of the day.

Each page you open on the web will have Facebook and Google Tracking your every move. Unless your Browser blocks them by Default or allows you to block them.

Your argument is based on market share?? Sorry, but that is just crazy. Chrome, Opera and now EDGE all have the same engine.

Opera has been purchased by a Chinese company. You think that they have you best interests at heart.

You now need to go in and tweak the Browser to get the best out of it.

Brave and other Browser based on the same engine try to offer another path. In other words, we will block all Tracking, but we understand the Internet works on advertising, so we will try another way.

Or they find another revenue stream. It's really not that difficult to fashion a new Browser using the Chromium engine. I could do it myself and have a secure Browser with no market share at all.

Your assertion simply doesn't hold any water.

I have 2 SIMs from different providers. And an older True-H SIM that was for data only sitting in my 3G router.

Can't fit more in my phone at the moment. I'll cal 1242 and ask.

In that case, you can keep the old Truemove H 3G SIM alive by applying *934*180# to add 180 days to it's validity date (Will cost 12.84 baht) and buy a new SIM for 50 baht to replace it. The phone number isn't important in a 3G router.

The phone SIMs you can port to another network to keep the number, if Truemove H cannot give you a new SIM with the same number that allows you to subscribe to the 10 Mbps pack.

Errrrr no. From January 23rd (because I rang Oman themselves in Leeds) the lower classes of economy when online check in opens at 48 hours pre wheels up are now chargeable....I will emphasise again lowest classes of economy ticket. All seats are chargeable but if you wait till airport check in opens all seats left are then free.

Now if you had a work around fine but nonetheless they're chargeable at outset and flying back Muscat London 12 days ago thank christ I paid the 335 Baht for aisle as it was jammed packed solid flight

Erm...yes. They cannot retrospectively charge on tickets purchased prior to that date.

So mine should have been and were free. The problem is that is gave the impression they were chargeable, when they were not.

    It's not a work-around, you simply assumed.

Oman is slowly eradicating its product as well.

3 days ago effective no longer any checked bag included on the cheapest fares.

Only thing thats keeping me active is that Oman Duty free at Muscat is the cheapest of all the UAE areas and dont query how much you buy lol

They to have red carded the fast track immigration cards for Silver/Gold Sindbad holders (might still get in Biz class)

In addition all seats pre booked at the 48 hour opening of check in now are chargeable for the lower economy classes. First time ever last week I paid a fee for an aisle seat (on any airline)....even middle seats are chargeable if seat class is low.....only reverts to free at airport check in

Erm...you shouldn't have paid anything. They tried the same with me and their reply a month later was just idiotic. That rows 20 & 21 are chargeable with all others being free. Morons. I already explained to them that ALL seats were showing as chargeable.

But what I think occurs is that the seats are shown as chargeable online, but if you actually select them and continue, the charge comes up as zero.

I did this, even though it initially showed as chargeable. Paid nothing and my seats were already reserved on arrival.

Qatar's backroom customer service is absolute pants. For that reason they will always be a last resort.

OK, thanks, I'll ask them next time I'm close to one. It's normally over 1 hour drive, so won't bother just for this.

The other option is to port the number over to another network and sign up with the new network's SIM or just get another SIM for 50 baht and then add the package. The same pack you have now will just cost 150 baht per month. You can also add unlimited calls to it for 50 baht per month. Depends on your phone and/or your situation.

I have a separate SIM just for mobile data.

He allegedly sent the money immediately to accounts in Singapore and Hong Kong and perhaps onwards from there.

His other scams include trying to sell a hotel on Phra Tamnak Soi 4 that he no longer owned, because of non payment of debts.

How does that work then? Postpaid SIM, or auto recharge every month?

Can I take my old SIM and change it to new with the same number, and avail from the offer?

To be honest, the internet offerings and pricing is a total disaster. From all service providers, not only True.

    1. New Prepaid SIM, from any network. Just make sure that you have 150/200 baht before the renewal date and the promo will auto-renew, for up to 12 months.

    2. You'll need to ask at a Truemove H service centre.

But, but, but - the Tourism Minister said the virus would be wiped out by Songkran because it (the virus) didn't like hot weather !

"Thailand's tourism minister: Everything will be fine after Songkran - the hot weather will blow the virus away!"
    https://forum.thaivisa.com/topic/1149863-thailands-tourism-minister-everything-will-be-fine-after-songkran-the-hot-weather-will-blow-the-virus-away/

Of course, this is the same Minister who just yesterday issued an order that arrivals from 11 different countries would be required to "self-quarantine" for 14 days after arriving in Thailand !! (https://thethaiger.com/hot-news/coronavirus/thai-health-minister-laughs-at-media-when-asked-about-his-travel-restrictions-document)

"Tuesday evening’s post said travellers from affected countries would be subjected to a 14 day quarantine “without exceptions

He quickly deleted the post (after it caused an uproar), then he closed his Facebook account altogether (then announced that he "has many Facebook accounts to communicate with the public").

He also denied knowing about the order, despite it clearly having his signature on it !
"When Thai media reached out for comments from the Minister at Government House, Anutin denied any knowledge about the matter.

“I’m also wondering how the document ended up there, since I haven’t signed it. It’s still in my room. (That’s HIS signature on the bottom of the official letters)."

(The 11 countries listed include: China, South Korea, Japan, Germany, France, Singapore, Italy, Iran, Taiwan, and the Chinese territories of Hong Kong and Macau. The Public Health Ministry has said the list of countries would be reviewed.)

You have quoted the Tourism Minister and the Health Minister. There are not one and the same.

Unless we are thinking about categories of people and things.

  9. Removing the SATA I limitation will have a more obvious effect than adding more RAM.

Whilst RAM might be faster than SATA connections, you still need to load programs in to RAM.

You are limiting your Thinkpad X61s to HDD like performance. IBM set the limitation for exactly that reason. To improve compatibility with old technology.

But now there is an SSD fitted, you need to remove the SATA I limitation.

I am not altogether surprised that someone claiming 30 years in the business did not know this. One can get tunnel vision, concentrating on what you already know, without learning or admitting that you need to learn, anything new.

I'm sure anyone with any useful experience will understand that my advice is spot on.

It is the passenger who appears to state that she turned on GPS on her phone.

Does this work with all sims?

my partner adds 50 baht a day for 1gb of internet which lasts her 3 hours

If Truemove H, they may be able to offer her a new SIM with the same number. That way they can put her on the unlimited 10 Mbps deal for 200 baht per month with unlimited calls just 50 baht more.

695.5 baht for 30 days of 4 Mbps is a bit much in this day and age. Especially when 10 Mbps is available for so much less.

He can mitigate that cost by subscribing to 90 days of 4 Mbps for 1284 baht.

But more importantly, whether the 4 Mbps is unlimited may depend on the age of your girlfriend's existing SIM. If more than one year old, the 4 Mbps pack posted be SpaceKadet might work. If less than that, you might have a capped amount of data volume in addition to the capped speed.

So check the date she activated the SIM.

If the SIM was activated after the 1st of Feb 2019, it won't work. An alternative then would be 90 days of 4 Mbps(capped at 20 GB per month) for 950 baht. *900*3991#

It's not as simple as SpaceKadet suggests.

Alternatives for now are 8 GB over 7 days for 160 baht *900*1705#

I need more RAM and not an updated BIOS. What is so difficult to understand about that?

If I wanted to have tips how to improve the performance of my notebook then I would have asked for that.

I didn't ask for that because I know enough about computer myself. It's my job since forever.

You need to learn to control your temper. Angry only makes stupid.

You think that you need more RAM because of what you perceive as 'page swapping' when usage goes above your hardware limit.

If this is the case, the swaps are bottle-necked by the BIOS led SATA I limitation.

Your Chipset has SATA II specification. So removing the BIOS imposed SATA I limitation, you effectively double the speed of your SSD. Et voila! Everything happens more quickly.

As I wrote earlier, I believe myself, rather than your claim that you already know it all.

In fact I modify the BIOS myself.

Always better to stay quiet about your supposed credentials, as there is always someone around who knows a lot more, but doesn't boast about it.

So this is a mod that you can do without spending any money at all. Why get angry?

As an aside, I buy 4 GB PC5300 SoDIMM modules for 600 baht each.  But since you have made it clear that you don't need my help, I will choose the way which I will help you.

You could also try Advice. They usually have most parts, or can order it.

These blue/whitish shops are in all provinces. Might be cheaper than buying off ebay.

I've googled it and only 2 x 2 GB showed up.

P.S. I've just checked Lazada and found some very good WD 240 GB SSD (SSD) WD GREEN SATA 3 Year Warranty SYNNEX NAVA IT GROUP for 990 baht! ( Before 2,500)

    https://www.lazada.co.th/products/240-gb-ssd-wd-green-sata-3-synnex-nava-it-group-i257631715-s396934434.html

WD Green SSD are bulk standard and the price, of around £25, is quite usual. They were not 2500 baht in recent times.

WD Blue a bit better, but they are really just rebranded Sandisk Ultra SSD.
