Sure, maybe still better than nothing, but think I would find the whole experience frustrating, and it's very much settling for second best. And no bars or restaurants are selling beer, so left with the 'back door' option, sorry but just don't see the point.
I found nothing frustrating about the 7 provinces i drove through.
I also had beers at several different place.
I certainly see the point but up to you...

But there will be restrictions, checks in place, etc. Places closed down, social distancing, 10pm curfew, everyone wearing masks, avoiding each other, the list goes on. What really is the point as don't sound like much fun to me??
It's certainly good to get out that's for sure.
You'll need to get used to masks being in place for a while yet, don't think they'll go away anytime soon.
I was recently away, went out for beers / food / saw friends i'd not seen in a while it was great for morale. I will head off again in a couple of weeks for another 4-5 day break somewhere, trying to figure out a trip to Krabi ATM.
Agreed about curfew but i'm up early, go do stuff early then drink in the afternoons so the curfews not an issue for me.

me too.
i am right there with you.
i am planning to hit the road a second they open travel to other parts of Thailand.
one way to look at it is to be appreciative of being able to travel when you can. i was taking Thailand for granted as I had traveled so much but now i will be super happy to hit the road.
at least there is a series of dates May 17 malls, June 1st maybe travel for Thai tourists.
It's very possible now to travel throughout thailand from what i've seen.

It could actually work.
Our condo in KL had a chilled pool, it wasn't that cold but after a sweaty day on site it was absolute bliss ????

Any alternate water that's not ambient temp right now would be a bonus, it's certainly el scorchio!

About 62kg of ice would cool 1,000L by 5C. A much smaller "farang shower" tank would use much less ice of course.
I did post with my tongue place firmly in my cheek of course ????
I'll bet the local aircon man would be able to knock up something to chill a smallish tank nicely.
EDIT A practical idea.
A 200L "cold" tank with the evaporator from an 8,000BTU aircon would cool by 10C in an hour.
It would cost about 4 Baht in electricity.
The cold tank idea is interesting....

Domestic travel is possible but as mentioned, incredibly hot at the minute!
Lots of great domestic trips to do

A 62kg block of ice would be very difficult to insert in a standard 1000 litre vertical tank, it would drop 5C with a starting temp of?
Like you say though, i'm sure there's a 'Thai' fix.
Right now the water that sits in the pipe static is getting incredibly hot, i've by-passed my surface tanks and go straight from the well, much much cooler. Bit dodgy tho if a valve gets closed before shutting off sub pump!!

booking.com has rooms available.
Agoda has never stopped showing available rooms since the start of the lockdown but ideally i'd like first hand experience.
Thx

"Songkran" style block or two from the local ice man?
Drop in the tank a bit before your shower, bliss.
For a 1000litre tank ( if full ) you'd need a massive amount of ice to cool it down from ambient outside temp.

I go to all types of bars, nightclubs, live music venues, and gentleman's clubs. Did you say you don't actually live in Pattaya?
I've already explained my association with Pattaya for your reference ( at least twice now ).

It's called sarcasm. Meaning, buyers are paying over the odds here.
It's worth what someone is willing to pay, simple as that.
If someone is paying over market value more fool them.
When buying if you're not embarrased by the initial offer you give then it's too high.

I do appreciate the quiet time, but I don't like it this quiet. Once again, you don't actually live in Pattaya. Right?
I know all that Pattaya has to offer. I've even done some of the cheesy tourists things.
In case you haven't noticed, the bar scene aka hospitality industry, is the biggest economic driver in Pattaya.
You need to pay attention, i lived in Pattaya 2003-2011 (ish) in a house.
I still maintain a condo in Pratumnak that i visit maybe once a month for about 4-5 days each time.
I know pattaya very well, don't worry about my knowledge of that.

Makes sense but i'd imagine won't happen due to lost revenue.

Unfortunately for you, an antibody test would be of no use to you as its likely you don't have any. The obvious way forward is to have the vaccine and then be tested for antibodies. Can't see that being available any time soon.
I live in Pattaya and have a family. Just before the lockdown, I had an echo cardiogram in a local hospital. I sent the CD back to a doctor in the UK. He informed me that I have a serious heart condition which requires surgery. I didn't receive the news until after the lockdown. I wouldn't have the surgery done in Thailand both for cost reasons and not trusting Thai doctors.
I am desperate to return to the UK, have the surgery and return to my family in Thailand. Currently impossible. I'm looking at next year before I get my surgery done, if I survive.
Sorry to hear of your situation, i'm sure many more have similar stories.
I do not agree however with not trusting Thai doctors, at some of the better hospitals they are very well trained from overseas. I do agree about the cost tho if no insurance and going private, that can easily rack up a large chunk of change.
Good luck.

It's been a race to the bottom here for quite a while. You can even see it with drink prices in the bars.
All your comments are based around the bar scene, that's not the be all and end all of Pattaya.
Pattaya offers a lot more than than, you should get out more and experience it then you would appreciate the quiet times right now.

It's been awful dry here . we are getting a Little rain now .
Town water is Cheaper in the long run than a Bore hole and an extra pump and paying for the power one uses.
So you never used 90,000litres then?
For me a bore hole is great, totally off grid and not at the mercy of gov supply. No concerns if the resevoirs are empty, no concern if there's a drought etc.
To each their own.

Is anyone missing travelling or even not being able to plan anything?

Yes, i've travelled 1100kms in the last 5 days, going away again soon.
There's loads of cars on the road, it's nothing like it was 3 weeks ago.
