Point is, with thousands of properties on the market here, pre virus, and so few buyers, pre virus, and they are still building more, how is it some on this forum can say the Pattaya property market is a healthy one, pre virus? (no pun intended)

One member said it's his home, with no intention of ever selling.  I get that. However, if you bought property here, and may want to sell it, or may need to sell it in the future, you will practically have to give it away, or be prepared to walk away.

It appears to me, the best owners can hope for here is casinos are allowed, and the Chinese do to Pattaya what they did to Sihanoukville, which will send property through the roof, but then we can all say good bye to living in Pattaya.

Who said it's a healthy market?

Personally i don't think any amount of casino's will make any difference to prices.

Quite possibly the Nissan did the  cut into the U-turn lane in one foul swoop manoeuvrer  instead of merging

and at the same time  speeding minivan comes crashing through at light speed.

I saw the remains of the wreckage yesterday  big blue bucket and lots of tarpaulin  all in the central reservation and wondered what had happened.

Keeryd will be along shortly to give us a full break down of how the accident happened and what can ( or could ) be done to prevent is happening again ( maybe ).

He's like our very own CSI ( Thai style ).

Off to get some popcorn now...

I made my friends at the bar. On line is too easy to fake it.

I never had a barbeer girl ask me for a drink. Try a better class of barbeer.

I don't beleive that for a second, if they were not doing that they would not last 5 minutes.

clearly overpriced and they stop aircon during the day. ridiculous.

It's 200 baht a day which i don't consider over priced and each morning i've been in there A/C has been on in the cardio building and weights building.

This was maybe 6-8 months ago though so maybe it's changed?

                       Why would anyone eat KFC-food?

I only visit for some icecream, now and then, but up to anyone

who have a craving for junk food will go there I guess!

                       Stay safe out there!

KFC is one of the fest fast joints where the food actually resembles real food.

Note-  that's chicken in this case.

I feel sorry for you, luckily i just made it here on 10 march, stuck here now but at least im with my daughter and my wife. Better than being stuck in uk on my own. I hope they start flying soon so you can get home too.

Yeah likewise, i got in on the 12th.

I've been offered work oversea but turned it down coz of the unlikelyhood of getting back into Thailand any time soon.

To the best of my knowledge there is no 'certification' I've had 5 or 6 and they've just been a letter confirming my address - and hence is known as a Confirmation of Address at Korat Immigration. The only way you could actually call yourself resident is if you're granted Permanent Residence.

Whatever they are called - they are complete rubbish. Print yourself a lease from the internet, get a copy of your 'landlord's' ID & Tabien Baan and hey presto, they give you Confirmation of Address. The fact that there are no checks makes the document laughable but you have to have one of course. In fact, 'one' is not enough - can't speak for other offices but Korat issue them for a specific purpose. I remember not knowing that and after using my first one to open a bank account, I thought I could use it for a driving licence - no chance, back to Korat, another 500 baht!!

They require to see your passport to give you a certificate of residence and a utility bill or lease contract or the likes.

It's called a certificate of residence, yes it's confirmation of where you stay.

Yes you need one for each task you're doing, if you're renewing bike and car license for example you'll need one for each.

It's not just about entry requirements. The monger demographic is not in the higher earning demographic, and if the economic situation is as bad as feared few will be able to afford to visit LOS and pay for girls. Looks like air travel will be way more expensive.

    girls will be cheaper tho.

i went to macdonalds in the avenue this morning and a girl outside offered to take me in the public toilets to polish my helmet for 200 baht!

I gave her 15 baht but declined her offer.

Sorry Bangsaenguy,  if English is not your first language. I have been to

Thailand many times and have seen many expat husbands who are

stumbling alcoholics. They are not fun to be around, slobbering and

hanging onto me when they are trying to have a chat. So I was saying that

if you cannot even take your Thai wife out for a meal, without needing to

drink a wine or a beer then it is likely you are like the people I have been

talking about.   Thanks Ron as I do have friends and even relatives that

live in Pattaya, so I do also know people there who are not alcohalics

as well. I do prefer their company for sure.  Hope this clears up the comfusion.

    Geezer

So if i have 1 beer or glass of wine when i'm out for a meal i'm an alcoholic?

I wonder how ecological it was putting that huge concrete cube right smack in the middle of some beautiful scenery by slashing a good portion of the naturally grown forest and using heavy excavation and construction equipment while an endless procession of large diesel trucks brought cement and other materials to the site. And the plumbing and sewer system... where and how is waste water discharged? How are the manicured lawns and gardens maintained and irrigated? What does the pool hold? Somehow I doubt it's cistern-collected rain water. And of course the hotel kitchen doesn't refrigerate food, nor are there R-22 omitting air conditioners anywhere in the building... right?  Many of these "eco" resorts in the country look pretty impressive on the surface - until you take a closer look and start asking questions. "Eco" often is little more than a marketing tool to command premium prices. "Oh, if you want to go 'eco' because it makes you feel better about yourself, you'll just have to dig into your pocket a little deeper."

I don't think anyone gives a flying funk about your spending habits.

its their country, their rules, they don't like or want you there, so guess what? Don't let the door hit you on the <deleted> when u leave.

Whether or not they like us is irrelevant but i'm not sure your statement about not wanting us here ( for our custom ) is as true as it was pre virus, i'm sure they'd be glad of any business they can get right now ( if business still alive ).

so, if you won't support it, you must be going into lockdown? what other choices do you have?

and yes, the temp checks are often done at too far a distance to get an accurate read...

As mentioned, there are plenty of places to eat without those stupid screens in place.

I think it will be a while before even the mongers can get back to Pattaya.

Then, it's a Catch 22 situation.  The girls only come back to Pattaya because the sex tourists have come back to Pattaya, and the sex tourists only come back to Pattaya because the girls have come back to Pattaya.

Western tourists declined significantly this past high season, pre virus.  It will take a long time to rebuild, even back to those low high season numbers.

The tourist and the girls will return, mark my words.

How long it will take, you or no one else knows.
