Thanks but really don't want to spend 30,000 baht for very limited use. He just wants for taxi tracking and that would be about all I would need. Last attempt was Samsung A01 which fit the bill OK at 1/10th the price but screen totally smashed on first drop so no great loss.

In same boat but do not want anything to do with the tablets they call phones today. About the only small choice for reasonable price seems to be about 5.45" models or to buy very old used models. Xiaomi Redme 7a appears to be a contender and more recent Huawei Y5P (but no access to Google for Huawei products). From experience it is very easy to drop and smash screen on large/thin phones.

Actually many don't and banks can be very insistent on wanting to do themselves so always need to confirm how being done. The exchange rate even when done in Thailand will likely be a bit lower than Wise and the 1/4 of one percent charge (200-500 baht) additional even when not hit with additional bank charges. For some it may work well but for others not so much. When normally a good option is if making very large (more than average monthly living expense) transfers.

Actually not always a good idea unless they allow sending USD rather than Baht. If they make the exchange you can be sure will not be in your favor. Also there may be intermediate bank involved taking a cut off the top. Also remember you will be paying between 200-500 to Bangkok Bank after conversion at Bangkok Bank rate.

Perhaps a less expensive build might be an option also. 4-5 million is a lot of money for house, even in Bangkok. As you have the land would think a less expensive build might be an option (or are you building two homes)? You can always plan to add-on in the future as land area seems to allow. If need now the IRA hit might be cost effective in the long run.

Nearly 2,500 travellers enter Thailand on first day of full reopening

The linked reference says "enter Bangkok" but forum says "enter Thailand". Did they update to "enter Bangkok"? If so perhaps we should also? -
As one who walked the streets of Beijing some 40 years ago with a visibility of perhaps 20 meters (this was before there were any cars except for a few taxi and officials to account for dirty air - or manufacturing) agree they have as much responsibility as everyone else. They have been in the big time pollution wise for many decades. C O A L But try as I have can not understand this report - several tanks of 200 liters weighing 500 tons does not make sense (even for a Thai news story).

7,000 international arrivals due at Suvarnabhumi on Monday

New estimate is 13,000 for week. -
Not clear what you want to do as Embassy indeed issues visas for purpose of retirement but that also requires proof of insurance for visa and any later extensions of stay and would require whatever proof Embassy says (but would not normally require funds in Thailand for visa). Suspect you are asking about conversion of tourist visa/visa exempt entry into non immigrant O visa and then one year extensions of that on basis of monthly income. That requires money being deposited into Thai bank account in your name only. The bank book/deposit records are used for proof.

It appears the reason for transfer selection is no longer making your destination account tagged for direct transfer from Wise account at that bank. Solution seems to be to request Wise in Email to tag the account you use for immigration so that use that banks account if possible. They can not guarantee 100% but seems to work at or close to 100% if you have them tag your account.

A warning to be very careful after cleaning to lube properly as such units can be too good at removal. This from cleaning Teletype equipment many decades ago. As for the Hz suspect nothing to lose as there no reasonable fix for that so if dies so be it.

Have you invested in a professional cleaning? Can make a world of difference and only costs about 600 baht (often less).

This is a forum for information - why would anyone want to delete that information? We still do not know what happened and/or it will happen again. Alternatives have been provided and discussed. And methods to help insure we get what we want. This can be helpful not only now but to others in the future. That it may be gray in many areas just confirms the gray world we live in.

Actually US did not make any production cars of that type (Corvette was more of a Jag) so expect that is the reason so many found there way to be dumped across the sea. It was cheaper than a Jag but at least looked sporty in a VW way but the Ford mantra of Fix Or Repair Daily seemed to apply. Having owned the first Mustang and later an e-type Jag (and father a UK assembled Volvo ???? ) was not any more impressed with UK auto industry of the 60's than USA.
