  1. So you wash it out and return - no big issues if normal stilt or lower level cement construction and you have upper level to store items in normal rain/river rising flooding - dam failure would be another story but unless you have ability to live on the top of a mountain not a lot most people can do about that. Isolation does not suit everyone.
  2. Yes it floods often - family has home near Wat Lai, few km South, and have seen water up to floor in stilt home 2 meters above land and the land at least 2 meters higher than klong. Although that only happened when a klong dam failed - normally not higher than about 2 meters. But yes the area floods.
  3. In my 20 years of retirement extensions here in Bangkok that has not been asked. Several years ago they did require TM30 receipt and that has been what I have used since. Over 20 years ago indeed did require wife documentation when extending for marriage. That said expect it could be used to prove residence in lieu of rental contract.
  4. I find this the best loop radar for Bangkok these days as you get view of movement. Both Takhli and Sattahip are useful for fast moving storms. As said the two Bangkok radars have not been on web for a year or more and the canal levels were also removed from internet ages ago - out of sight out of mind I guess (they were very useful for predicting flooding and time to drain). https://weather.tmd.go.th/svp120Loop.php
  5. Actually there are other rivers leading to the sea but in 2011 some were blocked by local governments (plus it being about 90% more water at the time).
  6. Not specific to any office but: If TM30 not on file the photos may be in lieu of that requirement to prove where he stays. A map is a normal requirement. Believe there have been several other reports of income proof being asked, as well as Embassy letter. Seems they are asking to see a total of 800k transferred for the year but not the 65k per month as for nationalities that can not obtain Embassy letters anymore.
  7. AFAIK that is not Thai law - it is current policy only which could change under current laws - if you can provide a real law source would be most appreciated.
  8. How does it make it so much easier? You still need bank letter of account ownership and showing balance for each month remains at 400k or above under current requirements (and some are being asked to return to prove this after 3 months) - using income you need bank letter and proof of 65k deposits each month (a passbook/yearly bank statement if US or letter from Embassy if they issue for most) - basically the same paperwork. So for those married the 800k is tied up in there name only and likely not available for months after death to spouse. Can not be used for medical emergency (or at most half).
  9. Note this is the premier eye center for Thailand dating back many decades and continues to be a go to place for many. It is a bit automated point to point due to the many customers but in general very good and not overly expensive.
  10. Never had to do for 90 day reporting and as you noticed the web site is under repair so no appointments currently.
  11. Believe online is working for those that can use it - the issue seems to be database or entry errors - which is not likely to be corrected except by a new report being entered and a lot of luck.
  12. As healthcare is free, or at most 30 baht, this rings a caution bell.
  13. As one who had major cancer surgery scheduled at a government hospital but had to have at a major private hospital can give an example of cost several years ago: Government 80,000 plus medications and room if available. Private 1,000,000 all included. Government hospital team was recommended by private hospital doctor but was unable to operate due no ICU available - wait for new queue would have been months (and cancer was advancing so not an option). So yes both government and private fill needs. And you do not always have a good choice. Insurance is highly desirable for that reason alone.
  14. Indeed it is a nightmare to wade through trying to find topics - but that was also the case since some bright sparks decided forum should have more topics than members and a simple page or two search become a novel - for more advertising baht. Believe they are trying to make it appear easier with new format but there are just too many mouths to feed to get real and consolidate topics.
  15. Totally false - on some real notes it is and on others it is not. Did the reporter even check? The key is the flower 3d effect - not the space between foil and number.
  16. Talk about reliable news - an unknown public health official? ????
  17. Most report little or no waits but 1300 or later should be good as most will go in morning. I take taxi from Latphao and expect that would be best option - should not be too much traffic.
  18. Actually did not find that true - much worse on other forum with many quacks posting to support a cause IMHO. This remains the best forum for Thailand but as noted it has lost a lot of posters due to various reasons this year and some of the new blood has indeed not exactly been helpful. But this seems to be the internet - every decade or so new communication paths open and old ones start to die. It is a TikTok age - obviously some of us did not make the cut.
  19. True - but there can be exceptions - been there. If there is an abscess you must wait for that to resolve or will likely absorb the injected material and pain can be great. Had that experience in Wash DC as had to leave for overseas in few weeks so doctor felt no time to wait. Doctor assured me second visit would not be another tear waterfall - he lied. The most pain I have ever had up to that time (and as a child had dentist pull first tooth with abscess and required smelling salts to be revived). Have also had after procedure pain here in Thailand with a soi cowboy shop - you want someone with experience as they are opening direct access to nerve.
  20. Believe they may have been talking about nerve location - from my understanding if too close to nerve it might not be a good option or might require more experience than an average dentist to perform. But in general implants are today. I am from yesterday so have not had myself.????
  21. Believe some have reported doing such - if using for income method make sure it covers the most recent 12 months deposits of 65k or more per month.
  22. If you are doing retirement income (from country that Embassy does not issue income letter) good to get full year statement covering last 12 deposits - it does not have to be to current date. Then a second letter, such as done at Bangkok Bank CW that proves you own account and current balance. Passbook also needs current balance printout and photo copies (there are several stalls on ground floor that can make copies - near North end on same side as Bangkok Bank).
  23. Believe up to six photos are normally asked but have not used marriage extensions for several decades - one must be together with house number and others in home. Would suggest having 3rd party drive if use taxi as parking could be an issue if appointment not at break of day which could take some time and wife must be with you and will make navigation easier. If not drop you early. Many in wheelchairs so should not be any major issues. Entry is at South end of building (which is not the main entrance). You have info on financials and marriage paperwork? Has a TM30 been filed for your residence as that proof might be required.
