  1. Melatonin seems to be a very gray area product if a brief Google search is to be believed - and this may account for its removal from sales platforms at times. https://food.chemlinked.com/news/food-news/thailand-prohibits-the-use-of-melatonin-in-food-products#:~:text=According to “Food Act” B.E.,claims of helping with sleep. So that would seem to make it subject to medical import restrictions when found out - and suspect there is no set policy for that (as most producers make as a health supplement) - leading to shortage.
  2. Unless you are talking about a country other than Thailand that has not been my experience - if it is in stock and not a controlled drug they will sell it. If you go with an explained condition they will likely advise you to use what other customers are using. In fact many pharmacies do not even have a pharmacist working.
  3. Count yourself lucky - they sure don't work for me. But agree many report it works - but then many report anything works if they have been told so. Overall tests have shown it is better than placebo - but do not believe it is that much better from what is currently known. Also very little is known about any negative effects (which excess amounts of anything often cause). But likely a good choice if alternative is medical sleeping pills.
  4. I would hope that it would. But whole issue of insurance has been a bit murky.
  5. Unfortunately I did not wade through enough of the text in that post - seems he stated all kinds of standards/type required and that not even talking about for use in Thailand. Agree with you that bedding in not cheap here (although perhaps some of Lazada stuff from China might be). I was unfortunately talking in general re sheets lasting forever - but normal sheets seem to last a long time. Are you using a hot water wash by chance? The sun will sanitize.
  6. Really had to read it all - missed that/never imagined anyone would ask that - but for sure sheets are not cheap in Thailand compared with USA and expect the same would be true with EU.
  7. I take both Cosopt and Xalatin - and Xalatin must be refrigerated when unopened and even when in use should not go above 25c - even for travel from hospital to home it is packed in ice.
  8. Suspect many eyeglass shops do not even have an optometrist as this only became a legal profession in 2010. There is a real shortage.
  9. From an above Sheryl post - A GP clinic that can provide home delivery of medications from my understanding - located in central Bangkok.
  10. Missed that - but I felt the same before hospitals started to use so had to use - and found they were not bad - and noticed many older Thai wearing them - not just the collage crowd.
  11. But until you have your bed you will not know as they make other size beds here and even custom size is not uncommon. Probably best to know size before buying - and sheets are really not that expensive even at Home Pro price (they normally have a good selection). They last forever.
  12. Euro Optics is not listed as an ophthalmologist by Google search so would not be asking them glaucoma treatment advise. Glaucoma medication is very much what works for you is what you should use in my experience - and can take some time to refine.
  13. Have found these excellent if able to use open toe for your social circle. https://www.lazada.co.th/products/i751626503-s1435452439.html? If not Crocs are quite comfortable.
  14. Nonsense - it is just a risk factor. https://www.mayoclinic.org/diseases-conditions/esophageal-cancer/symptoms-causes/syc-20356084#:~:text=It's thought that chronic irritation,Having gastroesophageal reflux disease (GERD)
  15. You seem to be thinking of a non immigrant O-A visa which is indeed issued for retirement - but will require government approved medical insurance (for as long as it is used/extended). As your married to a Thai why not just obtain/covert to non immigrant O visa - first extension would require wife but future extensions could be for retirement without the government insurance quagmire (or stick with the marriage extension with much lower financial requirements). But if you have no insurance and the government insurance fits than you could obtain the non immigrant O-A multi entry allowing 90 day stays for a year and extendable during any of those stays for a year. As you have SS insurance check if that would be accepted - have not seen any reports on that.
  16. Can recommend this doctor at Vejthani Hospital who has excellent English and is very low key and easy to talk with. https://www.vejthani.com/doctor/dr-sukprasert-jutaghokiat/
  17. Workers travel the streets doing this all over Bangkok. Quick ask of locals expect would get someone to your door quickly. But knife sharpeners are dirt cheap on Lazada or other platforms and work very well and are easy to use. https://www.lazada.co.th/catalog/?spm=a2o4m.home-th.search.1.11257f6dJiD6dc&q=knife sharpner&_keyori=ss&clickTrackInfo=textId--7133210228467044272__abId--308215__Score--2004.0__pvid--d986a8ce-a0b3-4f8b-9ecd-4425f2c6f748__matchType--1__matchList--1-3__srcQuery--knife sharpner__spellQuery--knife sharpner__ctrScore--0.0__cvrScore--0.0&from=suggest_normal&sugg=knife sharpner_0_1
  18. 300 million and 300,000 million are not the same.
  19. Of course it is - they have to abide to latest medical thinking - so an egg can not have a yolk etc etc etc. Make you healthy, wealthy and wise with good grazing meals.
  20. Actually that has only been around for 20 years so there are some of us US citizens that don't know about, or use it, or need it.
  21. Actually it is very difficult as there are hundreds of insurance brands and types and conditions for coverage and payment - they can't even do this for the for hundreds who apply for Non Immigrant O-A visas - they must buy special insurance to meet requirements.
  22. Write it off as the cost of doing business - with government taking the loss from its normal tourism funds.
  23. Many countries do not pay for medical service - it is a private service.
  24. We are not talking out-patient drugs however. Hospitals of any type are required to provide emergency treatment under current laws. This can easily turn into inpatient stay and such stays can become very expensive (million baht and more often if ICU care required for period of time). Not everyone will have the funds to pay and others will default on payment. So yes, there is a problem as in any pay for service medical country (or any business for that matter).
