SPONSORED BY by Rooster | ASEAN NOW One man epitomized the Beautiful Game last night with his second telling contribution in Brazil's 2-0 defeat of Serbia. Richarlison. So good they named him once. He may have got himself a little off balance but the swivel and overhead kick were sublime. With skill like that he could find himself in Golden Boot territory especially as Brazil are likely to make the final. Seven games to fill your boots. Also eyeing a second consecutive World Cup Golden Boot is England's Harry Kane who was passed fit to play for the Three Lions against USA tonight (2am Thai time). I'm expecting England not only to beat our American cousins comfortably but do it in a style befitting of our status as inventors of the game. For, my dear friends across yonder pond, this is football where only two players can pick the ball up and it's round. I'm sure your football game is wonderful and let's face it there's more than enough time between plays to get a hotdog but.... It's not football and it never will be the world's most popular game even if you start calling the Superbowl the "World Series". "We beat you 1-0 in 1950 in the biggest World Cup finals shock in history" I hear you mutter. Ah yes, but we didn't take that event seriously at the time because we knew we were the best footballing nation on the planet and there was absolutely no need to prove it. This was confirmed in 1966. Admittedly things have not gone all to plan since then. No big trophy wins for the men's team and for decades the "English inventors" have been given lessons on how to play from most corners of the earth. But still... In other games last night Uruguay and South Korea played out an entertaining 0-0 draw. Earlier Embolo who was born in Cameroon but plays for Switzerland helped the latter with the goal in a 1-0 victory. The third of last night's matches set the stage for Cristiano Ronaldo that resulted in a 3-2 win for Portugal against Ghana. Ronaldo became the first man to score at five FIFA World Cups. He may have been a little cheeky in how he won the penalty but it was fired home with aplomb to trigger a "Siu" celebration from player and crowd. A true legend of the game. Tonight's action continues to follow the 5pm - 8pm - 11pm - 2am Thai time schedule. Group B Wales vs Iran 5pm Group A Qatar vs Senegal 8pm Netherlands vs Ecuador 11pm Group B England vs USA 2am These are the second games in Groups A and B. Wales will be looking to consolidate their point against the USA with victory over Iran. I expect Iran to bounce back and deny any singing in the valleys or..... In Tenerife....an interesting snippet gleaned from the BBC was that Welsh supporters had descended on the Spanish holiday island in droves to watch the footy. There were 2,500 of them after a woman started a small party that just grew and grew via internet advertising. Many cited the prohibitive cost of a trip to Qatar and opted for bars in Tenerife in a huge fanzone. Fair play to the Weslsh who are in large numbers in Qatar also. I expect a hatful of goals from Senegal against the hapless hosts in the second mismatch.... er I mean match. Not having Mane will make little difference and at least 5-0 is expected. The Netherlands should also have far too much for Ecuador. The men in orange are Rooster's pick to go all the way. England round off proceedings against the USA at 2am. When those of us guilty of brazen, unfounded bravado will likely get our comeuppance with a slathering of US relish. Set alarms where necessary and stay tuned to the 2022 World Cup. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-25

SAMUT PRAKAN, Nov 25 (TNA) – Transport Minister Saksayam Chidchob ordered Thai Airways International to solve delays in luggage claims for inbound passengers at Suvarnabhumi airport in 30 days. The minister inspected services at the main airport of the country and found that travelers’ congestion in their immigration process was obviously relieved because it took 15 minutes for each of travelers to have their passport checked. However, the minister saw that inbound air passengers had to wait for a long while to claim their luggage. Suvarnabhumi airport has two service providers for luggage handling – Thai Airways International (THAI) and Bangkok Flight Services (BFS). The delay happened mostly with THAI because it downsized its organization and workforce. Sanook Thai Caption: Birthday party begging teams Sanook reported that Thai social media was mostly outraged by pictures of their compatriots enjoying themselves at a private party. A clip got out. This was not any old party. The theme was "Beggars" and partygoers had gone dressed up as beggars, poor people and blind singing beggars. Netizens felt it was in bad taste looking down on the poor and handicapped of the kingdom. Apologies were demanded. Sanook went to find the party organiser at a restaurant on the Ban Bung to Klaeng Road in Chonburi, central Thailand. Juthathip, 35, explained that the party happened in an estate nearby on November 19th. She and her friends always get together to celebrate birthdays and they always have dress up themes to spice things up a bit. This time it was "Beggars". Questioned as to the appropriateness of all this she said that she was sorry if offence was caused, but it was a private party just for fun and no disrespect to anyone was intended. This was backed up by Pornchai who was filmed as a beggar in the clip who said no offence was intended. But he also offered an apology. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. by Paul Rujopakarn BANGKOK (NNT) - Chiang Mai Province has announced its latest efforts to curb haze this year, with the goal of slashing emissions from forest fires. The province recently held a task force meeting on mitigating forest fires and smog, attended by provincial officials, private firms, experts and representatives from local communities. The province aims to reduce forest fire hotspots by 20%, effectively setting a cap of 9,833 hotspots covering up to 718,000 rai of forest land. Officials are also urging private firms and communities to clean their roads and limit emissions from vehicles, construction projects and factories. Additionally, Chiang Mai authorities have been in talks with provincial administrations in neighboring countries to collectively address this issue. The Samut Sakhon Provincial Administrative Organization has meanwhile joined hands with the provincial natural resources and environment office to organize a tree-growing campaign. Seedlings for some 500 trees, along with organic fertilizers, have been distributed to participating agencies and organizations, as the campaign aims to expand green spaces and achieve a low-carbon society. Trees planted as part of this campaign will be monitored to gauge the amount of greenhouse gasses captured as part of the program. The campaign will also ensure the preservation of 709 silver trumpet trees planted along a 6-kilometer section of Ekkachai Road. Daily News Thai Caption: Murder moment revealed! Thai media of all descriptions has been following a sensational murder case after the body of Piyada Sornkul, 29, was found in a klong in the area of Klong 2, Klong Luang, Pathum Thani, north of the Thai capital Bangkok. The victim is a ladyboy who Daily News called "Korya". It has been discovered, reported Thai Rath, that the victim had gone to Lumpini Park where he parked a Mazda 2. He was then invited by a group of young men to go with them in their vehicle. After the body was found in the area of Soi Bongkot 40, a detailed autopsy showed three blunt force trauma wounds to the head. Picture: Thai Rath Missing was an iPhone, a brand name necklace and some cash of an unspecified amount. Region 1 police managed to arrest a 39 year old man called Yuthaphol who told them how the victim was picked up in the Withayu (Wireless Road) area of downtown Bangkok. A knife was then used to threaten the victim in an attempt to rob him. But the victim fought back and in order to escape punishment for what happened a hammer was used to kill the victim who was then put in the klong. The victim had his neck weighed down by a dumbbell with chain. The necklace and phone were tossed in after him to conceal all the evidence. Yesterday evening rescue workers from Poh Teck Tung and divers uncovered the missing evidence from the klong 500 meters from where the body was discovered earlier. Picture: Thai Rath They retrieved a 5 kilogram dumbbell and chain, an iPhone 13 and a Three Monarchs necklace that were all handed over to the Klong Luang police. One rescue worker said that the dumbbell had not been properly tied to the victim's neck so it was ineffective in weighing down the body. With decomposition setting in the body had floated away in the slow moving water. Daily News were more sensational in their reporting mentioning the good looks of the victim who they said was "tossed into the klong while still alive". They based this on the statement of a 36 year old "rider" (delivery man on motorcycle) who they called the "cruel murderer". He said he had hit the victim twice before describing coolly what he did next. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-25 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
