Amazing Weekend with the i8 Vantage GT4 Aston Martin Racing Asia Has Joined the Thai Super Series Aston Martin Racing Asia, one of the profound names in auto-racing, was officially on the grid for the first time this weekend in the Thai Super Series, with Adam Khalid at the wheel of the Aston Martin i8 Vantage GT4, placing third in the GTC Production Class. "We are proud to have participated in the events at Chang International Circuit, which was part of the Thai Super Series 10th year," explained a visibly pleased Weiron Tan, Team Principal of Aston Martin Racing Asia. "On behalf of Aston Martin Racing Asia, we were truly delighted to have the i8 Vantage GT4 here this weekend and in the remaining rounds of the 2022 Thai Super Series." The thrilling and action-packed race took place from October 27th to 30th at the Chang International Circuit in Buriram, north-east of Bangkok, with the i8 Vantage GT4 serving as the Official Car of Aston Martin Racing Asia, which was further supported by the manufacturer. This assistance included R&D, cutting-edge technology, engineering support, and mechanical assistance, all of which were exclusively accessible to Aston Martin Racing Asia. Given the heritage of Aston Martin racing, their goal is to dominate the Thai Super Series final rounds, and that is exactly what the team is planning to execute. Driver Adam Khalid shared his enthusiasm through his statement that goes, "A huge thank you to Aston Martin Racing Asia for giving me this opportunity. After the past 3 days, I am very much looking forward to the rest of the Super Series. The Vantage GT4 is no stranger to me, as I have been testing with it quite extensively in the UK. I have also enjoyed working with the Aston Martin Racing Asia Team in the past, so there were plenty of familiar faces over the last few days. It was great to be back. The team and car showed real strength this weekend and in their previous debut in the Thai Super Series Singapore GP support races, where they won both events. We are motivated and focused on creating a winning streak together! " With more than 20 podium finishes and victories in his racing career, Adam has already made a spectacular climb in Asian auto racing. In a short period of time, he went from winning "Rookie of the Year" awards to winning the Speed Festival three times and the Malaysian Endurance Championship twice. Commercially, there are two objectives for this agreement. The first is to further cement the position of Aston Martin and the Aston Martin Racing Asia Team at the apex of motorsport in the region as the dominant team and the "go to" automobile. Second, the enormous popularity of motorsport in Asia offers sponsors an excellent platform by fusing the sport's elite profile with its inherent adrenalin rush, panache, and exhilaration. The company behind Aston Martin Racing Asia is Motorsports Services Aston Martin Racing Asia (MSAA), the official representative and distributor for Aston Martin Racing in Asia, Aston Martin Racing offers a soul-stirring range of Vantage GT variants, including the Vantage GT3, the GT8R and the GT4. It operates in countries from China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, and South Korea in the north, through to all Southeast Asia. Aston Martin Racing Asia also provides on-site parts support to teams and individuals competing in the region, along with engineering and technical support. "This is a great opportunity for the Aston Martin brand to gain further recognition in the region," said team principal Weiron Tan. "After the weekend we just had, we will redouble our efforts. There is great potential for the future." To further celebrate i8 Vantage GT4 momentous debut in the Thai Super Series, complete ownership of an Aston Martin Vantage GT4 and a complimentary enrolment in the Racing Training Experience Program will be given away to one lucky winner, along with other prizes worth up to USD $1,000,000. By Online Reporter The municipality has announced plans to launch a new system that will mean people in Hua Hin will be able to pay their water bills at convenience stores or via online banking. Currently, people who receive their bill from the Hua Hin Municipal Waterworks Division either pay the person who delivers the bill or they have to go to the waterworks office in person to pay their bill. The current system causes problems for both the Waterworks Division and for people who need to pay their bills. The Waterworks Division says that collecting money from people can take longer than it should do, while residents complain that having to pay bills in person is a huge inconvenience. Ukrainian servicemen fire a self-propelled howitzer toward Russian positions, amid Russia’s attack on Ukraine, on a frontline in Mykolaiv region, Ukraine November 2, 2022. REUTERS/Valentyn Ogirenko/File Photo A Russian-installed official in southern Ukraine said Moscow will likely pull its troops from the west bank of the Dnipro River in Kherson and urged civilians to leave, possibly signalling a retreat that would be a setback to Russia’s war. There was silence from senior officials in Moscow. The Kyiv government and Western military analysts remained cautious, suggesting Russia could be setting a trap for advancing Ukrainian troops. “Most likely our units, our soldiers, will leave for the left (eastern) bank,” Kirill Stremousov, the Russian-installed deputy civilian administrator of the Kherson region, said in an interview on Thursday with Solovyov Live, a pro-Kremlin online media outlet. Big Joke investigating Immigration after attack on Chinese man - former chief demands "Overstay" action against foreign criminals Picture: Siam Rath The former chief of Thai immigration, who is now deputy commander of the whole Thai police after a fall from grace, is going after foreigners on overstay and criminal foreign gangs. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1276751-big-joke-investigating-immigration-after-attack-on-chinese-man-former-chief-demands-overstay-action-against-foreign-criminals/ -
Picture: Siam Rath The former chief of Thai immigration, who is now deputy commander of the whole Thai police after a fall from grace, is going after foreigners on overstay and criminal foreign gangs. He has also said that he has possibly bent immigration officers in his sights after unchecked student visas were issued. Now it is back to the pre-pandemic days when former lieutenant general now General Surachate Hakpan called for: "Good Guys In Bad Guys Out" of Thailand. Siam Rath reported comments made by Surachate at RTP HQ yesterday in Bangkok. He was referring to a brazen torture/sadism attack for ransom of a Chinese man called Ren Haibo, 41. Ren had his eyes wound up in black tape and was trussed up in rope to the arms, legs and neck. He then had his right pinkie cut off and a video was sent to his Thai girlfriend demanding 150 million baht ransom. He said that most Chinese criminals arrive on tourist visas then change them in Thailand to student visas. In this case both the victim and his tormenters knew each other. The gang were on overstay of more than a year and had changed their status to "students" at Udon Thani immigration in the north east citing an educational foundation. Surachate said they were all mixed up in illegality whether it be call center crime, drugs or entertainment places in Bangkok. They had probably had a business dispute with the victim. They were using Thailand as a base for criminal activity. The victim had changed his status to student at the immigration office in Phrae in the north. There was clear evidence that both Udon Thani and Phrae immigration had been defective in failing to check the criminals' claims they were students. They were not studying of course. If it can be shown that immigration officers in those places acted incorrectly he promised decisive action against them. In the light of the case Surachate ordered a nationwide crackdown on overstayers and criminal foreigners using Thailand as a base. He said that he has provided lists to the Chinese Charge d'Affaires to crosscheck against people wanted on warrants in China. He said that he had instructed all borders and all immigration offices nationwide to go after foreigners committing crime to get them out. ASEAN NOW notes that Surachate spectacularly and mysteriously fell from grace several years ago when he was sacked as immigration chief by Thai PM Prayut Chan-ocha. But after a while in the wilderness and shuffling paper at the PM's office - plus a shooting incident in Bangkok where his car was attacked - he was remarkably rehabilitated to a special advisory role. His rehabilitation was completed after he became a general and deputy commander of the Royal Thai Police. Now today he is going after immigration and returning to familiar territory of "Good Guys In, Bad Guys Out", his pre-pandemic mantra. Many speculated years ago that the poster boy cop who is always in the media, had stepped on the toes of RTP bigwigs bigger than himself. While his critics see another cop on the take, his supporters see him as an honest man in a cesspool of corruption at the RTP and even a possible future politician or PM. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-11-04 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. by Tanakorn Sangiam BANGKOK (NNT) - Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport will serve as the main port of arrival for economic leaders, executives, and members of the media attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week this month. The Minister of Transport paid a visit to the airport to inspect the readiness of relevant facilities. Minister of Transport Saksayam Chidchob today visited Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to inspect the airport’s preparedness to accommodate special passengers participating in the APEC Economic Leaders’ Week (AELW) 2022, which will be taking place in Bangkok on 14-19 November. The airport, which is the largest international airport and the main port of arrival for air travelers in Thailand, is expected to handle the highest number of AELW participants traveling by air. Mr. Saksayam said he had ordered the Civil Aviation Authority of Thailand, the Aeronautical Radio of Thailand, and Airports of Thailand which owns and operates 6 airports, as well as related agencies to fully prepare their facilities and staff members for the occasion. These entities will be coordinating with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Customs Department, and the Excise Department to facilitate travel formalities for APEC leaders. Nineteen extra passport control counters have been added to Bangkok Suvarnabhumi Airport to accommodate passengers. Facilities at Bangkok’s secondary airport, Don Muang International Airport, have also been prepared for the AELW, including 101 aprons of which 17 are for overnight parking. The Transport Minister has urged related agencies to ensure maximum security protection for the country leaders on their arrivals and departures. Both airports will remain open for commercial flights during the AELW period. All the extra procedures to accommodate economic leaders will not affect general passengers using the airports during that time. From left to right: Mr. Jongmin Kim, Regional Manager (Thailand, Laos, Pakistan, Nepal), Korean Air, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, and Mr Akinori Yokosawa, Manager of International Specialty Sales of Delta Air Lines 50 agents from around America participating in a nine-day trip from 1-9 November, 2022, to see Thailand’s new tourism offerings with visits to Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. TAT Newsroom The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organising the ‘Feel Thailand with Delta Air Lines and Korean Air’ one-of-a-kind mega fam trip for US travel agents from 1-9 November, 2022, to drive demand for meaningful travel experiences in Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket and promote accessibility for tourists from across the US. Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, TAT Governor, said “As the winter season begins in countries like the US, now is the perfect time to rediscover the wonders of Thailand. And now that Thailand is fully open to travellers, we want to showcase the new and perennial offerings of our country that serve to create a truly unforgettable holiday. This trip also forms part of our plans to stimulate travel from across all 50 US states to Thailand, and ultimately helping us reach a tourism revenue target of 1.5 trillion Baht in 2023 from international market.” TAT’s ‘Feel Thailand with Delta Air Lines and Korean Air’ mega fam trip brings together 50 travel agents from around the US to experience Thailand’s new tourism offerings. The nine-day trip includes meaningful travel programmes in Ayutthaya, Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket. The itinerary places emphasis on providing the travel agents the chance to discover the latest tourism products, learn about sustainable and responsible tourism practices, and meet with Thai sellers in table top sales events. Through the fam trip, TAT is leveraging multiple strategies to promote travel to Thailand during the coming months of the high season, which started in October. These include the full reopening of Thailand to international tourism, an increased length of stay for tourists, and providing US travellers with easy access to Thailand from all 50 US states. TAT is joining forces with Delta Air Lines and Korean Air in a first-of-its-kind partnership that will increase travel options from the US to Thailand. First launched in 2018, the Delta-Korean Air trans Pacific joint venture offers efficient connections to Bangkok, Chiang Mai, and Phuket from a combined network of 17 US gateways. Mr. Akinori Yokosawa, Manager of International Specialty Sales, Delta Air Lines, said “By utilising our increasing flight network from across the US, this cooperation will pave the way for ongoing mutual partnership with TAT to promote travel to Thailand. In addition, Delta Air Lines is committed to carbon neutrality, being the first carbon neutral airline on a global basis. And so, we share the common goal of truly responsible tourism with TAT in its plans to drive Thailand towards experience-based and sustainable tourism.” Mr. Jongmin Kim, Sales Director for Thailand, Korean Air, said “The cooperation with Delta Air Lines and TAT will help promote accessibility for tourists from across the US to Thailand on board our flights with excellent service.” Since 1 October, 2022, visitors to Thailand no longer need to show proof of vaccination or ATK test results. And from now until 31 March, 2023, the period of stay is extended to 45 days from 30 days for tourists from countries/territories entitled for visa exemption (this includes America) and to 30 days from 15 days for those eligible for a visa on arrival (VOA). The US is one of Thailand’s major visitor source markets, and US travellers typically have a high level of spending per person while in Thailand. The revitalisation of this and other such key markets is a top priority for TAT, as it aims to maximise revenue while promoting Thailand’s move towards more sustainable, more inclusive, and more environment-friendly tourism. For 2022, TAT expects Thailand to welcome up to 10 million international visitors. Now in the high season, the kingdom has already received over 7 million tourists between 1 January and 26 October, 2022. The target for 2023 is for Thailand to generate a total tourism revenue of 1.5 trillion Baht from the international market. TAT’s ‘Feel Thailand with Delta Air Lines and Korean Air’ mega fam trip is also supported by Thailand’s leading airlines and hotels, including Bangkok Airways, AWC’s affiliated hotels, RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort Chiang Mai, Capella Bangkok, Four Seasons Hotel Bangkok at the Chao Phraya River, COMO Point Yamu, The Peninsula Bangkok, and Melia Chiang Mai. Meanwhile, Marriot Marquis Queen’s Park, Bangkok, Courtyard by Marriott Phuket Town, and RatiLanna Riverside Spa Resort Chiang Mai are venues for the table top sales events.
