Daily News Thai Caption: Cause (of death) urgently sought! Daily News reported sad news from Mae Ramphung beach in Muang district of Rayong on Thailand's eastern seaboard after a turtle washed up dead. Environmentalists, vets and fishing experts were called after a tourist found the creature outside the Rayong Beach Hotel on Monday afternoon. It was 50 cms long, 30 cms wide and weighed about 10 kilos. Vet Thanaphan Chomcheun said that it was a green sea turtle (chelonia mydas or tao tanu in Thai) aged about 5. Its sex could not be determined. The body had no injuries and an initial examination of the intestinal contents revealed nothing untoward. The turtle was taken away for a full autopsy to determine the cause of death and hopefully prevent a recurrence. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Daily News Thai Caption: Reconciliation failed The thought that a Thai man's ex wife was going to find a "phua farang" (western husband) proved too much for a drunk guy in the north east, reported Daily News. Chutiphon, 40, tanked himself up on booze and jumped over the wall of a house in Phakdeeburirak Road in Nangrong district of Buriram. He was armed with a knife. A furious argument developed with his ex wife Suthanee, 36. The couple split four months ago. Seeing things were headed in a bad direction Chutiphon's former mother-in-law Sommai, 60, tried to intervene. She was stabbed in the right side of the ribs. Chutiphon still tried to attack his ex wife and his 18 year old son. Picture: Daily News The young man "graaped" the feet of his father begging him to stop which he eventually did. He fled on a motorcycle and was arrested at the bus station trying to flee the area. The wife said she would have no forgiveness for her ex. The mother in law is out of danger but still in hospital. Chutiphon, in tears, said that he had ordained into the monkhood in 2005 but left of his own volition. He admitted he and his wife had had constant arguments and that he like to drink but they carried on for the sake of their two children. Picture: Daily News But when she said she wanted to take up with a foreigner, that was too much to bear. He spent every waking hour thinking about that before drinking himself into a stupor to embolden himself and going to see his wife armed with a knife. He said he didn't mean to hurt anyone, he was trying to reconcile. "It was the booze," he said. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Opinion – Gen Prawit actions speak louder than his words as all indications are he aims to dethrone Gen Prayut from Premiership By Erich Parpart Questions are being asked whether Caretaker Prime Minister and reportedly the mastermind behind the 2014 coup – General Prawit Wongsuwon, has run out of use of General Prayut Chan-o-cha. By Erich Parpart Questions are being asked whether Caretaker Prime Minister and reportedly the mastermind behind the 2014 coup – General Prawit Wongsuwon, has run out of use of General Prayut Chan-o-cha. From the looks of it, the answer to the question seems to be a big ‘yes’. Although caretaker Prime Minister Prawit has said that he would not reshuffle the Cabinet yet as he awaits the outcome of the Constitutional Court’s verdict on the fate of General Prayut’s 8-years term limit, because he wants to respect the Prime Minister. There are at least 4 Cabinet seats that are vacant and need urgent reappointment, but such a move is only likely after the Constitutional Court gives its verdict later this month. The court has already called in a meeting on September 8th and will likely hand in its verdict 15-days thereafter which could be as early as September 26th. Acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan during an inspection tour in Krabi on Monday. Acting Prime Minister Gen Prawit Wongsuwan on Monday dismissed speculation of a possible Cabinet reshuffle. “I am just a caretaker prime minister. I cannot reshuffle the Cabinet,” said Prawit when asked by reporters to comment on speculation that he might reshuffle the Cabinet. He said any decision on a Cabinet reshuffle should rest with Gen Prayut Chan-o-cha, who has been suspended from performing his prime ministerial duty. “Wait for the decision (by the Constitutional Court). If he continues in his office, the prime minister will take care of that,” he said during an inspection tour in Krabi province in southern Thailand. Pol Lt Jaturawit Traisungnern went to the eight story hotel with a forensic team, Chula Hospital medics and Ruam Kantanyu rescue services. On the outside of the hotel - that wasn't named - they found Opas Saengjan, 34, from Klaeng, Rayong, stuck in a niche by a smoke extractor. He was ten meters up from the ground and equipment was used to lower him down. He was fully clothed and had sneakers on. He had burns on his right foot and had stepped on electrical anti-theft wires. He had 2,600 baht with him. He was not a tourist and no one knew him. The anti-theft device was turned on from 10 pm to 5 am the hotel told police. One month ago a man had scaled the building and been chased by security guards but got away after stealing from a tourist. Sanook Thai Caption: Sent for attitude adjustment training A video posted to the Instagram site of singapore_incidents featured a couple from the island state having a ding-dong with a belligerent tuk-tuk driver on the streets of Bangkok. Sanook reported that the couple from Singapore - with the woman filming and the man joining in the argument - had agreed a price of 150-160 baht to go from Central World to Surasak. A little over halfway to their destination at Chong Nonsri the tuk-tuk driver demanded 300 baht, causing the argument. There was plenty of swearing in Thai and English and the tuk-tuk driver engaged in some face pointing. He also reportedly tried to slap the camera and push the couple and when they wanted to film his registration plate he detached it for them. Top police were soon on the driver's case and Thongkham Chertchai, 57, was taken to the Thungmahamek police station where he was fined 1,000 baht for having the wrong licence. Picture: Sanook He was warned about his impolite behavior and taken to the DLT for three hours of training to be a more respectful and better driver. Attitude adjustment training. His details were recorded and the tourist police contacted the Singaporean embassy to deflect the negative press for Thailand. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-06 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
