NE: Hunt on for "cruel man" who shot and hurt family's pet dog that got out in the street Sanook Thai Caption: Why did you shoot the little (doggie)? Sanook Thai Caption: Why did you shoot the little (doggie)? Sanook reported that social media in Khon Kaen, north eastern Thailand, was full of comment after a family's pet dog was shot in the street. The assailant was carrying a rifle and riding a bicycle before he fled the scene. The dog - a five year old male of Thai breed by the name of Minion - got out when a delivery man arrived and the gate was opened, according to the owner. But the owner admitted they often let the dog out in the morning. Relatives in the house related how they heard barking and a shot. The shot ripped into the dog's abdomen and upper leg and ruptured a lung. Vets said that from now on the animal will only be able to hobble along on three legs. Chief of the Muang district police Pol Col Preecha Kengsakij said his men were actively seeking a tall, thin man aged about 30-40 who was carrying a rifle. After studying CCTV he called the attack "brazen" and promised a quick arrest. Sanook did not mention anything about dog owners allowing their pets to run in the street, notes ASEAN NOW. They just posed the question as to who would shoot a "nong" calling the perpetrator cruel. While shooting an animal like this is deplorable and could attract a two year prison sentence, many people are fed up with irresponsible owners who let their dogs out to defecate in the street or bite people, suggests ASEAN NOW. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-05 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Bangkok launches pilot separated food waste collection service The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has launched a pilot project to use specially-designed compressed garbage trucks which have separate bins for food waste, in the hope of reducing the costs of garbage disposal. According to Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, the special garbage trucks, which are painted in green with a bold statement which reads “No Mixing (of food waste)”, will initially be introduced in Phaya Thai, Pathumwan and Nong Khaem districts for a month, after which the City Hall will assess the results. Pattaya: Restaurant owner goes to police to report customer's post - she's forced to "grovel" with flowers Picture: Sanook A customer of a restaurant in Pattaya was forced to grovel with the presentation of flowers in a huge bouquet after she angered the owner of the restaurant. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1270951-pattaya-restaurant-owner-goes-to-police-to-report-customers-post-shes-forced-to-grovel-with-flowers/ -
Picture: Sanook A customer of a restaurant in Pattaya was forced to grovel with the presentation of flowers in a huge bouquet after she angered the owner of the restaurant. Wiphada, 53, went on TikTok to moan after getting home and realising she'd been given vegetarian fried rice instead of "khao phat talay" - seafood fried rice. She thought she'd ordered the more expensive dish for her kid. The owner of Mum Aroi (delicious corner) went to the Bang Lamung police and filed a report immediately about damage to her business. At the weekend a contrite Wiphada - whose face was vaselined out in the Sanook round-up of events - presented the expensive looking bouquet to Wanphen Tophanich. Wiphada said it had all been a misunderstanding and she was sorry for any damage she might have done to the reputation of the restaurant. Sanook said it had all ended happily as the wais were made. This in defamation crazy Thailand where customers who complain can find themselves in trouble with the police. Picture: Sanook Even if they are in the right, notes ASEAN NOW. Wiphada groveled: "I didn't mean to cause them damage, I was in a mood and didn't check the bill. I'll try to think more in the future (before posting) so it doesn't happen again. I'm so sorry. "We are regular customers and we'll definitely be going back to this restaurant," she continued effusively," "The owner is so lovely with a wonderful temperament". Wanphen said that her staff are well trained in taking orders and that she accepted the customer apology and would remove the police complaint. She was pictured smiling by the Pattaya beachfront, her reputation intact. ASEAN NOW cautions against publicly shaming businesses in Thailand - even if you think you're in the right the law will most likely side with the business. Not you. Sanook Thai Caption: Lost it on hillside bend Sanook reported from Route 304 in the area between KM markers 233 and 234 where there were three accidents yesterday. It is a steep hillside section in Thai Sammakhi sub-district of Nakhon Ratchasima (Korat) heading towards Prachinburi that is especially treacherous and slippery in the rain. Locals call it "Khong Chalat Pru" - the tricky or smart bend that catches the unwary. There is plenty of signage warning motorists and one kilometer of cones yet accidents continue to happen. Picture: Sanook On Sunday 7 navy recruits travelling back to Sattahip in a Toyota van were injured when their vehicle overturned. The driver Chattrakan, 50, who was uninjured said he lost control in the wet weather. Recruits aged 19-21 were taken to Wang Nam Khiaw Hospital. Then a family in a pick-up ended up in the central reservation at the exact same spot. The driver slowed to see the accident to the van and couldn't control his vehicle. His wife and one year old child were injured. Two hours later a Vios ended up leaving the road surface and was headed for a ravine but fortunately stopped in time and there were no injuries. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-05 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. By Thanachate Wisaijorn The border regions of the northeast Thailand, one of the regions that was most severely impacted from the impact of the outbreak of the Covid-19 pandemic, is starting to see some light at the end of the tunnel as cross border trade between the sister cities starts to pick up. The northeast region, which has seen those considered to be ‘less fortunate’ numbers rise over the past 2-years, as the income from tourism, manufacturing and other related industries shrink, is starting to benefit from the opening of the border trade between Thailand and Laos. As is the case in most countries around the world, border crossing among those living within the proximity of the demarcation line is a common factor, so is the case with those living in the northeast of Thailand where border crossing into Loas is a very common practice, at least it was the case pre-pandemic.
