Crazy Asian hotels are being created for the selfie generation by Michael Bridge File photo Taking a selfie has now become a great marketing tool allowing restaurants and attractions to promote online to millions of followers for free. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1270790-crazy-asian-hotels-are-being-created-for-the-selfie-generation/ -
File photo by Michael Bridge Taking a selfie has now become a great marketing tool allowing restaurants and attractions to promote online to millions of followers for free. How many people are seen posting at Bangkok’s Mahanakhon Tower or at the 3d Mermaid restaurant at Pattaya’s Cozy Beach. The beleaguered hospitality industry has now realized that unique and unusual hotels can also become a trend for selfie mad tourists as well. Across Asia local and international tourists are being attracted by crazy designed hotels and are helping these establishments to promote their businesses online to a global audience…for free!! Here in Thailand, we have the River Kwai Jungle Rafts Floating Hotel. All floating rooms are tucked into a floating bamboo lodge moored along the historical River Kwai Noi surrounded by lush green mountains and jungle. Each is appointed with en-suite private bathroom, balcony, and a hammock. Due to our ecology conservation concept, the entire floatel does not use electricity but rather utilizes traditional kerosene lamps at night maintaining a true eco hideaway in nature. Another unusual hotel is The Bangkok Tree House which is surrounded by forest on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. File photo This quirky guesthouse with bamboo and glass architecture is accessible by boat, bike, or foot only and it's 1 km from Bang Krachao Pier. Although unusual Thailand perhaps is lagging behind its Asian neighbour’s when it comes to weird hotels. Over in the northern region of Vietnam’s Moc Chau, they are putting the finishing touches to the Bullet train hotel located overlooking the World’s longest pedestrian glass bridge. Hidden in Vietnam's northwestern hills is a hotel resembling the shape of a high-speed train. Check out this video. https://e.vnexpress.net/news/travel/bullet-train-hotel-a-new-stop-in-northern-hill-town-4502317.html Although not yet opened, the hillside accommodation in Moc Chau immediately will attract the attention of young people because of its novel and unusual design. File photo The hotel ship has a length of 225 meters and includes 28 rooms will open on September 2nd, 2022. From the front of the train to the end of the train, each compartment is a room with a capacity of rooms from 2 to 16 people. The Bach Long Glass Bridge which is the longest pedestrian bridge in the world is already one of the most photographed attractions in Vietnam so by adding the Bullet Hotel expect this hotel to go viral. Artist’s impression of the Bus Resort. Not to be outdone Singapore’s Changi Village Bus Resort will open next April. After many years of plying Singapore’s roads, some of their public buses are being re cycled to convert into 20 well-furnished rooms with Exterior BBQ Areas. They will be repurposed into rooms of about 28 sqm in size. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-03 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. By Thai Enquirer NT State Enterprise Union group came out to petition their displeasure with the recent study conducted by the research arm of Chulalongkorn University – Chula Unisearch as it failed to mention many of the issues that pertain to the mega merger deal between Thailand’s 2nd largest mobile phone operator – True Corporation Plc (TRUE) and 3rd largest operator – Total Access Communications Plc (DTAC). The union’s representatives travelled to hand in their petition of disapproval of the study and Prof Dr Parichart Sthapitanonda, Vice President for Academic Affairs and Social Outreach at Chulalongkorn University, was delegated to receive the document. The petitioning follows on from news in which appeared that the National Broadcasting & Telecommunication Commission (NBTC) had hired Chula Unisearch to perform a study and analysis of the business merger between TRUE and DTAC. The NBTC has reportedly paid 10 million Baht for this service. German Displaying Anti-Prawit Photo Flees To Bangkok TNR Staff A YOUNG German man who displayed a photo of caretaker Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan with a red cross over it at a traffic island in Mueang district of Rayong province yesterday (Sept. 1), quickly fled to Bangkok last night after police came to his house to gave a warning, Matichon newspaper said. Mr. Moritz Pfoh, 35, whose nickname is Pumpkin, said he has been in Thailand for eight years now and has been recently living with his girlfriend at this coastal city’s Mae Ramphueng beach. He explained that he displayed this anti-Prawit sign because he pitied Thai people as most of them, upto 90%, neither like Gen. Prawit nor Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha, who has been suspended by court until a ruling is handed down on this eight-year tenure, but they can’t say anything. TNR Staff PRIME MINISTER Prayut Chan-o-cha, who has been suspended while awaiting a court ruling on his eight-year tenure, annoyed his fan club in Ayutthaya province during a flood inspection trip earlier yesterday (Sept. 2) by not greeting them but later sent them a basket of fruit that cheered them up, Matichon newspaper said. Mrs. Kanlayanee Chuprang, or Aunt Ayutthaya, a political activist who earlier said she was offended because Gen. Prayut, who had visited in the province in his concurrent capacity as Defence Minister, had not greeted them not even rolling down his car window to wave to them even though they had come to encourage him. However upon getting the basket of fruit from him and getting an explanation that he was not able to wave from his car because the window could not be lowered as it was a bullet-proof vehicle, she said she now fully understands what happened and hoped he stays the prime minister for a long time. Moritz P. and the framed portrait of acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan which he used to stage a number of silent protests during the week in Rayong. The 35 year old told reporters on Friday that he received a visit from local police officers who checked his documentation. The German national says he was told that if he continued such activities, he ran the risk of losing his visa. by James Morris and Son Nguyen A German man living in Thailand with a Thai wife staged numerous silent protests this week in Rayong but was warned off by police officers on Thursday who visited his home. His case is similar to that of French man Yan Eric Marchal who hit the headlines in 2019 with a viral video targeting Prime Minister Prayut Chan ocha. Mr Marchal, despite similar cautions and promises to discontinue his activities, remained controversial with numerous online incidents and outbursts against the government and higher authorities. He was ultimately deported and blacklisted from Thailand. A German man, on Friday, claimed he had been given a warning by Thai police officers not to continue his silent protest activities seen this week in Rayong in which he targeted the acting Prime Minister Prawit Wongsuwan. Moritz P. told reporters that he had apologised to the officials concerned for his actions and would instead channel his political opinions into his art. Nonetheless, it is understood that the German and his Thai wife are planning to participate in this weekend’s protests against the government’s leadership being organised by Redshirt leader Jatuporn Prompan in Bangkok.
