They were among key suspects including local politicians, police and military personnel for the illegal immigration of Rohingya people. They were identified after the discovery of about 30 dead Rohingya migrants in a forest on Khao Kaew mountain in Sadao district of Songkhla in May 2015. Naew Na Thai Caption: Cunning python! It hid by a duck coop swallowing one a day Naew Na reported on what they called was a cunning python who took up residence hiding next to a duck coop helping itself to one feathered friend a day. But while that may have kept the doctor away, the snake catchers were soon on its case. Yesterday afternoon guys from Tai Teck Tung in Nakhon Sri Thammarat, southern Thailand were called to Prik sub-district in Thung Yai. There at a house Chaiyan Khongmai, 49, said that a large python had been slithering in from hollow soil by the coop. After a bit of digging they found the miscreant coiled up and soon had the 4 meter long 25 kilogram snake in custody. Chaiyan said that from 20 days ago his flock of ducks had reduced by one or two a day. He thought a two legged thief was responsible at first until he caught the snake going back to its lair, red mouthed as it were. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-02 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. A Thai woman, who claims that she was forced into prostitution in Dubai but managed to escape, is appealing for help from state agencies for three other Thai women forced to work in a massage parlour there against their will. The 40-year-old native of the north-eastern province of Si Sa Ket lodged a complaint with the Thai media yesterday (Thursday), together with an image of a room in which she claimed to have lived after she was deceived by a Thai broker promising work as a gardener in Dubai on a salary of 80,000-100,000 baht per month. She claimed that, instead of working as a gardener, she ended up working as a waitress in a restaurant and was subsequently “sold” by her employer to work in a massage parlour and forced into prostitution by the new employer, adding that she would be beaten and detained if she refused. Lawyer wants tougher penalties for sex offenders - justice minister reveals "chemical castration" deal Picture: INN Top Thai lawyer Sitha Biabangkert - known as Lawyer Tam - took three female victims of sex offenders to meet with justice minister Somsak Thepsuthin yesterday, reported INN. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1270724-lawyer-wants-tougher-penalties-for-sex-offenders-justice-minister-reveals-chemical-castration-deal/ -
Picture: INN Top Thai lawyer Sitha Biabangkert - known as Lawyer Tam - took three female victims of sex offenders to meet with justice minister Somsak Thepsuthin yesterday, reported INN. The victims through their lawyer are calling for tougher sentences on sex offenders, especially those who use their position of power or authority and who might well reoffend because of their status, blatantly disregarding the law. The first lady was named as Jaibua Hidding, a 26 year old actress of mixed Thai/Holland parentage who was sexually molested by a police major in Bang Phlat. The other two ladies - one a celebrity too - were assaulted by a man called Aphisit who is the relative of a former minister and one who was the victim of a man called Prin, a former deputy leader of a political party. Tam said that many of his clients had fallen victim to people in the civil service or powerful individuals who had influence and there was a fear they would reoffend on release. The sentences need to be made tougher to deter others. Suthin said that new legislation called JSOC was awaiting royal consent. If approved it would mean that offenders could face having to wear Electric Monitoring anklets on release for up to ten years. This would be up to a court's discretion. If that was done and they were the subject of a further allegation they could be held for three days and then the court asked to detain them thereafter. Regarding chemical castration the minister revealed that it could only be done if the offender enters a rehabilitation program and opts for the procedure. If it is done it would lower their sexual desire and lead to an agreed reduction in their sentence. -- © Copyright ASEAN NOW 2022-09-02 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
