BANGKOK (TNA) — The government expects COVID-19 and economic situations to improve continuously as the number of new daily cases is stable and new fatalities are below 20 a day, according to the government's spokesman. Spokesman Thanakorn Wangboonkongchana said Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha was satisfied with the local COVID-19 situation after the new academic year had started and entertainment places including pubs, bars and karaoke shops had received the government's green light to reopen on June 1. New daily cases were falling faster than expected while new fatalities remained below 20 a day for four days in a row. The prime minister hoped that the COVID-19 situation would improve continuously and would not affect economic stimulation in the second half of this year, Mr Thanakorn said. By Panithan Onthaworn The University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce (UTCC) lowered Thailand’s economic growth forecast for 2022 to 3.1 per cent on Thursday, citing growing inflationary pressures. The UTCC’s previous forecast was 4.2 per cent growth in November last year, when the Russia-Ukraine war had not yet disrupted the global energy and commodity prices. “Growing inflation has weakened demand across the world and forced the governments of major economies to raise interest rates,” said Wichian Kaewsombat, assistant director of the UTCC’s Centre for Business and Economic Forecasting. Thai Health Ministry to reportedly propose nationwide green zones The Thai Health Ministry will reportedly propose reclassifying the entire nation into relaxed zone designations and restore normal nightlife operating closing hours to the Center for Covid-19 Situation (CCSA) in the upcoming meeting on June 17th. Public Health Minister Anutin Charnvirakul revealed today, June 16th, that the Ministry of Public Health would propose a nationwide color-rezoning into the green zone or the surveillance zone to the CCSA in the upcoming meeting tomorrow June 17th. The proposal, according to the minister, was already put into the meeting agenda. When questioned about petitions from nightlife operators to revert the legal closing hours to pre Covid-19 hours, the minister answered that he had consulted this issue with Dr. Kiattipoom Wongrachit, Health Ministry Permanent-Secretary, and Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, Director-General of the Disease Control Department. Both agreed to extend the closing hours by another 1-2 hours, which meant nightlife places could open until around 2 a.m. based on their current closing hours at midnight, as long as the remainder of the CCSA agreed. “The extension is fine as long as the nightlife places follow the rules and do not open overnight until dawn,” Minister Anutin said “However, it still depends on the CCSA.” Full Story: https://thepattayanews.com/2022/06/16/thai-health-ministry-to-reportedly-propose-nationwide-green-zones-restore-regular-nightlife-closing-hours/ -- © Copyright The Pattaya News 2022-06-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. The minister claimed yesterday (Wednesday) that placing cannabis flowers under control will help ease concerns over their recreational abuse. Anutin said the new regulation clearly specifies that people who can access the controlled herb must be over 20 years old and that pregnant and breast-feeding women are barred from access. by Krajangwit Johjit BANGKOK (NNT) - Public Health officials recommend people get booster doses every four months to maintain immunity against Covid-19. Dr. Opas Karnkawinpong, director-general of the Department of Disease Control (DDC), stated that the recommendation was based on data indicating that Covid-19 immunity decreases around three to four months after vaccination. He advised people in high-risk groups, such as the elderly, those with underlying health conditions, and pregnant women, to get booster shots every four months to ensure a strong immune system. People who travel abroad or have weakened immunity are advised to do the same. The DDC’s subcommittee on disease immunity has also approved the 25 micrograms per dose of Moderna vaccine for children aged 6 to 11 years old. Another study confirmed by public health officials found that using Sinovac as the first dose, followed by a Pfizer shot, can boost immunity in children aged 5 to 11. The subcommittee assures that people can receive other vaccines even if they receive the Covid-19 vaccine on the same day, with the exception of viral vector vaccines, which require a gap because they use live viruses to carry DNA into human cells, and simultaneous injection would reduce vaccine efficiency. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-06-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m. Real Estate Demand Expected to Fall Due to Inflation and Rate Hikes by Krajangwit Johjit BANGKOK (NNT) - Rising inflation and interest rate hikes are expected to dampen demand for real estate and mortgages this year. Full story: https://aseannow.com/topic/1263004-real-estate-demand-expected-to-fall-due-to-inflation-and-rate-hikes/ -
by Krajangwit Johjit BANGKOK (NNT) - Rising inflation and interest rate hikes are expected to dampen demand for real estate and mortgages this year. The Real Estate Information Center (REIC) predicts that the Bank of Thailand’s Monetary Policy Committee will raise its policy rate twice in the second half of this year. The headline inflation rate is expected to reach 6% and overall property market growth in 2022 will be around 3%. With the projected interest rate hikes, people looking to buy a home or seek a mortgage are likely to postpone their plans until the situation improves. Home transfers in the first quarter of 2022 have contracted by 30% year-on-year due to the impact of the pandemic. Second-hand home demand, on the other hand, has increased at a record 9.3% year on year due to lower prices and government incentive schemes. According to Kitti Pattanapongpiboon, chairman of the Housing Finance Association, second-hand homes will become even more popular due to their static price with excess supply and the situation in the non-performing asset (NPA) market. The Housing Finance Association will also host the "2022 Home-Loan NPA Grand Sale" exhibition to help mortgage clients and attract home buyers and property investors. The expo will take place on July 1-3, 2022. -- © Copyright NNT 2022-06-16 - Cigna offers a range of visa-compliant plans that meet the minimum requirement of medical treatment, including COVID-19, up to THB 3m.
