obtained a Non-O in neighboring country based on married to a Thai. When he went to Jomtien to apply for one year extension, he did so for "retirement"
Wasn't that just looking for trouble. My guess is that somewhere there is a reason to the drought of Non-O visas for retirement. Could it be that IB wants to push retirees to use Non OA or Non OX?

I am certainly not going to pay 6500 Bahts for a test which will be of no benefit to me. What happens if I am tested positive? I'll be sent to one of these prison camps, where I could well die from deprivation from the normal comforts of life. And if I develop the dreaded pneumonia no hospital in Thailand will be able to help me anyway. So follow the social distancing recommendations and hope for the best is the only choice we have.

Indeed, these two words together present a threat to the planet much greater than any virus. Maybe we the coronavirus might end up saving lives through a timely revelation of the potentially lethal extent of the nationalism developing in some countries.

I have 90k worth of non refundable hotel bookings 2 weeks in Koh Chang, next week and 1 week in Krung Thep and of April. Looks more and more likely that I will write off the 90 Grands, chill out at home, in Issan, and entertain the kids the best I can.

Is not thai virus. Is foreign.
So, when you say the virus isn't Thai don't you infer that the said virus has a nationality? Which is it?
Just hope that the coming generation will see "Nationality", just like Religion as BS that slows progress and threatens the preservation of our species and its environment.

It appears that the officer concerned became infected after wiping his face with an infected plastic glove after handling passports of incoming tourists.
I have to admire the depth of their investigation. But they deliberately omit the fact that he used his middle finger.

Yeah, there is that guy who paid a fortune to relinquishes US citizenship. The is nothing better in the world than being Thai.

This is how they caught most of those worked from South Korea who absconded from quarantine. They were reported by members of their own villages. Bad news spreads quickly these days.

It's amazing that you didn't detect a hint of sarcasm in my post, especially as I mentioned that I suspect the official numbers are pure lies.
Maybe I shouldn't post at 3am..

Having incredibly low numbers will be a magnet for anyone looking to escape the plague, it won't matter if the numbers are pure lies (as I suspect).
If you weren't already in Thailand you'd be the only one coming, as no one believes the "incredible" BS figures provided by the Thai authorities. The only reason for people coming for holidays now is that they made non refundable bookings before the outbreak started.

Stopped buying paper books years ago. Have thousands of ebooks somewhere on my hard disks waiting to be read. Got them free of charge, most of them. Nothing is easier to find than the full set of the other of your choices. Is this bad, not sure, we used to borrow books from each others, didn't we. And how about those who sell second hand books, is it legal?
BTW PDF isn't the best format for ebooks, and "Calibre" is a beautiful piece of free software that can handle/convert all formats available. Comics may need some special attention though.

Amazing how much racism emerges in this Covid 19 context, here on this forum and elsewhere.

I'm only a "Newbie", but frankly this thread should get pinned, just to remind us that nothing has changed since the middle ages, when they were burning witches and unbelievers to stop the plague. Maybe I should join the younger crowds on "R@**it".

Something I don't get here !? Why would one masturbate in LOS with so much cheap and willing pu**y around. Would be the epitome of perversion.

Hasn't been cured, but has become a chronic disease, and in Thailand as well, where it cause much less damage than motorbikes and pickup trucks. But, how Covid 19 will compare to these existing public health issues we will probably know. One thing I am pretty sure of now, is that the panic will cause more harm than the disease itself. This thread being an illustration of what is looming here.
Maybe it is worth reminding that Covid 19 will cull mostly geezers (like me), which could have also beneficial effects. But most of us are more likely to die from a heart attack caused by the sight of a sexy girl in a mini skirt, not by any virus she may be infected with, be it Covid 19 or HIV.

On Friday (March 6), The Mall Bangkae department store in Bangkok closed shops at risk of Covid-19 from March 6 to 8, for cleaning and sterilising, after being visited by a labourer who had just returned from South Korea.
The mind boggles. In the meantime they happily keep killing each other on the road, or even by firearm, because that looks so much cooler.

Guess they're gonna reopen in December with rates raised 50% and 100% Burmese staff.

I have modelled the number of victims depending on the global infection rate (current estimates 40% to 70% of world population) and the mortality rate (current WHO estimate is 3.4). Interesting isn't?

Corruption everywhere, see many here. Simply beats me how Falangs, from a Western culture that just 12 years ago damned near put the entire world into financial failure, can complain about a cop with his hand out.
Face it, when it comes to major greed, Thais are amateurs.
You got it all wrong. Prosperity stems from free enterprise under the rule of law. With a totally corrupt law enforcement gone is the rule of law. Hence the sorry condition of Thai masses. The 20000 THB fine will have no other effect than having more money flowing up the RTP pyramid.
