I can't see tourism starting in a big way again for a long time.
Tourism will not restart before a successful vaccination campaign has been carried out worldwide. And to that, depending on the devastation of the economies, you can add one or more years before potential tourists even think of flying out to a place like Thailand, or what will be left of it. 3 to 5 years would be my guesstimate.

My lady is loving it. She went to AUS early February to visit our son in Melbourne, was due to return 31st March. Flight cancelled now stuck in Melbourne, she didn't want to come back anyway.
And I guess this leaves you with Internet dating, or maybe some escort sites? Mia Noi maybe?

Every day they try to be more stupid than the previous day...and they succeed !
Bring my landlord for visa extension... ????
how they can beat that tomorrow ?
Yes indeed, your landlord, when you stay in a hotel! In my opinion this is a deliberate work (and infection risk) avoidance tactic in one particular IO. They set up a totally irrelevant form and requirements so that people prefer not tu use these visa extensions. They have seen the crowds that have been caused elsewhere and don't want to face the same upheaval (and a possibly deadly disease).

The London flu, much worse than the Wuhan flu !!
Indeed, since you get one of the worst kind of Farangs on top of the Wuhan flu. Thai scientists have decided to call it Wuhan Gin Pom flu.

Isn't this the main reason why they hate us at the highest, even unspeakable of, levels of this authoritarian regime?
We give their underlings a glimpse of what a true modern democracy would be.. Them referring constantly to national security when it comes to immigration matters just proves that they see every single one of us as an "agent provocateur".
Now, when it comes to the general population I'd say that the disdain of Farangs exists, but in a proportion that remains to be determined. Sadly the common Thais are gullible and they tend to believe the unsubtle BS fed by their masters.

Well the US effort has been spearheaded by a chimp, so the for Thais it will be a Farang.

Whilst I await the avalanche of doubters to comment, I have met up with a fellow inmate at the Condo whose Cousin is one of the World's leading Virologists who was flown in by Singapore to help them at the start of this crisis. I assume therefore he knows more about what he is talking about than me and 99.999% of us on this Forum. To cut a long story short he said that 3 countries were well placed to deal with CV-19 - Singapore, Taiwan and believe it or not Thailand. Whether he is right or wrong, it has given me a little more confidence in what is happening here. BTW I had an Antibody Test this morning and it was negative - booooo!
He isn't so clever after all, as he hasn't hasn't foreseen the obvious success of the Republic of Korea..
And, can one get some sort of an epidemiology certification for being the cousin of a leading virologist?

Work from home in Thailand? You gotta be joking! The Thai government is addicted to paper; can you imagine people ferrying trolleys full of photocopies from the office, to work from their 30 sqm condos? WFH would be simply disguised paid unemployment. And I refrain from commenting on the attitude of the unsupervised average Thai worker. There is no alternative to lock down and food stamps.

Still 40% for Trump, after the guy showed a totally erratic track record in the COVID crisis, appalling. Vote for loud shallow talk and posturing.

I am utterly disappointed, when I read the title I thought the Thai "nurses" would come up with something like an N69 mask.

Approx 120 new cases every day. You wonder if this reported linear increase is because the number of tests that can be carried out is limited to a very low number. You would think there should be some exponential increase by now.
It probably reflects the exodus after they closed off Bangkok (geographical progression), the explosion is to come soon and will affect the whole country at once.

The process seems rather straightforward if you are a genuine [stranded] tourist staying at a Hotel.
This leads me to believe that they are targeting the people who abused the visa system with endless streams of tourist visas, border runs etc... In other words they don't want to turn Coronavirus into a free lunch for a herd they have undertaken to cull for the last 3 years.

Yes, and his name is Greg WISEMAN... Hard to believe.

More people died last year in Italy, of pulmonary issues in two weeks time, than the total number of worldwide deaths to date from corona.
Frankly you should check your figures before posting such nonsense. When you wrote there 38000 deaths worldwide, (and we have more than serious doubt about the Chinese figures) so you are saying that in Italy only there are (38000 x 26) 988000 people a year dying from pulmonary disease.

I'll turn 74 next Tuesday, and have no intention NOT to go out for shopping once every one or two weeks. Besides some food and wine, I will make sure to always carry some Tylenol just bought from a nearby pharmacy......
Well, Tylenol and a couple of condoms. Who knows?

Isn't COVID a golden opportunity to rethink this place 100%? They should hire consultants from Korea or Singapore to come up with some plan plan as no-one in Thailand has the brain, nor backbone, for that sort of achievement.
