Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
redwood1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
It looks to me like they have pretty much thrown in the towel on getting Thais to pay any taxes..Rich or Poor.... But hey maybe we can get a few bread crumbs from retired expats with pensions, who have a fixed incomes and a limited budget every month... Turning expats retirement years into a living tax hell. sounds like their plan.... -

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
redwood1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This is a point I have brought up many times..... Most all country's that ask people to pay tax also throw in some sweeteners....Take the USA.......Paying you taxes also gives you the option to pay into Social Security...And gives you access to medicare health care.... Same in Thailand....Paying your taxes gives you the option to pay into Social Security and heath care for Thais and farangs with a work permit.... And Now they are hoping that retired expats who have never worked one day in their life in Thailand, and most with no business interest or investments at all in Thailand and who also have no rights and are treated like children by immigration with 90 day check ins and what not... Will be happy to shell out for taxes and and be given a big fat ZERO in return.... Any one who thinks this is in any way fair is just a stupid sheep that deserves to be sheared.... -

Thailand to tax residents’ foreign income irrespective of remittance
redwood1 replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
This was why the LTR visa was created... The LTR visa was created to make sure the very well-off and rich never have to pay any taxes... The way they look at things its just wrong to make the very wealthy pay any taxes.....Taxes are only for the middle class and the poor.... -

New Tax Rules for Expats in Thailand Spark Concern
redwood1 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
It seems only 6.5% of Thais pay any income tax in Thailand.....So we are not talking just millions of Thais who dont pay Taxes.....We are talking 10s of millions of Thais that dont pay.... The farang retiree expats are not even even one drop in the tax water bucket.... And most expats live off un-taxable Social Security, and pensions...
