  1. Do they now? i must be spending too much time with literate adults.
  2. Don't forget vegans. if you view the airplane piece as satire its right on the money. Admittedly i stopped after the vegan bit
  3. Given that most stores use electronic/computerized tills, ringing the purchase up is more of an issue than receiving payment. My phone works during most power outages, and unless the internet to the city has gone down, you should still be able to make payment. I have seen plenty of 7-11s refuse cash during a power outage, online banking is not the issue here. recording the purchase is. And how does a quick scan and transfer take longer than using a credit/debt card? Last time I tried to use my card they tried 2 machines and asked if I could scan, but i had forgotten my phone so i had to come back and try again later.
  4. and why not use merit-based hiring policies and see where things level out?
  5. This seems to be the consensus on the island. a lover's spat gone horribly wrong. not sure what weed has to do with it, or how frequently that causes violent death. Id say meth and coke are far bigger problems on the island where drugs are concerned.
  6. I would reckon you have never had a good drunk argument. and monkey house? wtf? are you four?
  7. wow what a crock of <deleted> that could've been condensed into just one paragraph.
  8. I don't see how enforcing taxi rate regs would be a police matter, but bringing taxi meter rates in line with today's cost of living would be a good start at reducing additional charges. Then destroy them with fines if they transgress.
  9. I have a house there and have been visiting since 1994. now explain to me again how whether or not the dude had a work permit is germane to being clubbed to death.
  10. what a remarkably ignorant line of questioning.
  11. ??? https://www.lazada.co.th/products/branston-original-pickles-i4058665219-s15812799815.html?
  12. have you read the first sentences of the OP?
  13. yes. I made communication a priority in my first few years here.
  14. No, I don't think so, though admittedly, memories are hazy. Chi is for sure the shortest lived. It only opened a few random nights after its grand opening.
  15. i prefer to fend for myself rather than depend on someone else for such basic interactions
  16. no, that is not the issue. nor is it the fact that they show the price of the cheapest item (ie a set of headphones costing 3000 baht with the listing also showing a 300 baht carrying case -- the listing will show 300 baht). It is with single items.
  17. I do agree there. I have been finding shoppee cheaper for some higher cost items lately though, especially cycling gear. What i have noticed with Lazada lately is that on some items it shows a price in the search preview, but when you click through its a few hundred baht more. That annoys me no end
  18. because I can never be certain where I will be when the stuff is delivered and I don't want to faff about. For example, I was taking a dump this am when I heard the phone ring to alert me the delivery was coming. I continued with my business and when I came downstairs the item was waiting in my mailbox. if it had been COD I would have received a failure to deliver notice and the guy would have had to come back over the next couple days.
  19. They don't double the bloody order, you somehow manage to double select goods. Given the difficulties you have experienced, ain't no one involved in this transaction that is crafty
  20. Well done, are you aware of what metaphor means?
  21. Jesus I just remembered The Tunnel on langsuan, or was it wittayu. That place was short lived but epic as well. Alot of the visiting djs would do the after parties there. There was also chi, bed moved and painted gold, but I don't think that opened for more than 2 or three nights. Sure wish I could remember the name of the cabaret as well.
