- Who's the oldest falang with a Thai drivers licence?
80 …renewed mine a few weeks go … will I be around in another 5 years ………- Visit Australia Thai National with UK Passport.
We are considering visiting my son. Is it still the case for her to exit and enter Thailand on her Thai Passport and enter and exit Australia using her UK Passport. Do we both need to get something like an e-visa. Also have to renew her UK Passport as it has nearly run out. I read that when applying to renew her UK Passport that we need to copy all pages of her Thai Passport which has also expired. If we don’t renew until after applying for her UK passport, would it mean that we don’t have to copy pages of her expired passport?- Selling my hybrid car in Thailand. Advice please
If it’s a Merc or BM you might get 750k for it if mileage is reasonable. Replace the front tyres, you probably won’t get anymore but it will help sell. Find a company like Dent Master ..probably cost you 2000thb….thats my opinion, but I’m frequently told that my opinion isn’t worth …..- Anyone bought a "bonded leather" office chair?

We bank with Royal Bank of Scotland. They won't post our debit cards to Thailand. To get around this we change our address to that of my sons in the UK and they send the card to him. He then posts it to us We then change our address back to this country. I think a card lasts five years.- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Thank you ... I had read that. It looks like I'm going to have to get tax advice, but I want to find out as much as possible before. I know how much my Thai Tax bill will be. But I don't know exactly how to calculate my Tax Credits. Do I use my P60 ( the tax shown on that is greater than the tax I owe on the money brough in) or my UK HMRC filing data. There was money in the UK Bank at the end of 2023, but the bank account in the UK is in joint names.- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
I thought that you could gift you wife up to 20million, is that not the case? Anyway she would pay a lower tax rate than me as she doesn't work and we survive on my pension etc.- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
The following might not apply to many but may be of interest to some...my wife has a small number of Bonds and one finishes the end of this month. And the company will no doubt issue another bond, usually BBB+, in the near future. This seems to be how quite a number of company's finance themselves. Companies frequently issue Bond with 4%ish interest So if I transfer money (xKBaht) to her from the UK, she puts it in a separate account until there is a bond issue and then buys a bond in her name alone, that should be 100% OK. She will have, on the Bond Maturity Date (end of this month), an amount of money available for whatever she wants to spends it on ...eg living expenses, and that will be xK Baht less accessible money for me to declare. This should work for a while, and who knows what the future Tax position will be here.- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Some interesting points you raised … thank you Tax bands reversed a couple of numbers …thanks again …thankfully got them right on my UK submission.- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Front what I have read and watching videos it seems that anyone with assessable income, whether they owe tax or not needs to file, and penalty for not filing can be a problem for you. I believe the following is how you calculate whether you owe Thai tax or not … Look at your transfers from the UK and total up your Thai baht …call that A Look at the date of transfers and find the mid-market rate for each transfer and divide that into amount of Thai Baht received. That will give you a GBP figure (quite close to your WISE figure) Add up all the GBP figures and call that B Now you need to calculate your Tax Credits ……..I think it is done like this .. Take figure B and use 0-12750 no tax credit Next 37500 20% tax credit ie £7500 Above 40% times the rest, if you are above £150,000 then 45% that amount. You now know your tax paid. Call this C. Then look up the average GBP to THB over the year and multiply it by C. Call this D Compare A and D. If A is greater than D then you owe tax BUT if you had money in your UK bank account at 31st Dec 2023 you can use this to offset. If D is greater than A no problem. But how you file this???? Guess I need to look at a Thai Tax Form… I expected to be able to use the figure on my P60 but that includes my Government pension so not sure as I see on a video that you calculate as above.. However I also see this... According to the source, when claiming a tax credit under a DTA, the tax credit must not exceed the tax liability payable in Thailand. The highest personal income tax rate in Thailand is 35%. Therefore, if the income tax paid abroad was at a rate of 40%, the Thai tax credit cannot exceed the domestic tax liability, which is capped at 35%. However, the tax calculation in cases where a tax credit is claimed is more complex. If the taxpayer has both domestic income and foreign income that is brought into Thailand, the calculation will become more complex. Any views on my way of calculating please...please!- Thai tax tangle: Expats warned of new rules on overseas income
Please can someone confirm or not Calculating tax credits for a UK person living here and money into Thailand is :- the first £12750 no credits the next £37500 at 20% ie £7,500 after that 40% of the remainder And do you use the midmarket exchange rate on the day or what you send to Wise for each transfer And what about money in your UK bank on 31Dec 2023 ... I read above that there is nowhere on the form to use some of this. Thanks guys- Bangkok River Level Thread - 2025

Thank you that. My wife has planned to take three friends there at the end of this month. She has the choice of taking a mid sized car or an SUV. She will drive to the surrounding area and stay one night up there. 2000thb one room for two people.- Phu Thap Buek Mountain.
I think that is the correct spelling. It must be close on ten years since my wife and I last visited there. I believe that since then a number of the illegal builds have been removed. So thinking about going again. Am wondering if anyone has been there recently and… Is there any where reasonably nice to stay up there and what is the road like up the mountain now. Should a take an SUV or is a car okay. Any suggestions appreciated.- Need to raise height of soil
When we bought the house new, some twenty years ago now it had a lovely lawn and hedge. But over the years both deteriorated. So decided to take the lawn up, hedge out and replace both. To cut a long story short eventually decided that we would lay, well not us, artificial turf with putting green quality material in the middle section, someone is so keen on golf!! We agreed with the guy how we would get rid of the water when it rained and that I would do some preparation work. There will be a section of small stones between the edge of the lawn, to catch the water and then it will be taken out, through a pipe in the corner of each section. The veg is being moved into the into back garden. We have a helper who likes to garden/grow veg. Those blocks were put in months ago by her whilst we were away! Guess those blocks will soon be stacked outside with a ‘help yourself notice’. lol Going to buy a couple of lengths of that material, then can decide if I need to glue two pieces together to increase the strength or not. Thought I’d glue them in position with something like No Nails.- Need to raise height of soil
