  1. What, and highlight tha limitations of the Thai "English teacher's" skills?
  2. "Chinese flights to Thailand remain high," A good idea I would say. Low "terrain following " flying is one thing for military aircraft, great fun for Biggles up the front, and entertaining making the troops in the back sick; but not really the thing for civil airliners. Helps with seeing them on Radar as well don't you know!
  3. The stall I favour sells warm soy milk, which you can ask for sweetened or unsweetened. The tea I brew at home.
  4. Although he does seem to have an unusually long left arm!
  5. Dianna first met Hewitt two years after Harry was born. The "ginger gene" is present in both the Windsor and Spencer families.
  6. It is not complicated at all. The islands were a British possession before Argentina existed. The population, who have been settled on the islands for many generations, are virtually unanimous in wishing to remain British. Argentina will not take their claim to any international arbitration because they know it contradicts the populations right to self determination. In 1982 they invaded and occupied the islands, and were roundly defeated and expelled. The islands are securely garrisoned, and the Argentine military is pathetically ineffective. Argentina is an economic basket case - I read somewhere that they are facing their ninth international debt default? The Port Stanley Girl Guides air rifle team continue to train weekly!
  7. Ah, Monty Python's Yorkshiremen sketch. Always found these documentaries about North Country life absolutely fascinating...
  8. Haven't been for a walk in a Black Forest Gateaux for donkeys years!????
  9. My local small town has two stalls. One changes his oil monthly, whether it needs it or not - his taste pretty foul, only tried them twice - the second time because I reasoned the first time was an aberration - it wasn't! The other stall uses clean oil, and they are light and fluffy; as is the young lady who runs it!
  10. Hmm, very very occasionally a piece of cheesecake. In fact, you have given me an idea for tomorrow when I go to buy some milk at 7/11!
  11. I am sure eating Pa Thong Ko every day for breakfast is not particularly healthy. Eating them occasionally will do no harm. I occasionally buy 10 Baht worth to eat with a cup of tea in the afternoon. Yummy.
  12. Well we have been without water for ten days already. Mind you that is because the Poo- Yah - Ban spent all the money on a new set of loudspeakers so that he can harangue everyone at 6am, rather than repair or replace the pump on the tower which feeds our end of the village with water; it has been on its last legs for a couple of years now. All is not lost, at least he can tell us all as dawn breaks that we will have no water. The pump at the other end of the village, where he and his mates live, works perfectly.
  13. Prince Harry has spent the last two years attempting to do as much damage as possible to his (Royal) family. It can hardly be surprising that the King, who, along with his wife has been one of his main targets is not inclined to provide him with a "pied a terre" within the Crown Estates. Prince Edward ( the late Queens youngest child) is married with two children, one in her first year at university and one at school. Together with his wife the Countess of Wessex he is a hard working member of the Royal Family. Prince Andrew ( the late Queen's second son) is divorced, remains close to his ex wife and has two married daughters and grandchildren. There have been allegations of sexual offences, no charges have ever been brought or real evidence submitted in the US or UK. He has made himself available for interview by the authorities investigating Epstein's affairs. What he has not done is danced attendance on them in New York, which would result in a media circus, and possibly a feeding frenzy by lawyers with political ambitions! He reached an out of court settlement with his accuser, to avoid the affair overshadowing his mother's Platinum Jubilee, and no doubt conscious that she was in the last month's of her life. He is widely regarded as an arrogant pompous individual with a strong sense of entitlement, unpleasant characteristics perhaps but not criminal offences. Personally I think he is a rather sad, perhaps unsavoury, individual; but he was loved by, and loved, his mother, perhaps why he will continue to be provided with a house by his brother the King.
  14. I rather suspect that most of not all such apps are basically repackaged versions of Google Translate.
  15. Frogmore Cottage is owned by the Crown Estate, yes. That doesn't mean that the Sovereign can dispose of it, as a gift or by selling it. The Queen made it available to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex for them to live in, as they were to be "working members" of the Royal Family. They stopped being "working Royals", and beetled off to live in California, completely removing the justification for being provided with a home on the Windsor estate. Harry's subsequent "willie waving" ( or should I say "todger") exploits may not be entirely unconnected with the King's decision...
  16. I wonder, in what part of the country is rubber the major crop, and who are the major plantation owners ( not the little people who go out at 4am to tap it, but the people who own the big plantations)? Just wondering...
  17. Sit on your opinions until you are called after the election!
  18. Another straw floats downriver, the proponents of "Thaidom" reach out to clutch...
  19. Prawit Wongsuwan in trendy clothes with a "bad boy" image! Oh dear, how deeply disturbing?
  20. Well, I suppose there is something about their narrative presentation - after all, newsreel video showed that they are still, a century on, using Mosin rifles and PPSH sub machine guns...
  21. Well just over 200 years ago Napoleon did the same thing to Western Europe...
  22. A quick letter to the Thai Immigration service - sent by DHL as Royal Mail appear to be using the "slow boat to China" should get a response - especially if a £50 note is attached to the request.
  23. On Friday I will collect 3 months worth of medicines ( diabetes and blood pressure) from the local hospital pharmacy, "GPO" branded. I will then compare the price with that quoted in the links you have given. It will be interesting... Of course what I don't know is what would be charged by the pharmacy at a private hospital. I do recall that when I switched from the big private hospital in Chiang Rai to my local government hospital my medication bill went down by about 50%.
