‘Land of Smiles’ fast becoming ‘Land of Russian Crime’
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Southern Thailand News
Whilst there seems to be plenty of involvement by Russian nationals in Thailand across a wide spectrum of illegal activity, and Phuket seems to be their playground of choice, the Soviet union sacked it in 1991 when this bloke was 3! So a bit of stretch refering to him as a former Soviet Bloc criminal! -
The original is comparatively recent. Was comprehensive, widely broadcast. It was extensively analysed, I have seen at least one documentary on the processes which led up to it. It has frankly been done to death. But then, Netflix, with their bizarre obsession with taking over the coals with the British Royal Family...

Donald Trump Forced to Reveal His Finances to Save His Properties
herfiehandbag replied to Social Media's topic in World News
So, in layman's terms, has the cheque bounced? If the bond does not meet the requirements of the court, where does that leave Trump? -
The Tory government, with a firm mandate to govern and a strong majority, stood back clutching their pearls and swooning whilst the Metropolitan Police played their part in holding the windows open for the political defenestration of Boris Johnson - it suited the ambitions of their parliamentary hierarchy. Now the Met Police seem to have effectively declared independence, and rather than policing and enforcing the law "without fear or favour" reserve the right to vary their response, and ignore open criminality, and it rather seems their political masters for "operational reasons"!

It really is quite heartening to see such an ethnically diverse and vibrant group demonstrating with such conviction for freedom of conscience, freedom of speech and tolerance. A tad unfortunate that the camera captured the gentleman on the left hand edge of the picture just as the waistband of his trousers gave way, but as there are for some reason absolutely no women in the crowd I doubt if anyone was offended! Probably a Jewish plot to sabotage the elastic - Mossad will stop at nothing you know!

My toilet seat cracked in-two last week: Am I too heavy?

There are nowadays more medically sophisticated procedures for assessing if ones BMI is too high! There is however an air of simple finality with this method... -
Anutin urges Phuket officials to get tough with foreign offenders
herfiehandbag replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
I've seen him on TV. It's called interference! Without a doubt there are some right plonkers amongst the tourist/expat community in Phuket. Given Anutins umh, known proclivities, putting him in charge of them appears a match made in heaven! -
Fatal Bangkok motorcycle collision leaves unknown foreigner dead
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
OK, let's cut to the quick. You ride at the speed dictated by the road conditions, the traffic conditions, and dare I say it your experience of the driving habits and likely behaviour of other road users. So yes at times, in some places, depending on those factors, progress can be glacial. If, however you have a large motorcycle, consider yourself sufficiently skilled or experienced, or dare I say it entitled to drive at a greater speed, and such an accident should happen, then put bluntly, it is your own <deleted> stupid fault. -
Fatal Bangkok motorcycle collision leaves unknown foreigner dead
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
No, but in traffic, in a built up area, and in the inside lane you don't drive at speeds which, if you collide, throw bodies across the road -
Fatal Bangkok motorcycle collision leaves unknown foreigner dead
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
Very possibly. But we don't know that do we? We can surmise from the way that bodies were thrown about the scene that the large motorcycle was being driven too fast through traffic; umh, falang drivers of motorcycles do this all the time. -

Thai health pushes for alcohol-free Songkran celebrations
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
A meaningless distraction from the most rampant evil excess of Songkran. Young ladies in wet see through spaghetti strap tops! Argh, the anticipation means that I will have to go and lie down in a darkened room! -
Smokin’ scuffle: Foreigner’s taxi tantrum goes viral in Phuket
herfiehandbag replied to snoop1130's topic in Phuket News
For crying out loud, what gets into these people! Apart from walking around with ridiculous facial hair that makes him look like an extra from an Asterix the Gaul movie, he arrives in Thailand, gets off the airplane and promptly picks a fight!- 116 replies

Do you find rich and successful women intimidating?
herfiehandbag replied to bob smith's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Sorry, are we still talking about Bob Smith's taste in women? Or have we moved on to yet another "Dolf" bitchfest - didn't take long did it! -

I've never found a rich or successful business woman. And, do you know Bob, I very much doubt whether you have either. -

This is an English Language forum. It draws much of its material, particularly for international news, from the English Language press and media. I am sure that there are other foreign perverts who are wanted and arrested, just not reported. -

Question for English Teachers
herfiehandbag replied to saintdomingo's topic in Teaching in Thailand Forum
Well going on the Title of the thread, and indeed the wording of the original (your) post it is not an unreasonable assumption! I am no longer an English teacher (retired) but "could have", "would have" and "should have" convey three different meanings.
