Thailand was the most dangerous tourism destination for Brits and Swedes for many years back in the late 90's until the mid 2000's. I wouldn't be surprised if that is still the case given the many incidents we hear about on a daily basis.

Did you actually see men brutally beating women on the show? Was it a regular occurrence? You do not see this in the UK, as it is not culturally acceptable to regularly show men beating women on TV. There may be scenes of domestic violence, but it is dramatised to show it is unacceptable, which is not the case in Thailand, where it is regular, often validated and considered acceptable due to the victim 'cheating'. Thais are far more likely to mimic what they see on TV than people in the UK.

Easy to eradicate if they had a Police force that actually did their job. There's no real punishment for speeding. People will either pay the 500thb fine as it is of no consequence, or simply ignore it and continue on as normal. Mai bpen rai.

I disagree, it is part of their culture, and from the very top down. I take it you don't watch Thai TV. Loads of soap operas showing scenes where men are brutally assaulting females.

I find it remarkable the amount of posters on this thread crying racism and pouring scorn on the Thai Police for arresting these illegal foreign prostitutes. One of the reasons Thailand is such a great place to visit and live is how they deal with these types of people; swiftly and without fear. Well done to the Thai Police.
