Pak Kret sinkhole causes traffic disruption, urgent repairs underway
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
This is fake news. That is NOT a sinkhole. A sinkhole is a natural occurrence caused by erosion. This is yet another example of incompetent road building, where concrete covers of man made drains collapse because of inadequate materiel and planning -
PM Taken To Task For Allegedly Looking To Promote Certain Police Officers
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Interesting concept. Laws are made by politicians not police. Any non enforcement has to be agreed to by the lawmakers. i.e. the politicians who made the law decide not the police. Otherwise we live in a police state where the people (represented by the politicians) have no say -

Single ID Card to Access Healthcare Service in All Networks
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Thailand already has a national ID card system. Why are they bringing in another ID card? Why not just present the Thai national ID card? Seems like someone in the bureaucracy is busy building an empire -
Owner of the truck which fell into a hole in Bangkok released on bail
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
This whole thing is to divert attention from the incompetence of the people who designed and placed the covers. Any vehicle could have dislodged those covers. The fact that the truck was overloaded is incidental. In the previous incident where a pickup dislodged covers and fell into a hole the pickup was not overloaded -
The Farang police in Thailand are unpaid volunteer expats. It seems that we are talking about paid serving Chinese police officers who's primary loyalty is the Chinese state and enforcing Chinese law. I am also aware that police cooperate around the world in drug enforcement agencies you often find embassy advisors working with local police where the final destination for the drugs is their country

Highway Collapses on Sukhumvit Soi 64/1 in Bangkok [video]
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Agreed the concrete panels were easily dislodged i.e. they collapsed they did not break. Thus the weight of the vehicle is irrelevant. No central support to prevent slippage. -

Social Uproar Over Young Monk's Same-Sex Relationship Status on Facebook
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
I don't understand, what are you trying to say? I responded to a rather stupid comment that this furore was because of a possible same sex relationship, which is definitely not true -

Fatal stabbing rocks peaceful village in Nakhon Phanom
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
So he should have allowed the bully to beat him with the stick whilst threatening him with a gun and taken a video at the same time. Of course you are right he should not have defended himself or retaliated -
Fatal stabbing rocks peaceful village in Nakhon Phanom
RobU replied to snoop1130's topic in Isaan News
Sounds like the man was being persistently bullied. The bully arrived at his house threatening him with a gun. He snapped And the stupid bully paid the price. In this case I have some sympathy for the perpetrator who had nowhere to run -
Social Uproar Over Young Monk's Same-Sex Relationship Status on Facebook
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Isaan News
Its not about a 'same sex relationship' Thais are extremely tolerant of that. It's the fact that he is a monk and monks are not supposed to have relationships with women or men, they are supposed to remain celibate -
Highway Collapses on Sukhumvit Soi 64/1 in Bangkok [video]
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Bangkok News
Second incident of this type this week. Overloaded truck or not the concrete slab should not have collapsed. Very poor roadbuilding again. Fortunately no one has been killed in either incident. It seems like the higways authority has a lot to answer for what with electrocuting and killing citizens on a regular basis and badly made collapsing concrete covers -

4 Hurt As Ambulance Jumps Red Light And Hits Pick-Up Truck
RobU replied to webfact's topic in Central Thailand News
Just because the pickup hit the side of the ambulance does not put the pickup driver at fault. It is more likely that the ambulance driver just drove into the path of the pickup and the pickup driver had no time to stop. Sirens are difficult to hear when coming from the side as you approach a junction and blue lights can't be seen if there are buildings in the way so advance warning is often not possible for other drivers. That is why emergency vehicles MUST proceed with extreme caution and slow or even stop at traffic lights and junctions until the other traffic sees and hears them and gives way.
