    Yes....it's called "civilisation".

  2. I am considering purchasing health insurance through a local expats group. Do any of the members here have experience with AXA or other Thai health insurers? I am hesitant to buy from a Thai company but BUPA and others want to charge me 800 dollars a month in premiums. Obviously, I can't do that without a gigantic hit to my lifestyle. I'd like to hear from anyone who has used the Thai companies. If necessary, message me privately. I am not unaware of the propensity of Thai companies to file defamation charges. Thanks.

I am glad now I decided to stay in the Philippines, people don't fall out of hotel windows here, wherever you go they speak at least a little english. In general the people are polite friendly and very willing to share.

Of course there is a bad element here, its not paradise on earth.

But it's easier to live here as a foreigner.

The visa situation is easy keep renewing you tourist visa for 36 months leave the country for 24 hours and return start it all over again.

This is good information. The Philippines would be the obvious choice if I were unable to continue to stay in Thailand. I had no idea you could extend a tourist visa that long before doing a turnaround. Used to be similar in Thailand.

  4. Do you think that they CARE if you can spend money in their shop or not???  Every Thai knows that the laws of economics do not apply in Thailand. If they have an economic downturn, it's all the fault of farangs, never of Thais. Our only function is to pump money into their economy. If they prevent it from being pumped, it's STILL our fault if they don't receive the benefits. Action does not produce reaction in Thailand, nor does anything have consequences unless it's an act performed by a farang.  Outsiders need to internalize these Thai values and understand them. They won't change.
