OK, block off the PVC pipe, and just let water run off via your driveway. If there is any further complaints, just point out its an act of God, or in their case Buddha. Really, as someone else has pointed out, they want you to surface the complete road in gravel, as you have at your front drive.

Decisions, in Thailand, like a bar girls underwear, on again, off again, on again, off again.

I taught my (first) wife, and our three kids to drive. I always stressed to each of them, just remember, every other driver out there is a lunatic, just out to kill you. Many years later, none of them have ever had an accident.(or caused one to my knowledge)

Am I mistaken, or is this the same person who, some time ago, claimed eventually the whole world populace would be speaking Thai. ? And as an addendum, I have never heard his mightiness speak a word of English.. Can he, anybody know???

I used to teach conversation English, on a volunteer basis, to High School students here. The kids were great, especially if I managed to get their regular Thai teacher to leave the classroom while I was there. The kids opened up and actually started to think for themselves on problems I set them, pronunciation, the origin and diversity (confusing) of the English language. If the Thai teacher returned, or hadnt left the classroom, I could see and sense the different attitude of the students, cowed, submissive, actually scared to express an opinion or original thought, in case the teacher disapproved.
As for the standard of spoken English by those teachers supposedly qualified to teach same, I gave up trying to understand their incomprehensible gabble. Everything was regimented, march up and down, salute the flag, sing the national anthem, praise the Royal Family and the religion, with far less time spent on major subjects, such as Mathematics, Geography, Science etc.I unfortunately, gave up in frustration eventually, it was like pushing water uphill with a fork.

I recall reading in a book on Buddhism, The Lord Buddha saying ... Do not worship me, do not make false idols of me, I am not a God, I came to show you the way (to nirvana).... It appears some others have found a way to make money out of anothers beliefs.....

When I bought my revo new, it was fitted with Michelin Tyres. 8 years later, and just over 50,000 Kms, they were not even half worn, but I had to change them as they were starting to look dodgy on the walls. Got Pirellis, 4 for 16,000 Baht, fitted, with 2 year warranty, free alignment and balancing every 10,000 kms, from B Quick shop. Seem Ok, softer running tyre than Michelins. Check manufacturing date on the side wall before they fit them, some shops sell tyres already several years old.

OK, Ive just reported the wife for riding on the footpath. When I get the 20,000 baht reward, I will use part of that to pay her 5000 baht fine, and split the rest with her.. Happy days are here.

You probably know , but us farangs cannot own land in Thailand, so as for YOU buying a house, forget it. Your Thai partner can of course have it in their name, at your peril.

Its is not simply a matter of alcohol or not, most people simply resent being told what they can do and cannot do, and react negatively, especially when it is matter concerning something that is socially normal and acceptable Hence, no booze, no tourists..

Universitys, worldwide, are a business, which is the main reason they encourage high fee paying foreign students.
A certain university in my country recently sought, and employed a firm to investigate as to why so many of their lecturing staff, on not particularly high salaries, were able to afford to own Mercedes Benz, BMW and the like motor vehicles, have expensive homes, and lived a rather lavish life style .
I know, in my day as a student the common joke amongst the students, particularly the females, was "its a lay for an A",
while us poor males had to pay up or else forgo any life and just study, study, study. and hope for the best.

1. Next time you go to any hospital for treatment, just try doing a runner, and see how far you get past those lovely "escorts" who follow you like your shadow to the cashier.
2. When you reach that magical "use by" date set by insurance companys, and your of absolutley no value to them, and your policy is cancelled, come and tell us about it, wont you, and join the compulsory self insured brigade.

As someone else wrote on this forum, quoting a source, "I was dead billions of years before I was born, and knew nothing about it" so I doubt you will know anything about what happens to your body once you die, so why worry, Ive seen many dead people, none of them appeared worried.

It appears, since the 1st of November, when some tourism was allowed, the value of the Thai Baht is increasing.
It is particularly noticeable for the Australian $, which was trading at 24.567 on 1/11, yet today is down to 23.99 baht,
similarly the US $ and the UK pound appear lower as well. Maybe its those thousands and thousands of farangs
flooding the country and spending those untold huge amounts of foreign currency that are causing this??

Its quite simple to fix really, just amend the web page so all those tourists can send their money here, and then stay put exactly where they are.

I retired at age 55, and lived off my own savings, investments in the so called nanny state, which I found quite nice actually. (And I laugh at those using this phrase, .they want everything for free and complain because it isnt) Had a nice house, car, travelled around nationally. Came to Thailand first time in 1988, caught little orange buses everywhere throughout the country, had a hilarious time. Kept coming back annually for 2 or 3 months at a time. Eventually relocated here in 2012, met a good woman, married, bought a house/car /farmland. I was lucky, she is from a poor but good family, dont hassle me, dont ask for money, son in law works the farm on a share basis. My regrets?, age creeping up on me (and the wife), immigration hassles (no agents in our area to go to) attitude of government officials in general, expressing subtle racism, and the way same officials treat the common Thai people as if they are inferior,. cost of living gradually creeping up, came to realise living here permanently is far different to merely holidaying here. but all in not too bad, miss my home country sometimes, wide open spaces, cooler weather, but such is life.

My former neighbour, in my home country, was a senior executive with an international insurance company. He never had insurance himself, and frequently told me it was just a scam, that allowed his company to fly him around the world on "conferences". After he retired, he needed hip replacement surgery, and as I explained in another thread, rather than go on the "wait list" at a major public hospital, had himself booked in, and operated on at a small regional public hospital within a matter of weeks.
As for myself, I would, if I could, take out health insurance, as I had in my home country, which has no age limitations, . However here, because I have reached the "use by" date insurers set, I cannot obtain same,. Therefor I am forced to self insure. and now, I am locked in to staying forever in the land of smiles (?) as travel insurance is also not available to me, and should I leave Thailand, I would be unable to meet the requirements to return. As an explanation, should I renew my health insurance back in my home country, it does not cover me for health problems overseas.

Three times as many bookings as per the previous week. Good , thats three people. And five times as many at another agency. Hold eight seats on the next plane to Thailand.... See, thats creative accounting . T.T.A. practice it every day as well.
-
If you practice creative accounting, 11.1 billion is very easy to achieve. Hell on a quiet day I daydream about my bank balance too.
