The government has no interest in it as I doubt that many ministers take taxis. If they really wanted to solve the problem of drivers not using the meter or refusing a fare, refusing to take money from potential passengers and then claiming they are poor, they only need to get a few dozen, maybe more, soldiers out of their barracks where they do who knows what all day, dress them in civilian clothes and set them the task of trying to actually get a taxi driver to do their job and if they refuse then arrest and fine them a few thousand baht (they can afford it as they are so rich they don't need passengers in their taxi to make money). Second offence, remove their license. If they attack passengers, send them straight to jail. Start outside hotels and shopping malls.
But, as with every law that is ignored, no-one actually cares. It's just the normal way of life which every Thai knows will never change. The problem for Thailand is that sometimes foreigners get caught up in the anarchy and don't accept it as normal, and they don't stick their head in the sand but let others know what has happened. In this case, the Japanese are not too keen on that kind of treatment and might decide there are better places to visit, places with a semblance of law and good manners.
Indeed, but they complain that the tourists don't come in big numbers anymore, But 1 Japanese man will tell his story to his family and they tell it to their friends and so more people are avoiding the country. And this is just 1 example but there are many others

The last king changed the monarchy by going out into the country and meeting people. I think he was the first king to visit the northeastern provinces. He also said in 2005 that sensible criticism should be allowed, and that he was human so makes mistakes. A far more intelligent conversation about the monarchy than that from many in government or in the country.
I don't know if it's true but I heard the current King asked that prosecutions under the LM laws be reduced. If true that's another thoughtful intervention. Of course it needs the government and Thais in general to listen and take note of these suggestions.
I am sure the current prosecutions of the LM laws are only used by the army government to prevent demonstrations against them. The current King has indeed no problem with section 112 as he told already that it did not need to be enforced. But Mr Prayuth saw the only opportunity to stay in power to use this law. He is one to blame and the Government based army will not allow that this section will be amended as it could work against them.

Sorry but apparently words are not enough.
2007 Thailand Constitution, Chapter III "Rights and Liberties of the Thai People", Part 13 "Right to Protect the Constitution, Section 68:
- "No person shall exercise the rights and liberties prescribed in the Constitution to overthrow the democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State under this Constitution or to acquire the power to rule the country by any means which is not in accordance with the mode provided in this Constitution."
The 2007 Constitution only prescribes elections as the means to changing governments.
When NCPO Gen. Prayut in mid-May 2014 overthrew the elected Yingluck government through military force, he abolished the 2007 Constitution (albeit as an after-thought revived Chapter II "The King"), unilaterally replaced it with NCPO's Interim Charter (including amnesty for the overthrow), followed by a new Constitution authored by NCPO in 2016 - both of which omitted the original Section 68 language. During those years the Constitutional Court continued to exist without any adverse reaction to the coup.
Indeed, so Mr Prayuth and his cronies are far worse than an amendment of section 112

I am wondering in which aiports you have to show the boarding pass when entering the country. It must be done here in Thailand and not many people know that and have to find that thing...question is why because it is another not needed thing. All small handlings , fingerprints, picture, boarding pass, visa checking, stamping etyc make queues longer

Soft power to atrack tourists, another example of the taxi scams, but a failing government policy to solve this problem. Strict rules and enforcement are needed.

I think every coup is a assault to overthrow the democracy and constitution, but there is nobody speaking of. After every coup there need to be a new constitution written by the coup players, but there should be a constitution that forbid these actions. Overthrowing the current government is also a kind of overthrowing the monarchy, as it is in the constitution and the King is the head of state and Government.

In Buddhism it is not allowed to take someones life... In most religions it is the same. However legal abortion in Thailand should be carried out, as the law allows it. If a doctor refuses because of his believe, there should be possibilities in some clinics around the country. The women have the right to end their pregnancy, as for many reasons, as rape, incest, violent husband or even not enough money. Thailand should enter the 21st century and change the thinkings.. Unnecessary suffering should also be permitted. I believe there are no Gods that don't care about the wellbeing of the believers. They all want that everybody can have a happy and healthy life without suffering and pain.

Very easy - every Thai of age has an ID specific number and must be listed on a home register. With home register there would be no need for census (if people really stayed where they are listed) but for number of total people system should work OK - just not specific locations).
With a good registration system instead of the stupid registration in the blue book. People live everywhere but not in the place they are registered, there is no control about anything. Register people where they live, what they do and what they have. Better for the country to tax people, many don't pay taxes although they earn a lot and you get a better idea who is in need and you can help. Now nobody knows anything so indeed numbers in Thailand are unreliable

It was a hidden vote buying thing...They know and knew already it was impossible, for many reasons.. too expensive, too difficult to implement, too sensitive for corruption, and in line with the so called constitution... But they have the votes, they are in power and they have to save their face now

So your saying if expats were not charged double the Thai population would be increasing? Or is the main reason for the decline in population because life is not easy for expats? Perhaps it is because the additional stress expats are under, from immigration policies, is producing lower sperm counts, is causing the decline in the Thai population. I see where Thailand needs to fix the problem.
I think you misunderstand, but alas it are not only the retirees...but keep the old law about forbidden labours, don't educate people in schools and on the road, let all the prIoblems solve by themselves. More single expats who come work in Thailand, get a Thai partner, get a better income, get kids, with better education, and will help the country forward, but as long as the country don't want changes, nothing will work and everything will go back. If you are Thai you know what the people around you complaining, if you are a foreigner open your eyes and see what is going on

If Thailand would be a more modern country with review of many outdated laws, easier for expats, stopped the double pricing, and took care of their own population by decent driverseducation, normal education, good working policeforce, things would be better. But now expats don't come to retire anymore because of all the visa hussle, double pricing, alcohol ban sales, vaping, very dangerous roads, and the Thai people don't see any benefit for having children when the struggle to make ends meet at the end of the month, have also to take care of their parents, as with 3000 THB a month nobody can live, no future for kids and labour, as almost every job is low paid except working in the government or because relations with high ranked friends and so we can continue.. All because the army and his cronies are holding the country back and Move Forward, who wants to solve problems is being blocked with all kind of reasons, only because the current dinosaurs are afraid of losing money....

Typical... first do and than think... water shortages are in sight and drought all over the country because less rainfall, but 3 weeks watersplashing is no problem. and the government has no idea that people outside Thailand don't even know this event and maybe will be amused if they come for a visit

It is normal in Thailand to drive at the wrong side, and after 17.00 there is no police anymore only in the police offices.. so no news in fact and accidents like this will happen more this year

yes I believe that too,, but the truth will be different probably.. fleeing after an accident is normal in Thailand.. probably drugs, alcohol, speeding or whatever, and high ranked persons, because a 5 million Porsche can't buy everyone...

noise pollution is all over the country everyday and for every event. Cars blasting that there are temple activities, or markets, or new cars or motorcycles or just name it.. Music is played by neighbours, bars, in cars at temples or parties outside that you can hear miles further. No wonder people have to play louder and louder as they all have eardrum damages already, but no one cares ....Police doesn't do anything as they say everybody has the right to party...or earn money...But health is not important, no wonder that sometimes people loose it. Noise id even a torture method
