A verdict for something 5 years ago. What did the court do all these years?? Justice in Thailand.. A fugitive comes home after 15 years .. should be in prison, but is so called in a hospital and get probably parole after 3 hours in prison, but using loudspeakers or as they throw everything in section 112 and see how big the punishments are. Seriously that section 112 is outdated and too strict. And of course a reason to blame Pita and Thanathorn, but a convicted from Australia is no problem in the Government. How low can they go........... Justice and democracy in Thailand...

The PM is looking for maximum coverage of his behind on this one.
He needs all these controlling organizations (Council of State, NACC) on board, to avoid prosecution in the future.
An "elected government" is required for appearances.
probably he is afraid that if the 10k scheme is cancelled he will be charged with vote buying, which is in fact true too

another teen involved murder... A shortage of education and too much attention in the news.. Thailand like to copy so stop with broadcasting the clips they have made. Just mention what is goin on once and finish instead of showing the clip 10 times and talking about it for 30 minutes... the attention the more fame for the criminal

According to the current Constitution (2017/official translation):
Section 2. Thailand adopts a democratic regime of government with the King as Head of State.
I know but that is no answer on my question... Normally the government propose and make laws, and the parties ruling and opposite discuss them and vote. But here everything seems to go first to another institution and than back with or without approval of the institution. If the institutions have so much power why need an elected Government?

Compare this case with a section 112 case..... Obvious the latter is far worse. And even the CC doesn't see that the punishment for section 112 are too severe for too little

Before the decision is made it will be probably 2026...Same sex marriage takes 2 decades too

I am wondering who is in charge in THailand.. We have a Government but they have to wait for the EC, CC, Senate and the NACC to make any decision. What is the use of a government than if everybody must have a say

Sounds nice but 40-50% are Thai tourists.....What is a definition of a tourist in Thailand?? Someone living in Thailand and sleep in another place for a few days? Than it is only domestic tourism and is no new money coming in the economy

the court said. “The Thai nation and Thai kings are what unify the people of the nation and maintain the harmony of the people in the country.”
That in my view faded away with the late King Bhumibol Adulyadej
You are so correct...... the invisibility and silence is the cause of the most problems now

THe CC should only check if the laws are properly used an confirm with the other laws. In this case, a law was made centuries ago as in many other countries to protect the monarch from insult and defamation. Other cultures and monarchies have also lese majestic laws, but they are upgraded and changed as times changes too. Everybody will change their phone, color of their house, a new car, without any meaning to destroy. Indeed the CC can rule that the law of 112 is meant to protect the monarch. However the problems about section 112 started when the Government used it to silence protesters, as they called that they felt be abandoned. So a clear update is very needed to prevent abuse of this section started with the Prayuth Government. But now the court has silenced everybody and that is not their job

no need to amend, just write a totally new one..With a military coup they destroy the existing one every time, so now time to write a new good one, that can't be destroyed, as in the US, and many other countries..

Not sure what "it" is referring to. In some of the things, I would agree that they weren't as bad, but others, in my personal experience, things were DEFINITELY worse. Of course, that is only limited to my personal experience and may be very different from others'. There were absolutely worse years in places that I was in for pollution, both smoke and industrial/vehicle. I remember police wearing masks ALL the time because the pollution was so bad and tests revealed that the average street cop in BKK had something like 9 or 10 times the amount of lead or some other crap in their blood than is safe. I remember feeling nauseous because the air was so horrid. Haven't felt that for many years now. Crime was hit and miss although I definitely experienced more problems with break-ins back in the 90s and early 2000s. Seems much safer these days. Double pricing and signs forbidding foreigners from some establishments were also much more common from what I've experienced in the past 10 years. The Chinese boom of tourism is a relatively recent thing, although there are many factors, it seems that since 2012 with the "Lost in Thailand" movie, Chinese started arriving in droves, much like how tourism boomed after the movie "The Beach" in 2000, but the Chinese just keep coming... although perhaps not in as huge numbers, just like how the boom after the popularity of The Beach waned with time. People are fickle and also Thailand has changed, developed a lot since those days and it is nowhere near as cheap as it once was. And I have a feeling that with its development, many people don't feel the cultural "charm" as much as they once did. Of course, it is a very complex thing and there are a massive number of factors that all add up into one big pile of "Thainess" from which the putrid odor emanates strongly enough to make me not as interested as I once was, but I have become attached in different ways that are not detachable now 😅 But don't get me wrong. It's not all bad. There are plenty of things to enjoy and don't need to let the smell get to you, that's what respirators or good masks are for after all!😂
Do you live in Thailand?

On short term yes, but the new petitions filed to the EC it could turn otherwise... and with a possibility with tanks in the streets again, I think the best way to do now is leave MFP untouched and everything would be fine

There is spend to much time already on all kind of non issues.. Enter the 21st century accept that laws can change, accept that there is opposition, Look over the land borders where other monarchies have the same lese majesty laws band how they deal with it and how the deal with opposition parties and election result and become a real democracy, instead of a pretending one

The common people are not allowed in The Government only for the elite and army fans... A good new example again. Move Forward the winner of the most votes was prevented to deliver the PM. Mr Pita was cleared form the mediashares, probably they knew already the verdict of yesterday and are hoping he will be banned for 10 years or longer and the party being dissolved. CC saved face and with new protests coming the army has a reason for a new coup.. Poor Thailand.. being hold back by such a leaders

Air pollution, political unrest, strange selectively enforced laws, double pricing, alcohol limitations, and being targets of opportunity for theft and robbery have all been problems for DECADES in Thailand. No change with any of that at all.
It may or may not have much of an impact on tourism, but not for any of those reasons, at least not any more than in the past. I can imagine that it may have some sort of an impact on lower budget, younger people's extended travels, but I doubt on much more than that.I agree, but it was never so bad as the last years...and the tourism going back already for years and first they had the Chinese coming in, but now they don't come anymore in big numbers, and there is no is/was no investment in the tourism industry Thailand has lost a lot of its charm.

They are not going for " most people " for this plan. The Thai baht is also very weak. Thousands of snow birds and long term tourist travelers would spend huge amounts of baht ( especially by not HAVING to go to another country after 30 or 60 days here) do the math. It's a ton of money lost. Vaping and politics don't discourage " most " tourists either. You've been here too long and tink to mutt wrong! The alcohol hours also don't make people not come. Every single thing you list is something virtually no tourist knows or cares much about.
Compare the number of tourists when the THB was 40/45 for a euro, If a tourist want to have a beer at 15.00 as that is not abnormal, it is not allowed. In other countries they can order a beer whenever they want...Holiday is meant for relaxing, and if I want to vape I should not be fined.. Apparently you never went abroad and saw how relaxed your holiday is.. Go to Spain, France, Greece Turkey Vietnam or Singapore.. They don't have these laws. People look what fits best in what they want in their holiday and being bound several restrictions...And not so many tourists are going on holiday for 60 or 90 days... People have to work too
-
of course the interest rate should be cut. The Government wants a loan and the interest they have to pay will be too high.. so cut the interest rate easy to borrow the 500 billion for the 10k scheme

There is no point in more laws.. Start with serious enforcement of the existing ones.. Never checked if I have a driverslicense Never checked my lights, Never checked if I have been drinking. Only the sticker of the taxpayment and of you go
