no way Singapore will allow it. they will do whatever it takes to keep their monopoly.

They should allow Singapore to build it & run it for 99 years (like the US Panama Canal).

Then it would be done on time and under budget probably/maybe.

    Will never happen I know.

The election clock will start ticking next year and political parties will have five months to organise and campaign before the poll, Prime Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha said on Wednesday.

If gambling were legal in Thailand, I'd bet anybody 20 baht that we'll see this same headline this time next year, and for several years to come.

To all in Thailand, time to get out of Dodge City if you haven't done it already. That or lock yourself up in your house.

I went through it in one of my three years there and never again.

Let's just say there were pics of me soaking wet in a white T-shirt somewhere I never want to see again lol.

"And when the fat lady has sung in Bangkok...."

Are you that fat lady I saw singing on the last day of Songkran a few years back?

    Just joking!

I went thru the Pattaya mayhem ONCE & it was a novelty.

I've despised it every since then.

hmmm.........stay out of Thailand(for Falangs) to avoid the stupidity and carnage of songkran?...... I certainly do

    Yes.

Half the bazillion airport visitors Swampy is expecting for Songkran will be expats trying to escape the idiocy.

  5. I recall when the Bali Hai pier opened. Less than a year later it was falling apart, and a local guy got electrocuted (yes he died).

Baht buses were never intended for it, yet they were tearing it up out there.

Figure at least 40-50% of this 200 million baht will wind up in brown envelopes.

The rest will go to sub-par, subcontractors who will make whatever they do, just good enough to last 2 months, and then it will start to fall apart.

Not Thai-bashing, just saying what will probably happen IMHO.
