  1. The big problem is ungrounded outlets. Even with a surge protector, you need somewhere to dump the surge. A three pin outlet is no guarantee that your protections will work.
  2. They should not let in unvaccinated foreigners at all. It is time to stop pandering to the stupid and the selfish.
  3. Plenty of blame to go around. My personal one is insane auto drivers passing illegally at excessive speeds. The lack of driver courtesy here is frightening.
  4. How many more, that aren't rich and pretty, are left to be persecuted? It is long past time to move past desert mythologies.
  5. I have an MG-6 and like it just fine. It has no trouble going over the mountains. SAIC makes a lot of very nice cars in China. They are very popular.
  6. When did the testing price get so high? I thought it was 8000 for three tests? Are Phuket taxi drivers doing covid tests now? Do you get a jet ski rental with that? Something does not add up here.
  7. It can be replaced. This is why they usually staple them into your passport.
  8. I have tried many times and I cannot get the PIN code to advance to the second step. It is sloppy programming.
  9. The problem is that monopolistic buying has made other products unprofitable but it takes years to grow a producing durian tree. How do the farmers get paid until then?
  10. TAT is dreaming. CCSA is not going to accept this idea yet. They still need to get the vaccination requirements and verifications in place and there are way too many unvaccinated Thais to start reopening nightlife venues.
  11. Sure, we will feel safer at the mall knowing that the Qanuts are not allowed in.
  12. Thank you! One of the reasons I don't spend much time here is the negativity. The vaccines are still not that easy in the country but if people call their local hospital they can find out the schedule. I was at mine for a checkup and they asked me if I wanted it that day.
  13. I did not know government agencies were elligible for participation trophies. Who got the ones for programs that worked?
  14. Mild fever after the sinovac for a day. Sore arm after the Astra Zenica for a day. Happy to be among the few people in the village vaccinated. The virus finally made it to our village last week after a girl returned home from the city with an infection. The family is in quarantine and everyone is scared. There are a lot of old folks here and very limited vaccine supplies.
  15. They are jumping the gun. Just look at Florida if you want to know what happens when you reduce restrictions before vaccinating. The CCSA has set the standard at 70% vaccinations. Stick to the plan and keep the shots coming.
  16. A road death today does not create ten more next week. Covid does. I agree with CCSA, keep things tight for a few more months to bring the vaccination numbers up.
  17. Great idea! We need to vaccinate more people but it is time to start setting up the mandate systems, not only for services but visas as well.
  18. Chiang Rai is just getting started with the over 60s and high risk people. They are steadily working though. The Sinovac then Astra Zenica combination is on offer. Not qualified for international travel but it will keep you put of the hospital. Chiang Mai has some Pfizer for foreigners, not sure about the restrictions. It is not commercially available yet so availability and choices are limited.
  19. I read novels all the time but only have one book, my Kindle. I am on the unlimited program and have not made a dent in the reading list. Only two million books to go.
  20. An isolated but not singular incident. The idiot did not get an APEC card, so she can stand in line. I have little sympathy for the ignorant. On the other hand, there are plenty of ignorant falangs from everywhere. The american tourists are hardly worse than drunken British footballers or arrogant Russian bullies. Best not to throw stones.
  21. That should work. There are rumors that some IOs have asked for bank statements for 90 days but that would be unusual. If you have the money, the best plan is to deposit 800k and forget that it is there. Extending next year could be an issue. Make sure to cancel your visa on the way out. That will allow you to apply for a new visa. Another solution would be to buy an elite. You would not have to leave for that.
  22. You would want to apply for an elite before entering due to the long processing time you might face. An elite could give you permission to stay in Thailand for up to twenty years. Which country would you like a fiance visa for? The US? It is not a Thai visa type. No idea if you can transfer an American application. That is a question for your local US consulate.
  23. The available tech is way better too. Salk would have killed for a DNA sequencer.
