I liked parties in my youth where you could walk around, listen to music, look for girls and muck about. That was replaced a bit by dinner parties which I didn't like much. Unless it was close friends. It was like a grown up thing with supposed clever banter and witty retorts and people would turn to topics like investments in real estate or some such. Could not escape for a few hours. Praise the host. Not my cup of tea. Older still it became dinner and game nights and that was kind of fun I suppose. My thai girlfriend doesn't have the type of friends that have dinner parties which is fine by me. But going out and doing stuff is ok in a group - thai girls will tend to compete in conversation as to who is best off if they have an expat partner but it's pretty harmless and they tend to be otherwise nice.

It's nice to be important but it's important to be nice. Canadians from the cold are gonna wanna talk about the heat and will feel they have some expertise about what to wear in the cold. Sure you could have found some common ground on something and they may then drop their guard and not be as boring - probably due to shyness and unfamiliar surroundings.

I liked Hillary. Could not see a reason for the hate except her being pretty mainstream. The deplorables comment didn't help but it was not targeted at the average Trump lover but a subset that one could objectively argue are a bit deplorable.

I could go point by point and attempt to apportion blame here and there to circumstance, or outside forces, or Trump and sometimes Biden, or admit on some topics I am not sure who is to blame which is the case for us all, but if you can't listen and see, really see, that Trump should be out of the question due to his shallowness, clear lack of intellectual intelligence or moral compass that is required of a president, then there's no point discussing more complex issues. On media, each media has some bias and something to sell but in my opinion some media treats you with a bit of intelligence and others clearly don't. There is a good deal of fact checking that goes with the somewhat one sided tone at an MSNBC or a CNN as compared to commentators on Fox or .. ahem .. Newsmax. Consider that many of the criticisms of Trump are simply reporting what happened.

Maybe this whole thing of external or internal happiness is based on the physical body i.e. the relaxedness or clearness or happiness of our mind is 100 per cent linked to our physical state e.g. how tight is your neck, how relaxed are your hips, how healthy your insides. The state of your physicality will be affected by 1 perceptions of external events e.g. good news, fun times, by 2 actual physical events e.g. massage, sex, and by 3 personal ways of doing things and how you live that affect you physically e.g. quiet times, solitude, exercise and good food. Point being it all comes down to physicality and doesn't require a god, or a spirituality, or even really a separate mind.

It might come down to how keen your son is - is he not into it and is happy to find a way out or is he super keen. Could be good for confidence. Could be bad if he gets beat up badly but he'll feel he had a go. Could be bad physically as you say. Tough one.

Not sure what makes you dislike Biden so much. Pretty normal traditional president. My 2 cents on MSNBC that was recently added to my pay tv. TONE: Clearly biased to a certain narrative. Kind of corny in the righteous approach. CONTENT: Often pretty good. Often a more substantial deeper analysis than other competition. Fact checked.

Awful lot spent at Mara Lago and his golf clubs in his presidency - not huge in the scheme of things but puts him in a poor light. He stuffed up dealing with Covid which of course had a bad effect on the economy. Payments a huge cause of inflation. Not blaming him for covid or saying payments were wrong but he was no economic whizz kid. Don't get this notion of Biden as a war monger. Stopped Afghanistan - botched but stopped none the less. Not responsible surely for Putin's actions and Hamas. Can question long term influence and effects but that's not particular to Biden.

I don't disagree but, it's all been said before, but it's that equal justice and protections under the law principle. As an outsider I see a stirring need for Trump to be taken to account on things he has done. There's many reasons I don't like Trump - over valuing properties to get bigger loans where they were all paid back is at the lower end. I am playing devil's advocate to ask something - would have this and some other charges been pursued if it wasn't Trump. Not sure. I would personally focus criticism of Trump supporters on things like their acceptance of his support of dictators, trashing of democratic principles e.g. accepting outcome of elections etc etc. Though they should accept he did the wrong thing in this case I wouldn't consider it unreasonable for them to raise the issue of possible bias in the steps leading to todays findings.

Yeah ... but .. I would put the cases against him in 2 categories as many do. January 6, Georgia election stuff, I would include the Mar a Lago documents too because of the way he went about it. Serious. No doubt appears a strong case that had to be a thing based on objective law. This one, the upcoming one on hush payments, I would put as a real thing, consistent with law, but definitely an issue if the same charges - and the penalties for today's one - would have been pursued on the average joe. I like it but there is an argument....

In the bigger picture I wonder if this begins to eat away at Trump's reputation even amongst his fans - he always seemed to have an allure amongst his base of somehow playing 3 dimensional chess and never having consequences until recently. Second is the moral argument. Is the the fact that charges had been laid on a fairly common occurrence, without actual victims, and the huge size of the penalty an indication of unreasonable bias. Could it tar all cases against him to the public as being motivated by bias. If it is based on some bias, is it bad to fight fire with fire, if your opponent uses every dirty trick of legal and other manipulation, to avoid consequences. Or are the charges and penalty fair and it is more his high profile that makes it noteworthy.
