  1. The medical cannabis "industry" has more than enough controlled, quality biomass to generate the THC, CBD and 1:1 GPO oils. There are very few diagnoses which call for cannabis therapies. Most are palliative, for EoL situations. If you're saying that this small-farmer Cannabis activity will be as tightly controlled as the Sericulture industry, and that there is equivalent demand for Cannabis, as there is for high-quality silk, then fine. The Sericulture initiative operates under the auspices of the Queen mother Sirikit. I'm not seeing a similar royal backing for the cannabis "initiative", EVER. Circling back We don't really know what will happen 9 June 2022 and beyond. The required legislation has not been read yet. Yes there are drafts. No one knows what these 1 million plants are, where they are, who gets them, what varieties they are. Psychoactive cannabinoids derived from plants remain illegal. The Narcotics Act remains unchanged.
  2. This is the issue that needs to be addressed. How many folks said, "$100,000 is too much, but $50,000 is acceptable"? Answer: (probably) None. And it, a 50% "discount", makes the original scheme look foolish, over-priced and under thought-out. These schemes seem to jump from a senior government official ordering their minions to get more foreigners with cash, and the minions fashion strange and odd schemes, usually based on the previous strange and odd schemes, without consulting with the target audience. That's why I ask which schemes worked, if any? And if they did, why did they work? And obviously, try to understand why other (most/all) schemes failed.
  3. Been here, done that.... Partway between conflict and crisis, AKA ~ 21:00.
  4. Take Friday, and Monday off (holidays), so that should help with the transition?
  5. Really? You discuss women's fashion choices, and their "reasoning", with a lot of government employees? That seems skeevy to me, unless you looking for advice. Does this topic just pop up? Do you broach this subject? Or are you talking about CosPlay? Judging solely on recent observations at Immigration/Chaeng Watthana, nearly of the females would disagree with you. (Maybe it was casual Tuesday, and Thursday when I recently visited?)
  6. That (Non-O Imm/Ret + Ext stay) was introduced in the last twenty years?
  7. Yes, thais are quick to point out that the DPRK and thai educations systems have much in common. https://prachatai.com/english/node/4495 Thank goodness thai school administrators don't load the toddlers up with medals. I think civil service uniforms are fine for adults. Maybe needed to convey the hierarchy/rank?
  8. Has any visa scheme they've concocted in the last twenty years been judged to have been successful? I see articles frequently that the Elite program is running hopelessly in the red, and the digital nomad program take-up garnered very few candidates.
  9. I'm sure it's been recommended here but I blazed through two seasons/5 eps of McDonald & Dodds https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ibm8PdyqNes Bath looks like an amazing city; still kicking myself for not visiting. Normally I don't like the Clue-like mystery style, but that is more than off-set by the odd-couple vibe of the main protagonists. Tala Gouveia and Jason Watkins absolutely kill it.
  10. None I know. Calling BS on this claim. Yeah, I know this is a thing in Amsterdam coffee shops, where locals put everything in, incl, hash, oil, crumble.
  11. Inflation strategy as a whack-a-mole game. May not end well. Rubber farmers can't be far behind?
  12. Not that they need it, but the COVID Emergency Decree gives the regime an extra layer of legal protection, allowing them to issue orders, declarations, proclamations and rules, without fear of future consequences (think future health issues from hastily approved vaccines or treatments, for one example). And it prevents any criticism, scrutiny by the press or public. Sure a few pesky opposition MPs speak up now and then. Preventing public gatherings is a side-benefit; but those can be controlled without an emergency decree.
  13. Folks in the restive south will see your seventeen times (at 60 days per) with 65+ extensions (a 3 months per), bringing you an Emergency Decree since July, 2005. I assume they'll decide on this at this week's CCSA meeting? They've been announcing COVOD decree extensions ~ two weeks before the current one expires. And I think they'll extend again.
  14. You do realize that there is a MASSIVE meth (pills and crystal) problem in thailand already. And that there is massive prison overcrowding, with 60+% low level drug users. The kingdom is awash in hard drugs. Every few days there are multi-million pill busts. Three days ago, Petchabun... Two men have been arrested with more than 1.6 million speed pills and 30 Kg of crystal methamphetamine and weapons seized in Lom Sak district of this lower northern province. I guess your point is that legal cannabis will slow any transition to "hard drugs" because, well folks need to get hooked on cannabis first.
  15. Too bad the local Joe Ferrari dealership will miss out on these gems. 30% (of the auction proceeds) go directly to the police, and another 25% goes to other official, including the police. Let's hope the BMW bike isn't used by a policeman to kill a citizen.
  16. Yeah. I'm sure this "entitlement" is detailed in the legislation. /facepalm. Yes, I'll stipulate that your thai relations can queue up for their free seedlings.
  17. This appears to be one of those strange urban legends that, believers believe, if repeated often enough becomes real. This is up there with the oil companies killing the scientist who developed ---fill in the blank ---. And they say you can't teach stoopid.
  18. Odd analogy. Who or what are the Greeks? Who or what is the city of Troy. Based on the outcome of that incident it would be helpful to understand your "thinking" here. So we've got forty-two years to look forward to? Ys, yes, I know, thais will do things more quickly. Because there so well organized, and excellent at planning and executing those plans. This is the first I've seen on the million plant march. I'm not sure I believe this "news". Sounds like something Austin Power's character Dr. Evil might utter? One million seedlings would require a staggering nursery effort. And then distributing them, sure. Are you thai? If not I don't think you'll be able to get free seedlings, or be allowed to grow them. If you're thai then check with the local government office.
  19. I think the plan was to raise it 2 baht per month, from 30 baht, with a 35 baht cap. So 32-34-35. Boiling frog experiment - let's see when the truckers realize they're being cooked?
  20. Yeah, but...this vaccine will likely not be available until 2023, best case. Unless they're working on a time-machine (Chula TimeTraveler 3000?) too, it seems like more of a learning experience, in preparation for future viruses/diseases which can be treated with mRNA technology.
  21. And Singapore puts on an amazing show. A full week of racing and entertainment. Anything thailand could cobble together would pale in comparison. OK, to be honest, it would be a dumpster fire. Yes. I know hiso thais have Singapore-envy.
