  1. Sepang on line 1 for you. Along with a gazilion other venues, which hosted F1 races and have been relegated to the bin. Based on the Miami and Las Vegas deals, it's a ten (10) year commitment. Miami took five years to negotiate. The LV promoters dropped $240 million just for land for the paddock.
  2. I'd bring the previous Receipt of Notification. Yes, we all know it should be stapled in your passport. Personally I'd bring along a copy of proof of TM.30, just in case. And make sure you are aware of the holidays, I'm sure UbonJoe can elaborate. I think 13 and 16 May are holidays but unsure if those are both observed by Immigration?
  3. Today's post award winner for the densest packaging of unfounded conspiracy theories. Kudos sir. Now if thailand is "right" why isn't prayut spouting similar nonsense?
  4. That's why I said I'd leave it to you. But certainly we're allowed to have an opinion, right? I simply shared mine.
  5. "Soft Power"? Replaced by Kubota walking tractor. Bring on the races, by far the best part. Tractors (mud drag-racing) or four-legged variety.
  6. Meh. They already have a home race. It's held at the Red Bull Ring. https://www.formula1.com/en/racing/2022/Austria.html
  7. I'll leave that to you. The term simply means eight years over one or more terms, so he's PM for 5 years, then as a result of an election, is no longer PM. He could serve second term for up to three years. Just to be clear, one person was allowed to change the constitution AFTER it was said to have been publicly ratified. I think the Constitutional Court would support this interpretation. I would too, not that it matters, as that was the intent as I understand it. Until that point he was the head of the NCPO and quasi-self-appointed pm, which illegally (until they granted themselves amnesty) gained power by means of a military coup.
  8. Shades of 1941 when they lasted a mere 5 hours before giving up to the Empire of Japan, and then went on to play both sides. Bad look, no principals, but part of the thai DNA I fear. I doubt any of us expected anything other than appeasement. This won't be easy to erase. But they'll try. Interesting that there is no discussion, no debate in Parliament, no public discussions, just one leader making a declaration.
  9. They made a run at this back in 2013 for the 2015 season. Shelved for various reasons. Until Liberty Media sell to the Saudis, this won't happen. Too many street courses anyway.
  10. I think there are technologies required to manufacture mRNA vaccines, and thailand only last year obtained some/all of those licenses. TriLink BioTechnologies mRNA Capping for mRNA synthesis is one example. I guess they want to be prepared to both create, then produce an mRNA vaccine for whatever might come next. Given how they failed epically, both producing AZ locally, and procuring vaccines, it seems wise to grow your own. And mRNA technology is often mentioned as potential for other afflictions. So beefing up local expertise is again wise. Not sure how much time I'd spend on a COVID vaccine at this point though? Other than maybe proof of concept.
  11. So you're "curious". Good for you. Was this a passing wonderment? Or something that you spend a lot of time thinking about? It seems like this documentary piqued your interest. Honestly these threads come up frequently, maybe search a bit to get a feel for the responses. IMO, if you really want answers then you should ask thai men, and thai women (Toms/Dees included) why they like ladyboys. Most thai ladyboys hang out with other thais. Or are you asking a different question? Why are people attracted to each other? Plenty of studies out there, with results which are applicable to your conundrum.
  12. Added to the list... Bangkok traffic Annual burning Police corruption Human trafficking Step 1 for the Sangha? Accounting 101.
  13. Nine years? Section 158. The King appoints the Prime Minister and not more than thirty-five other Ministers to constitute the Council of Ministers having the duties to carry out the administration of the State affairs in accordance with the principle of collective responsibility. The Prime Minister must be appointed from a person who is approved by the House of Representatives under section 159. The President of the House of Representatives shall countersign the Royal Command appointing the Prime Minister. The Prime Minister shall not hold office for more than eight years in total, whether or not holding consecutive term. However, it shall not include the period during which the Prime Minister carries out duties after vacating office. Surely they know which comes first? Thai law is flexible, for some. Less so for others.
  14. I saw my first Tesla in the wild here, yesterday model 3, white in Phra Khanong. https://www.plugshare.com/
  15. Not sure the source of the medal award, maybe this... https://cdn.who.int/media/docs/default-source/searo/thailand/2022_05_04_tha-sitrep-234-covid-19_th.pdf?sfvrsn=865f92a7_1 Seems like it was generated by the WHO Rep. here in thailand.
  16. https://covid19.trackvaccines.org/vaccines/65/ NCT05231369 Phase 1/2 Thailand Total Enrollment: 60 NCT04566276 Phase 1/2 Thailand Total Enrollment: 96 I'll take mine AFTER prayut, prawit and anutin take theirs.
  17. Are you though? His final message in your clip evidently doesn't apply to you, or it went way over your head, or you chose to ignore it? I love it when folks quote a "comedian", and DChap is a brilliant one, who always claim to be "just a comedian" who they tell us we should not take them seriously, as if we should take them seriously. Go figure. I don't follow this specific topic too closely. And I am rarely without an opinion, but I've chosen to, on this one, defer to the women and trans athletes to sort this out, and come up with solutions they find acceptable. Amend Title IX as necessary, without a lot of input from older, non-trans white males. Caitlyn can feel free to step off too. By the way, Caitlyn Jenner was supportive of trans World Cup footballer Jaiyah Saelua back in 2017. Her pre-Kool-Aid days I guess. My vaguest perception is that High-Scholl and College sports which feature individuals competing (yes, individual events, even relays can be part of a larger team event) are more subject to controversy. Here individual females have expressed concern with fairness, perhaps rightly so - I don't follow these events - results and testosterone level mandates - closely While team events, like soccer, volleyball seem to be more accepting. Title IX is settled law and legislated, but I'm sure Justice Alito will be along shortly to tell us otherwise. And that the Fourteenth Amendment does not apply. Still amazing that we've yet to ratify the Equal Rights Amendment.
  18. I'm in a slightly similar boat...although my lag time is a mere 5 days. I would try online in the period leading up to 24 May, and depending on what happens, and if rejected I'd try in the period leading up to 26 Jul. And if rejected, go in person end of July and try to get back to online end October.
  19. Had not to chuckle at the right-wing neo-fascists' whining about "censorship" on a private platform, while banning books at a record clip. Rep. Elise Stefanik @RepStefanik In the face of the Far-Left’s censorship of conservative ideas, I will stand for FREE SPEECH. 6:00 AM · May 7, 2022 Posted on Twitter no less. For a Harvard grad, were she not playing a role, this would be shocking. “I had thought America was against totalitarianisms. If so, surely it is important for young people to be able to recognize the signs of them. One of those signs is book-banning. Need I say more?” – Margaret Atwood, responding to news of her book, "The Handmaid's Tale", being banned in Leander, Texas.
  20. Thanks. So, assuming the COVID extension policy is further extended - I assume it will - then this gentleman could get a COVID extension, after his first 30 day 'normal' extension in 60 days, right?
  21. Which floor. Mobile signals (both voice and data) can have issues on higher floors. This is the primary reason local providers offer WiFi calling. Maybe check with the landlord to see what works in your intended unit. Some buildings do have fiber to the building then VDSL up to the units. And these plans offer month-month service, although probably only for thais. Your phone will be able to work as a hotspot, and share your mobile data plan to other devices locally over WiFi. This will get you through the the first week or so. Obviously you'll need to get a local SIM. If you do end up requiring a more robust solution, maybe separate the 4G Router and any SIM/Plan. That is, but the best router for your budget/requirements, then consider a separate SIM. The 1 Year SIMs offer the most bang for the buck. And go for a free-standing 4G router, rather than a USB unit.
  22. Was this gentleman, the "he" then "they" is confusing, unable to get a second COVID extension? If so, why?
  23. His "The Lincoln Lawyer" comes to Netflix this week as a 10-ep series. He's an Exec. Producer. I liked the 2011 movie, hopefully this one is good.
