Presumably the rationale of the +/-7 day change is to deal with the issue of cancelled flights since I can think of no other reason for it? But if your flight to Thailand were cancelled for whatever reason at the last minute it might prove difficult - if not impossible - in practice, would it not, to get suitably-revised hotel accommodation and insurance arrangements sorted in time in time for a rescheduled flight within the following 7 days - particularly if your flight was rescheduled by the airline sooner rather than later within this timeframe!

They should have updated this rule when Test & Go came back.

The whole reason why they stopped allowing travelers to come 72 hours before the original flight date was to prevent people from changing their arrival dates to avoid the removal of Test & Go in January ( https://thethaiger.com/news/national/test-go-registration-closed-indefinitely-last-group-to-enter-on-january-15 ). This started to be enforced Jan 1st 2022.

Many of our clients had issues where the airline actually moved flights up, and because of this we would need to re-rush the approval with a fresh Thailand Pass submission.

  2. This was rushed through yesterday, and all the airlines have already been informed of these changes.

It further supports my suspicions of the Thailand Pass not being removed on May 1st.

Additional Information about the 7 day +/- change:

Applicants can use their approved Thailand Pass QR Code to enter Thailand on different date of arrival if the new date of arrival is within 7 days before or after the original date of arrival as indicated on the QR Code. Please note that applicants are required to show proof of revised hotel accommodation that corresponds to the new travel dates, and non-Thais are also required to show proof of insurance with at least 20,000 USD coverage for medical treatments in Thailand for the entire duration of their revised travel itinerary. Failure to produce these documents may result in denied boarding. Further note that each Thailand Pass QR Code can be used only once.

    Is this just an opinion?

Or do you know what you state for sure?

I tried to make my original post pretty clear that it was based on all the available information we have access to.

No one knows anything for sure (as always), but we can look at what has happened in the past 2 years to get a good idea of what will happen.

The TAT has always been aggressive with reopening the country, and we can only hope that the meeting on the 22nd goes well. But it does take time to actually implement things, and shooting for a 5 business day window to change everything would be quite hard.

They would need to remove all restrictions in order for that to actually work, unless the DGA is already working on a version of Thailand Pass which does not require hotel stay (they did just add Agoda about 8 days ago). Also removing the hotels for Test & Go would also require them to actually update the approval pipe-line as well so it is not a trivial change.

If your arrival date is before May 15th, it would be smart to just book a Test & Go hotel which will refund the RT-PCR, and get a Thailand Pass to avoid the stress.

  4. From what we have heard there is a high possibility of the removal of the RT-PCR test.

There are still some big questions

    • Where does testing happen in Bangkok?
    • What happens when you test positive in the Airport? Can you choose hotel isolation, or are you now forced to stay in a hospital.

As for the removal of Thailand Pass (this seems highly unlikely), they did also mention removing the arrival date requirement, and making it valid for 3 months if the RT-PCR / hotel is removed.

We think that the May 1st target is too soon for things to be officially implemented, and started due to many moving parts.

    1. Need to review the fallout after Songkran (takes at least a week).
    2. Thailand Pass would may need to be updated depending on what they decide to do.
    3. Need to get everything published in the Royal Thai Government Gazette.

A more realistic earliest date would be May 15th based on the past.

Your staffer on line said this would take 7-10 days to process, though. Hardly a solution for my situation. And they specifically mentioned it was working with immigration offices outside of Bangkok.

The easiest, and most cost effective solution would be for you to simply pay the 500 THB per day overstay fine when you exit the country.

If you anticipate going over a week then we could extend for you, the processing time is of course not counted as overstay, and the start date is based on when we actually receive your passport. That is maximum processing time, most of our extensions are done within 3-4 days.

  6. If you are in the Bangkok area we do currently offer 60 day extension courier service for 6,300 THB (includes immigration fees). Our team will stop by, and pickup your documents, and then return your documents with a completed extension.

We have serviced quite a few travelers while they were doing home isolation, and even during their AQ stay through our many hotel partnerships.

Of course, you’d have to respond in this manner.

But really, how many people do you employ and are they employed in Thailand ?

You are not in control of the weakest link (humans) - we see this with banking in Thailand with the 6 or so reports we read each year where a ‘teller goes rogue’... (how many unreported ?).

Then the is the simple measure of employee’s selling on information.

Do you stop your staff from bringing and leaving all electronic devices, thumb drives into work etc or can they access the servers remotely ???  Do they have to use an authenticator to access their e-mail and secure information etc ?

The weakest point is humans and this is enabled by a general lack of care for information security, the penalties for infractions are minimal - thus, while operating in Thailand you (as a company) are going to be less secure though a simple facet of the social environment you operate in.

Nice try but it does not work like that. For the ThaiPass you need an official hotel confirmation on 1 page for each person in the booking by name (4 person family means 4 confirmation letters), confirmed airport pickup, one night stay with date, pcr test, and atk test kit. Agoda and Co. does not let you do this, so you need to communicate with the hotel directly anyway before you can apply for ThaiPass.

This is not true for our partners.

We instantly issue a single page confirmation letter which clearly mentions everything, for example:

    image.thumb.png.83c280058f078f2b6e26a34a86f1d984.png

The money goes directly to the hotel instantly, and can be paid by Credit Card, or Prompt Pay. The above letter is issued immediately, and can be used for the Thailand Pass submission right after without hotel involvement.

The actual hotel has secure access to a backoffice system which already has all of your travel documents like:

    • passport
    • vaccination
    • insurance
    • flight info

    * All documents are destroyed 1-2 weeks after checkout.

This means there is no need to ever contact the hotel when using our booking platform with the instant confirmation hotels on https://AQ.in.th . The hotels are well aware of how to do the Thailand Pass review / approvals for its AQ.in.th sourced guests.

It has taken us a lot of work to get here, but we are here ????

    yes, you can.

you have sinsiri resort for 3500b (at renovation now, opening shortly), royal suite 3800b (if you lucky to get the cheapest room, which is not easy, probably just marketing trick), the green view 3850b.

All those hotels are booked directly, after an initial contact through your site.

The earlier mentioned seasons hotel is still listed on your website, but not possible to book there. They were pretty much unresponsive at the beginning of T&G, but now are gaining momentum and reply within 1h. Tomorrow after CCSA meeting I am planning to book them

Reasons why we kicked hotels off

    • Unresponsiveness
    • Many complaints to our abuse emails due to multiple reasons
    • Hotel switched to hospitel
    • Hotel was hacked

The only way we would bring some back is as a Direct Payment Partner, which will resolve most of these issues. We also do an additional audit of their process to ensure they are taking secure precautions when handling external communication.

Thank you for reporting sinsiri resort (we do not allow this).

  10. Theres a couple big reasons why you may wish to avoid booking directly with a hotel (especially if smaller).

    - Security (are they handling the sensitive documents securely?)
    - Payment (are they accepting secure payment?)
    - Speed (are they issuing your booking confirmation instantly?)

All of our instant confirmation hotels do this.

While we do not have any packages listed at 3,600 THB at the moment there are multiple great hotels which can do the instant confirmations for 3,900 THB.

  11. Here is a late update.

We have processed more than 3,000 Instant Confirmation bookings since we first launched this new type of booking option.

The hotels, and guests have been extremely happy with this method of booking as it has saved everyone time.

We now have 18 hotels live which are offering this method, and 130+ hotels in queue for this new option.

If you wish to obtain your approval in the fastest possible way please select one of our INSTANT CONFIRMATION hotels listed here:

    https://AQ.in.th

    (currently only Bangkok, and Pattaya)

So the ‘intermediary’  has your data and then provides the same data to the Thailand Pass.

Double the risk of getting your data hacked......    I very much doubt the ‘agents’ have strong data security either.

Data privacy in Thailand is not valued by any entity, be it government, banks, private businesses.

We have strong security, and it is a core value in how we develop our platforms.

So I do disagree with your statement, as we are a private business.

This is one of the core issues we are trying to solve for hotels.

We provide a secure way of document transfer for guests to provide the documents to the hotels, and after checkout the documents are destroyed.

All hotels on our system are required to do OTP logins, and the sessions only last a few hours.

The current way many hotels handle personal document collection is usually done via email which is highly dangerous, as we personally have seen 15+ hotels get compromised in the past 16 months.

  13. Our INSTANT CONFIRMATION partners have done well in the last 5 days.

We processed more than 400 confirmed bookings for them, and saved travelers a ton of time.

We have also enabled 2 more hotels in Pattaya to support this as well:

We have another 42 partners in queue for this to be enabled after they pass their KYC, and we look forward to becoming the best platform to obtain your Test & Go packages from.

Our team has also streamlined the Thailand Pass VIP service so that you can include it inside of your actual booking, and we don't need to do any additional document collection.

instant confirmation hotels listed in the post are still starting from 3000 and going up. Also their website is still including 5th day. so i wonder do they know about the only 1 day news or not (which is almost confirmed so everyone agree on it). If so... so whats the point if they will still charge like the old rules. So another thing is wouldnt it be better to post the hotels after when the only 1 day thing comes out?

I think the prices should fall at least half and maybe more. If any hotel charges more than 2000 its not ok at all. Also prime minister announced that he really wants PR tests get cheaper.

The https://AQ.in.th root page lists all the Bangkok 1 DAY / 1ST DAY packages (they do not change in price).

We will be dropping support for

    • 2 DAY
    • 4 DAY
    • 5 DAY
    • 5TH DAY

As they are no long applicable.

The 1 Day Test & Go packages must include the following

    • 1 Day of stay
    • 1x RT-PCR on arrival
    • Airport Transfer
    • 1x ATK self test

Most hospital partners charge 2,000 to 2,500 THB for the RT-PCR testing to the hotels, and the airport pickup can range 500 THB to 1,000 THB (please remember this is not standard airport pickup). Then finally theres the actual 1 Day of Stay, and the ATK test.
