  1. Really? There were widespread reports of election fraud. That votes had been deliberately miscounted via rigged voting machines? That a nationwide conspiracy had handed the election to the actual loser? Making things up much?
  2. Well, the Ferguson effect is a thesis. Not proven. And of course Trump claims that such high crime rates wouldn't occur with him in office and that he can reverse them. Still, in a way, you make an excellent point. There are lots of things that happen that are outside Presidents' control and/or have nothing to do with them. Yet, while the negative things are explained away by their supporters, they give them credit for the positive things. So, according to Trump supporters, the sharp rise in crime that occurred during his tenure was not his responsibility. But the good performance of the economy was down to him even though trendlines show no significant alteration. Another claim is that various violent conflicts wouldn't have arisen if Trump were in office even though his policy of America First is based on strong opposition to intervention in such conflicts. And so on. There's a kind of doublethink at work.
  3. Over the past two weeks, the chances of a Trump victory in the November election have surged on Polymarket, a crypto-based prediction market... But the surge might be a mirage manufactured by a group of four Polymarket accounts that have collectively pumped about $30 million of crypto into bets that Trump will win. “There’s strong reason to believe they are the same entity,” said Miguel Morel, chief executive of Arkham Intelligence, a blockchain analysis firm that examined the accounts. https://archive.ph/1UnKO#selection-5913.0-5913.174
  4. I think you need to brush up on your understanding of what it is to gerrymander: ger·ry·man·der /ˈjerēˌmandər/ verb gerund or present participle: gerrymandering manipulate the boundaries of (an electoral constituency) so as to favor one party or class. achieve (a result) by manipulating the boundaries of an electoral constituency. "a total freedom to gerrymander the results they want" https://www.google.com/search?q=gerrymandering&oq=gerrymandering&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOdIBCDMwODVqMGo5qAIAsAIB&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8 Murdering your opponents and journalists is not actually entailed under the definition of gerrymandering.
  5. No, the biggest increase occurred during the Trump administration: "The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020 – the largest single-year increase in more than a century, according to data published this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC)." That's quite a spike.
  6. Maybe you should have read this a little more closely before you posted it. Did you notice that the rise in crime began in 2020? In fact, violent crime rose far more sharply in 2020 than it did in 2021 or 2022. In fact, it rose by an unprecedented 30% What we know about the increase in U.S. murders in 2020 The U.S. murder rate rose 30% between 2019 and 2020 – the largest single-year increase in more than a century, according to data published this month by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). The findings align with a separate tabulation of the nation’s murder rate published in September by the FBI. https://www.pewresearch.org/short-reads/2021/10/27/what-we-know-about-the-increase-in-u-s-murders-in-2020/ Now, who was President during all of 2020?
  7. Has it occurred to anyone getting all worked up here that this "news" might not actually be factual? That it might be a hoax It all seems based on this LinkedIn post: "A LinkedIn post by a senior member of the British Labour Party invited staff members to join in Harris' campaign efforts in battleground states, crucial to both the vice president and her opponent, former President Donald Trump, as the extremely tight presidential race approaches its end. "I have nearly 100 Labour Party staff (current and former) going to the US in the next few weeks heading to Carolina, Nevada, Pennsylvania and Virginia," the post said. "I have 10 spots available for anyone available to head to the battleground state of North Carolina - we will sort your housing." https://www.newsweek.com/are-uk-politicians-coming-us-support-kamala-what-we-know-1971371 The post has since been deleted.
  8. One thing that has been noted is that Senators and member of Congress who oppose Trump's stance on Russia and the Ukraine, don't seem to have paid a political price for it.
  9. What makes your comment particularly nuts is that William Barr and John Durham did their best to go after the alleged perpetrators. This was after the Inspector General of the Justice Dept found no evidence of any plotting to go after Trump. Barr and Durham publicly disagreed with that finding. Barr even traveled with Durham to Italy to try and gather evidence. Ultimately they came up empty-handed everywhere. The only conviction Durham got was for a minor crime by a low-level lawyer and in that instance the case was based on evidence was provided by the Inspector General.
  10. In other words, he will trample on the Constitution and create a police state.
  11. Bill Maher Slams Bret Baier Over Kamala Harris Interview "They kept saying he was the most legitimate journalist on Fox News. He added, "No, actually, he was a huge a******." ..."So, you know, being the most legitimate journalist on Fox is a little like being the hottest person in the dollar store," Maher said. https://www.newsweek.com/bill-maher-slams-bret-baier-over-kamala-harris-interview-1971595
  12. The foolishness of that order was reinforced by the arrival of Hurricane Harvey which brought record flooding to Texas 2 weeks later. Here is the official link to that order and the text that rescinded Obama's executive order. Executive Order 13807—Establishing Discipline and Accountability in the Environmental Review and Permitting Process for Infrastructure Projects "Sec. 6. Executive Order 13690 of January 30, 2015 (Establishing a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard and a Process for Further Soliciting and Considering Stakeholder Input), is revoked." https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/DCPD-201700574/pdf/DCPD-201700574.pdf Here's the official national archives link to Obama's Executive Order 13690 DCPD-201500068 - Executive Order 13690-Establishing a Federal Flood Risk Management Standard and a Process for Further Soliciting and Considering Stakeholder Input https://www.govinfo.gov/content/pkg/DCPD-201500068/pdf/DCPD-201500068.pdf

  13. Poor Bret Baier. He's trying to pass off his defense of Donald Trump as a mistake. "Baier said on “Special Report” on Thursday that he “did make a mistake” when it came to clips shown in the interview. “I want to say that I did make a mistake,” Baier said, with Harris Faulkner also on his show, in a clip highlighted by Mediaite. “When I called for a sound bite, I was expecting a piece of ‘the enemy from within,’ from Maria Bartiromo’s interview, to be tied to the piece from your town hall, Harris, where you asked the former president about ‘the enemy from within.’” https://thehill.com/homenews/media/4940441-baier-made-mistake-trump-clip-harris-interview/ This makes no sense. If Baier was expecting another clip to be shown, why didn't he say so when the wrong clip was shown? Thanks for the viral moment Brett. And for drawing attention to Trump's nasty piece of lunacy.
  14. How could it be otherwise? He's so well qualified. After all, he's a politician.
  15. Prime Minister Robert Fico backed plans to investigate Slovakia’s pandemic management. A prominent anti-vaxxer was given the key role. Slovakia's Health Minister Zuzana Dolinková announced Friday she is stepping down over government backing for a prominent anti-vaxxer and insufficient prioritization of health care. "I am sorry that at the level of the government coalition there is support for the ideas of the government proxy, which, in my opinion, find no scientific support," Dolinková said at a press conference, adding she will officially submit her resignation in the coming days. Peter Kotlár, the government envoy tasked with investigating Slovakia's pandemic management and one of the country's most prominent anti-vaxxers, presented his report — which is largely based on fringe theories — on Thursday. https://www.politico.eu/article/slovakia-health-minister-zuzana-dolinkova-quits-government-support-anti-vaccine-covid/ It's utterly shocking that an anti-vaxxer put in charge of such an investigation would come up with such results. What are the odds?
  16. Large scale double blind studies show no therapeutic effect of ivermectin. https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jama/fullarticle/2801827 https://www.nejm.org/doi/full/10.1056/NEJMoa2115869
  17. Actually, eating your som tam with raw pla ra can give you liver flukes which are a leading cause of liver cancer in Isaan.
  18. Next time my petri dish comes down with covid, I'm definitely going to give ivermectin a try.
  19. If you have evidence that the sources I cited have given false information, please share some proof of that. Otherwise, put up or...
  20. You don't understand how by revoking higher standards for public infrastructure citizens were hurt? Do I really have to spell that out for you?
  21. Share with me which causes of the Constitution got suspended in order to pursue Trump?
  22. So, whose fault was it that Trump revoked these higher standards to protect against flooding?
  23. Well, thanks again for demonstrating your ahem special understanding of the American political scene. Most of us had thought that Mike Johnson, the Speaker of the House, was a Republican. Fascinating to learn otherwise. Mike Johnson won't commit to bringing House back before the election for more hurricane relief In a letter to congressional leaders, Biden urged Congress to restore funding to the Small Business Administration’s disaster loan program as it faces potential funding shortfalls. https://www.nbcnews.com/politics/congress/mike-johnson-wont-commit-bringing-house-back-election-hurricane-relief-rcna174174
  24. You're correct. He didn't back out of the interview. But he was too chicken to agree to another one. Given his insane rants during the first debate, it was a wise choice. The thing is his 60 minute interviews was scheduled to be held before Harris's. So he mistrusted the editing before the interview occurred?
  25. Probably a wise move for him. Just as backing out of a second debate with Harris was. Not helpfu to his cause to display his lunacy again.
