  1. A good example to support your argument is the referendu victory of Brexiters in 2016.
  2. Here's some cheery news from the Dept. of Making Things Worse: Brexit red tape to send UK food prices soaring even higher. A new system of border checks on goods arriving from Europe is expected to force rocketing U.K. food prices even higher as businesses grapple with hundreds of millions of pounds in extra fees. British business groups last week got sight of the U.K. government’s long-awaited post-Brexit border plans, via a series of consultations. One person in attendance said the proposals will “substantially increase food costs” for consumers from January. https://www.politico.eu/article/uk-business-fear-brexit-checks-food-price-inflation/
  3. So, you know that this Luft person's report was accurate and he's a brave guy? You know that his report is truthful and his motivations honorable? And were Giuliani's informants, Parnas and Fruman, now serving prison time for fraud in an unrelated matter, also brave and honorable when they made allegations against Biden and his actions in Ukraine?
  4. I guess one way to avoid addressing the specific points raised is to accuse Politico of bad faith. Typical reflexive response.
  5. I guess when the facts are so strongly against you, one recourse is to go to motives instead. You've got nothing.
  6. Even before this latest revelation, most legal experts, even those who were sceptical of the other criminal investigations were saying that this investigation posed the most serious threat to Trump.
  7. The justice dept doesn't use the designation "classified" for its confidential documents.

  9. Thanks, doc, for your informed opinion: Suicide Risk Reduces 73% in Transgender, Nonbinary Youths with Gender-Affirming Care Transgender and nonbinary youths have particularly high rates of poor mental health outcomes compared with their cisgender counterparts. According to investigators, these disparities are likely a consequence of social rejection, lack of support from parents, bullying and discrimination. Multiple sources of previously published research, found medical gender-affirming interventions to be helpful in improving the quality of life for transgender and nonbinary youths by decreasing rates of long-term mental health adverse outcomes https://www.hcplive.com/view/suicide-risk-reduces-73-transgender-nonbinary-youths-gender-affirming-care
  10. Kennedy pushes conspiracy theories that claim all vaccination is harmful and that scientists are suppressing the truth. How Robert F. Kennedy, Jr., Distorted Vaccine Science "Kennedy made his name in the anti-vaccine movement in 2005, when he published a story alleging a massive conspiracy regarding thimerosal, a mercury-based preservative that had been removed from all childhood vaccines except for some variations of the flu vaccine in 2001. In his piece, Kennedy completely ignored an Institute of Medicine immunization safety review on thimerosal published the previous year; he’s also ignored the nine studies funded or conducted by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention that have taken place since 2003." https://www.scientificamerican.com/article/how-robert-f-kennedy-jr-distorted-vaccine-science1/
  11. Could be a lot faster if Republicans get their way: As GOP Aims to Punish Poor, CBO Says Extending Trump Tax Cuts for Rich Would Add $3.5 Trillion to Deficit Just extending the TCJA's changes to individual income tax provisions would cost almost $2.5 trillion through 2033, according to the CBO and Joint Committee on Taxation. Debt service costs would tack on another $278 billion. If three other policies—higher estate and gift tax exemptions, changes to the tax treatment of investment costs, and certain business tax provisions—are extended plus debt service costs are included, the total hits nearly $3.5 trillion. https://www.commondreams.org/news/cbo-extend-trump-tax-cuts
  12. As has been pointed out to you previously, cumulative inflation from Jan 1, 2020 to Jan 1,, 2023 amounted to 16%. That puts quite a dent in your claim of a 30% increase in spending.
  13. More like he jumped the gun. I don't see how Twitter is going to pass that stress test given that there is almost no content moderation. Except when someone posts something that displeases Musk.
  14. You don't seem to understand that there can be more than one factor driving the value of a currency. Clearly you're not aware that the markets now have significantly lowered that odds that the Feds will raise interest rates again whereas the EU look like it will raise interest rates.. In addition, there's been a decline in US manufacturing output. So fears of a recession have grown stronger. Other than these considerations, thanks for the great comment.
  15. When was this collective "left" saying Biden is paying down the deficit? In fact "paying down the deficit" makes no sense since the deficit is a yearly phenomenon. Biden has claimed that his policies have made the growth of the national debt less, but it's a dubiious claim. On the other hand, Biden did succeed in getting passed a minimum corporate tax of 15% which takes effect in 2023.
  16. Not true. Guardian gave it 3 stars out of 5. Anyway, most reviewers agree it's bland. Not the kind of movie that would excite such an overwhelming number of savage ratings.Unless there was some extraneous motivation.
  17. The document exists therefore...? I remember the exultant cries raised by Trump supporters when it became known that banks had filed Suspicious Activity Reports on various members of the Biden family.
  18. Well, you made a comment about Biden destroying the economy. Just wanted to compare that to another economy that some claim is doing fine. As for deficts, yours is a typical amnesiac comment. What happened in 2020 that led to these large budget deficits?
  19. A second firm hired by Trump campaign found no evidence of election fraud Former president Trump’s campaign quietly commissioned a second firm to study election fraud claims in the weeks after the 2020 election, and the founder of the firm was recently questioned by the Justice Department about his work disproving the claims. Ken Block, founder of the firm Simpatico Software Systems, studied more than a dozen voter fraud theories and allegations for Trump’s campaign in late 2020 and found they were “all false,” he said in an interview with The Washington Post. “No substantive voter fraud was uncovered in my investigations looking for it, nor was I able to confirm any of the outside claims of voter fraud that I was asked to look at,” he said. https://www.washingtonpost.com/nation/2023/04/27/trump-false-election-fraud-claims/ alternate link: https://archive.ph/i8tvE#selection-307.0-307.73
  20. The U.S has the lowest unemployment level in over 50 years. And its GDP under Biden has grown a lot faster than the UK's.
  21. The Republicans love to ignore the Constitution when it doesn't align with their interests.
  22. Irony much? Your accusation that someone is employing a straw man argument is truly comical considering that's exactly what you've done. What people want to see or hear from Disney is utterly irrelevant to the fact that the Florida govt is going after Disney for exercising its right to free speech.
  23. Right. The President who gave huge tax cuts to corporations really wanted to change things.
  24. I got news for you. The people asking the question in this context aren't doing it for the sake of chitchat.
