Biden says anti-trans laws are 'close to sinful'
placeholder replied to Social Media's topic in World News
Thanks for proving to us that you don't understand the meaning of the word "almost". But even if Biden hadn't said "almost" re you seriously claiming that a state law can only be judged sinful if it violates a specific Biblical precept? Like allowing stores to open on the Sabbath? -
Much has been made about the fact that a bank or banks have filed Suspicious Activity Reports (SARs) on transactions with Hunter Biden and others. While the name of the report sounds incriminating, most of those reports never amount to anything How many SARs would a large bank file in a year? A BPI study found that, in 2017, a sample of the largest banks reviewed approximately 16 million alerts, filed over 640,000 SARs, and received feedback from law enforcement on a median of 4% of those SARs. Ultimately, this means that 90-95% of the individuals that banks report on were likely innocent. https://bpi.com/the-truth-about-suspicious-activity-reports/ If anyone cares to read the report from which this information was derived, here's a link to that: https://bpi.com/wp-content/uploads/2018/10/BPI_AML_Sanctions_Study_vF.pdf

Trump again lashes out at Pence, blames him for Jan. 6 riot

More lunacy. Apart from MAGA diehards, virtually no one in the legal community believes that Pence had the legal authority to send the election count back to the states to decide. -

There's also this which reveals the ethical standards of several of those involved in the study: Correction: Ivermectin Prophylaxis Used for COVID-19: A Citywide, Prospective, Observational Study of 223,128 Subjects Using Propensity Score Matching It has come to the attention of the journal that several authors failed to disclose all relevant conflicts of interest when submitting this article. As numerous legal experts have pointed out, Dominion has an exceptionally strong case. Legal experts say Fox News on shaky legal ground in Dominion lawsuit Dominion argues the vignettes contained in its court filings demonstrate how top hosts and executives at Fox knew the claims being pushed by Trump’s associates about Dominion were false but aired them anyway. “One just doesn’t see cases like this in defamation,” said Catherine Ross, a constitutional law professor at George Washington University who specializes in First Amendment issues. “Fox does not appear to have any plausible defense, particularly in light of what Dominion uncovered in discovery of real-time knowledge of falsity,” she said. https://thehill.com/homenews/media/3881278-legal-experts-say-fox-news-on-shaky-legal-ground-in-dominion-lawsuit/

Given that doctors run the risk of life imprisonment if convicted of performing an illegal abortion, they really can't be blamed for their reluctance to do so when guidelines are so unclear. And then there's the issue of bounty hunters: Texas has authorized private citizens to look for infractions of the law and sue.

China warns Philippines ‘not to bring wolves into the house’
placeholder replied to Scott's topic in World News
Actually, even Duterte ultimately repented of his stance on China. Duterte’s Dalliance With China Is Over The mercurial leader has realigned Manila with Washington as tensions rise in Asia. https://foreignpolicy.com/2021/11/02/duterte-china-philippines-united-states-defense-military-geopolitics/ It was the one policy of his that was always unpopular with the Filipino people. Given that China continues to commit aggression against the territorial waters, islands, and people of the Philippines, there isn't much chance that Duterte's China rapprochement will be revived.
