I think the reason that the Thai govt has lowered the limit is very clear: it doesn't want people parking their money in Thai banks. That drives up the value of the baht.

Thanks for sharing with us your low opinion of women in general. And it's significant that it's a woman who agrees with you that you judge as being able to think for herself. So to be an independent thinker all one has to do is agree with you. That should save those all independent thinkers a lot of effort. All they have to do is subscribe to your thoughts and not bother thinking for themselves at all.

Where a Vast Global Vaccination Program Went Wrong
placeholder replied to Caspersfriend's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
Well, Covax really isn't necessary for Thailand anyway, Thailand can easily afford to vaccinate all its citizens with the most effective vaccines. And it has a public health system capable of distributing those vaccines. -
First off, Polio, Tetanus, Yellow Fever, Hepatitis, and Typhoid are all single dose vaccines. But the issue with multidose vaccines is intervals. The immune system needs time to be adequately primed by the first dose before a second is administered. And presumably the same goes for a 3rd dose. So it's not so much a question of safety as it is of potency.

That depends on how quickly thailand gets its citizens sufficiently vaccinated or that a simple and highly effective treatment for Covid is found or devised. Keep in mind that I was responding to a clearly baseless claim that Thailand's tourism sector is ruined forever.

The last 2 links are to the same study and that study has apparently not been published in a peer-reviewed journal. This is the kind of junk science touted by denialist websites that will throw any gunk it can find at the vaccines and hope it will stick. And I have found no evidence that 10,000 people in Europe died within 48 hours of being vaccinated. Got a link for that particular claim? Or for the more than 6000 in the USA?

Thai Bank Deposit protection cut to 1 million THB

Thanks for the explanation. -
And before the pandemic 40 million tourists came here despite those issues. Why wouldn't they come back once this is in the rearview mirror?

Thai Bank Deposit protection cut to 1 million THB

Is it clear? The first clause of this sentence and the 2nd clause seem to contradict each other. " Protection is based on a per depositor per institution basis, meaning that all of an individual’s deposit accounts across all branches of that financial institution will be aggregated into a single amount." -
First off, you might want to check that 110 trillion baht figure. And why wouldn't tourism come back? Have the beaches disappeared? Have the mountains and forests evaporated? Is the scenery gone? Has the art and architecture disappeared? Has the all the cuisine turned into hamburgers? Lots of denunciations and extravagant claims in your post but precious little reasoning.

Did it say it stopped at mice? Did you even bother to check if the testing stopped with mice? Because if you had bothered, it would have been really easy to find this: PFIZER AND BIONTECH ANNOUNCE DATA FROM PRECLINICAL STUDIES OF MRNA-BASED VACCINE CANDIDATE AGAINST COVID-19 Wednesday, September 09, 2020 - 07:45am Immunization of non-human primates (rhesus macaques) with BNT162b2, a nucleoside-modified messenger RNA (modRNA) candidate that expresses the SARS-CoV-2 spike glycoprotein, resulted in strong anti-viral effects against an infectious SARS-CoV-2 challenge BNT162b2 immunization prevented lung infection in 100% of the SARS-CoV-2 challenged rhesus macaques, with no viral RNA detected in the lower respiratory tract of immunized and challenged animals. The BNT162b2 vaccination also cleared the nose of detectable viral RNA in 100% of the SARS-CoV-2 challenged rhesus macaques within 3 days after the infection https://www.pfizer.com/news/press-release/press-release-detail/pfizer-and-biontech-announce-data-preclinical-studies-mrna I suppose there is something perversely admirable in your persistence despite that fact that your claims and insinuations keep on getting shot down.

I don't see why they would be delighted. They may be affected less than most, but they still are affected.

Thai Bank Deposit protection cut to 1 million THB
placeholder replied to snoop1130's topic in Thailand News
Well, if you want to lower the value of the baht, that would help do it. -
The thing is, thaugh, is just because the baht is declining in value relative to other foreign currencies, that doesn't mean that the decline in purchase power is due mostly to that decline. Lost of other factors affect prices. For instance, there's a huge shortage of chips worldwide that's driving up the prices of anything that needs chips. That includes electronic devices and automobiles. Or take food prices. Below are 2 charts. One chronicles the value of the baht in relation to the dollar. The other chronicles food price inflation. You'll note that when the baht was strongest, food price inflation was highest. https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/food-inflation https://tradingeconomics.com/thailand/currency

Thai fruit exports grow more than 42% in first half of 2021
placeholder replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Can anybody explain what this sentence means? "Mr. Phusit Rattanakul Sereeruengrit, Director of the Trade Policy and Strategy Office (TPSO), has reported on the current state of exports of Thai agricultural products in the first half of the year, noting growth of more than 20 percent, especially fresh fruit with an export value of more than 2.89 billion US dollars and 42.21 percent growth. " Does it mean that the tonnage of Thai agricultural exports has grown by more than 20% and the cash value has grown by 42.21% or vice versa? Or maybe it means something else entirely? -
No, that's not what viruses do. Being nastier is irrelevant to whether or not a virus survives. Keep in mind that it's competing against other variants, not against humans. The virus could get nastier (up to a point) or it could become more benign. What matters is whether or not it infects humans (and other species) faster than other variants.

Actually, oil prices aren't that influential in respect to inflation anymore. There have been huge improvements in efficiency since the the 80's. https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/06/oilpricesinflation.asp
