What is there to learn? The USA is providing the system to Israel in return for Israel taking certain targets off the table. Iran has attempted to murder Donald J. trump. Iran has sponsored multiple terror attacks against the USA over decades and has launched multiple cyber attacks on the USA. Iran is a hostile entity and sponsor of international terrorism. You do know that it was Iran and Hezbollah who have kept Assad in power and who have a direct hand in the deaths of 500,000 Syria and the creation of 14 million refugees, many who ended up in the EU. It is Iran which supported the Islamic tyranny of the Houthi in Yemen and is directly responsible for 750,000+ dead in Yemen's civil war and the 2 million+ refugees. It is Syria which threatens the Gulf state Arabs, the Arabs who supply the oil and gas that you most likely use to live your life of comparative luxury. It is Iran which encouraged Hamas to attack Israel to derail the peace agreement that Saudi Arabia was going to sign with Israel. And it is Iran which has been supporting in part the protests across the free world in support of Hamas.

To distract. It's the same response over and over. Israel is a convenient excuse to justify Iran's support of international terrorism. Whether one likes or supports Trump, the fact is that Iran wants him dead. Russia is Iran's enabler and likes the fact that Iran supports Russian allies like Assad in Syria and can force oil and gas prices higher. Russia supports Trump because he is a divisive factor in the USA and Americans who do not support Trump will fight anything he says or does, even when Trump has a valid point or can do something to benefit the USA. Russia wants a divided USA and Americans to bicker. Both Russia and Iran are enemies of the free world.

I stopped using the bus. It was 305 baht from the airport to the bus depot outside of the city. You were then crammed onto a smelly overstuffed crowded van for another 100 baht for the drive into Hua Hin. If staying outside the main strip, you still had to get a tuktuk for 200-250 baht from clock tower. Then the bus company started trying to charge excess baggage weight, and if you had 2 bags they wanted an additional bag fee. They started charging for online ticket purchasing. At peak season, it becomes a hassle to get a seat and the departure times are sometimes inconvenient, The Customer service went from abrupt to rude and arrogant. Sometimes I travel with a friend or 2 to Hua Hin so it just wasn't worth it. Now we just either drive or take a driver for 2000 baht for a Camry or 2400 baht for an SUV. Once when we were several we took a private van for 3000 baht. It can sit 8 and there were 4 of us so every got to stretch out and sleep. It gets there faster than the bus since there are no stops and transfers. It's private and less annoying. We use Hua Hin Cab. You seriously believe Cha Am is a better beach? The vehicles park all along the beach perimeter 2 rows thick with pushy vendors of crap camped out on the strip. Getting to the narrow beach forces one to run the gauntlet. The beach road is lined with mediocre restaurants specializing in greasy fried food. Hua Hin beach between the Marriott all the way down to the Hyatt is often sparsely filled, is wide and open. The best swimming is farther south at the Pines army recreation area and golf course. Yes, Cha Am has many seasonal residents crammed into the condo towers. The houses behind the beach road hotels are concreted patches, many with for sale or for rent signs on them. The quality of dining and of access to retail, health care and food stores is superior in Hua Hin. The only reason why so many foreigners are in Cha Am is because it was cheaper to purchase property. It's not a bad place, but it is a bit of an elderly ghetto. Hua Hin is distinguished by its youthful and vibrant Thai population because it hosts a large university, military training facilities, provincial government offices, hospitals, the Royal summer residence, and is where Bangkok's families and educated young people weekend or take holidays. Yes, lots of foreign tourists, but aside from high season are not particularly noticeable.

Americans say goodbye to more brands - Surprising Closures
Patong2021 replied to CharlieH's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
So what? Covid expedited the change to online retail that had been underway years earlier. Many of the retail outlets for Rite Aid, CVS, Macy's, Walmart are in locations that have not been profitable for years. Walgreens had stores within 500 meters of each other. There was no need. Red Lobster and Applebees had been mismanaged and offered a dining experience that had not kept up with the times. It was all processed food, much of it frozen and then heated or microwaved on premises. Blooming Brands is closing some locations, not all and it makes sense why; The majority of these restaurants were older assets with leases from the '90s and early 2000s. The decision "considered a variety of factors" including sales and traffic-trade areas, in addition to "the investment that would have to be made to improve the restaurants," according to Nation's Restaurant News. Parent company Bloomin' Brands announced during a February earnings call that they expect to nearly triple the number of Outback openings in the United States this year compared to 2023. Since six new Outback restaurants opened in America last year, that means up to 18 additional locations could begin serving customers in 2024. There is the doom and gloom nonsensical stories from TikTok, and then there are upbeat stories like this; https://www.eatthis.com/fastest-growing-restaurant-chains-2024/ https://nrf.com/research-insights/top-retailers/hot-25-retailers/2024-hot-25-retailers-list Adapt to changing consumer preferences or lose the customers. -
Israel Hamas War the Widening Middle East Conflict
Patong2021 replied to Social Media's topic in The War in Israel
Hezbollah is an occupying force. It is not the Lebanese state. Why are you not opposed to a militarized religious group occupying southern lebanon? Why not return sovereignty and control to lebanon? If that was done, there would not be a need for Israel to intervene. -
US ambassador vows stronger ties with Thailand
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Key word is COURTESY CALL. It was not a diplomatic meeting where affairs of state were discussed, An Ambassador presents his/her credentials to the host foreign office. Usually, if the Ambassador is important it is to the head of state (e.g. King, or President). Protocol is very important in foreign affairs and Thais are sticklers for protocol. There is a hierarchy and a pecking order. -
US ambassador vows stronger ties with Thailand
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
The meeting depends on the nature of the event. If the Ambassador is presenting a direct message from his PM, then the host PM may meet the Ambassador to accept the specific message. As I stated, it is not usual practice for a foreign Ambassador to meet with the host government PM. If that was the case, the PM would not have time for other more important activities. -
Not a moaner. The incident highlights the disregard for safety, even by people who have the responsibility for supporting it. The child was thrown from the vehicle and suffered a serious head trauma. Had the child been in a properly attached car seat, this injury most likely would have been prevented. I expect that the mother was holding the child in her arms, when the collision occurred. If that moan causes anyone in here to reconsider transporting children without a proper car seat, then the moan will have achieved a positive result. If more people moaned to heighten awareness, we would not see these sob stories of parents crying over injuries their children have sustained, injuries due in large part to the decisions of the parents.

You claim that there was a US occupation. When confronted with the intentional falsehood you offer the excuse that "many Lebanese viewed it as an occupation". That's a cheap cop out of making a false claim. What is many? The real occupation was in the invasion by Syria. That was the occupation. Not a word from you on that. Hezbollah is a Shia Islam group. It draws little if any support from the Sunni muslims, the Christians, the Druze and the estimated 1.5 million Syrian refugees who fled the mass murder in Syria effected by Assad, Iran and Hezbollah. On the contrary, a strong argument can be made that an overwhelming majority of Lebanese residents want the removal of Hezbollah and its state within a state structure. Hezbollah is unwelcome in the north of Lebanon where the Christians have fought to keep them out. They occupy the southern parts of Israel seizing farms and villages and using them for ammo storage, missile and artillery launch sites and staging areas for attacks on Israel. This area was previously a Sunni, Christian and Druze populated region. The non Shia residents were driven out by Hezbollah because they did not agree to the Hezbollah use of the land to wage war on Israel. It is Hezbollah that is the occupying force. Hezbolah was the instrument that propped up the Assad regime and participated in the mass murder of 500,000 Syrians. Why are you defending Hezbollah? Is the killing of Israelis so appealing that you will ignore what happened to the Syrian non combatants, many of whom were killed with poison gas dropped by helicopters?

US ambassador vows stronger ties with Thailand

Ambassadors do not usually visit a Prime Minister. Ambassadors are representatives of the Foreign Affairs department of a government and they typically visit with foreign ministry officials. If it is a trade matter they visit with the commerce or trade ministry officials. When does the president of the USA meet the Ambassador from Canada or the UK or the EU? -
No. Hezbollah was not created by because of your false claim that US forces occupied Lebanon in 1982. The USA participated in a multinational peacekeeping force. It was authorized by the UN. The Multinational Force in Lebanon (MNF) was sent to West Beirut to serve as a bufffer between Israel and the armed units of the PLO. The Multinational Force assisted the Lebanese Armed Forces in evacuating the PLO, Syrian forces and other foreign combatants involved in Lebanon's civil war. There were 4 members on the MNF: USA, France, UK and Italy. The MNF also helped provide support and training to the Lebanese Armed Forces. Hezbollah was sponsored by Iran and is a Shia muslim organization. It's primary purpose is to destroy Israel and to further the doctrine of Shia Islam. It does not represent the majority of Lebanese and is in fact a proxy occupying force that see its interests linked to Iran and Syria. Are you now going to deny the Iranian control or the Syrian occupation of Lebanon that was the core factor Hezbollah's founding?

Thailand Tightens Airport Screening Amid Afghanistan Health Alert
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
You ridicule the health agency for being prudent and being cautious with visitors from Afghanistan. It is a serious communicable disease. What do you propose they do otherwise? Ever hear of Ebola? The symptoms do not always present as Ebola. When there is an outbreak, do you recommend that no precautions be taken? How would you manage a communicable disease? -
Has my sex tourist friend found a loop hole?
Patong2021 replied to AustinRacing's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Yes, but your statement could have been made in 1 line. My question was detailed and was 2 lines and a bit. Here's another question; Does the scenario take into account the likelihood that the prostitute may not actually be a biological female, but in fact what is referred to in Thailand as a Kathoey, aka lady boy? Some men, particularly those aged 50 and over, who frequent the prostitutes of Pattaya a seek out masseuses who present with the potential to be men. I believe there was a series made in Pattaya that profiled such events. Ask your "friend" if he has ever discovered that the she was a he and whether or not they consummated their sweaty tryst. -

Thailand is the 2nd largest economy in SE Asia. The USA is a major source of imports for Thailand, holding 5% of the market. In 2022, Thailand imported almost $15 billion worth of US products. US manufacturers rely on a significant amount of components sourced from Thailand, Thailand is also an important supplier of consumer electronics. Sourcing from Thailand reduces dependence on China and India. -
There was a good reason why the Blair government had counseled the Crown to keep its distance from Al Fayed. The allegations were raised decades ago but a case could not be substantiated. The man used the death of Diana to provide cover from him as he sought to refocus the attention away from him and onto false conspiracies.

What city in Thailand has the best weather?
Patong2021 replied to Rachel2023's topic in Thailand Travel Forum
Consideration of favourable weather should take into consideration prevailing winds and strength and foliage cover. Yes, Hua Hin and PKK as a whole, has favourable general weather, but it can often become a negative. - The lack of precipitation means that the province is always at risk of drought and water shortages in dry season. - There are parts of Hua Hin, especially the new gated housing compounds that are very heavily cemented/paved over. The lack of greenspace and trees makes those places very hot. - On the days that there is little wind, 50 M in from the beach and it can be stifling hot. Even when walking on the beach when there is no wind can be really hot and the gnat clouds can swarm you. The mosquitoes can descend on you at night without a mild breeze. There are days when the pollution clouds from north of Hua Hin drift down combined with the smoke from the jerks who burn leaves and garbage can be killer. All that to say that an island climate is wonderful. A light breeze to keep things cool combined with the evening showers keeps the heat in check. It isn't that nice in rainy season. When it pours it really pours. There are 3 general large hospitals in Hua Hin; Bangkok San Paulo and the public. There are actually 5 hospitals that make up the public hospital with the largest at soi 10. The small hospitals are more like clinics which specialize in things like pediatrics or checkups or blood sampling. -
Bangkok Suffers Severe Smog as PM2.5 Levels Soar Amidst Heat Wave
Patong2021 replied to snoop1130's topic in Bangkok News
The pictogram explains so much. There are days when Hua Hin air quality is very bad, coughing and phlegm level. Why would people want to holiday in thailand? What's the new slogan for higher income tourists? Come with white lungs and leave with a lovely brown glaze? -

You could have just written that you hold the opinion that the most cost effective method of transacting with a prostitute is to visit a brothel. 1 line instead of 8. Does having coitus with someone who most likely serviced multiple customers that day, performing on a mattress that has hosted many clients and has the bodily fluid drippings to show for it, add to the "friend's" fun?- 104 replies
