My non UK bank does similar. I understand how they work. It is also about benefits and protections. Credit cards have changed how they treat FX transactions and it is your advice that should be updated. You are assuming that CC usage from a decade ago has remained unchanged and that there is one credit card policy for all international regions. Alot has changed over the past 5 years. Many retailers do not charge fees on CC transactions. I sometimes pay large bills at Lotus with my Credit Card. There is no additional fee. I pay for some large meal bills with a credit card, and the restaurants I patronize do not add the CC fee. Yes, some credit cards do not have high FX supplemental fees. However, these reduced FX charge CCs typically have annual fees and may not necessarily offer the best benefits or extensions. CC issuers may waive FX fees, but they came up with an alternative method of capturing FX transaction fees through the annual fees. Another option is to use DCC terminals. Many credit card terminals are newer versions that use software offering Dynamic Currency Conversion (DCC). This provides the option to make payments in the foreign currency or in the CC issuer's home currency. It uses a higher exchange rate (ranging from 3-7% higher) than the market rate. The DCC option allows the CC user to avoid the foreign transaction fee and credit card exchange rate markups mentioned. It all comes down to knowing how many transactions one will make and in doing a cost benefit analysis. If one has a Thai bank account, and wishes to use a credit card, having a locally issued credit card is almost always the most cost effective method. A person should not make a credit card selection based upon a small number of purchases.

He certainly does not fit the profile. No cheap and tacky tats, he looks to be in decent shape, and might even wax. Appears to be somewhat short, so definitely not Dutch. 😄 Man is a true idiot though for thinking he could swim away. Now he will be in prison in his wet and soggy clothes and it's going to get worse because he will stay that way for some time. Source Instagram from Reddit from Pattaya News

Kamala Caught delivering Contradictory Messages to Jews and Muslims
Patong2021 replied to Talon's topic in Political Soapbox
The message is consistent. VP Harris supports Israel's right to defend itself, but that right does not give Israel carte blanche to whatever it wants to do. Nothing Harris has said deviates from the longstanding position that the USA has had on Israel or the self determination of Palestinians. As for Rashida Tlaib, she was born in the USA. Her political positions may be unpleasant, but she is representing her constituents. She is under no obligation to support Harris, but her district will see the consequences of that at some point. Trump's policies will be not be any friendlier to her Palestinian agenda than Harris' -
British Man Found Shirtless and Agitated on Pattaya Roadside

This would result in delays and additional expense. How would your solution ensure reliability of data? If Thailand does not have access to real time data, how would Thailand verify the document submitted? People submit false documents on a daily basis. The UK offers a basic Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check to get a copy of your criminal record. It costs £18. The check will only show convictions that are not ‘spent’, for example some types of caution will disappear after 3 months. It can take usually takes up to 14-30 days to receive a certificate. The US FBI offers a criminal record verification for $18 and requires submission of a fingerprint card and up to 30 days processing. This is just one big hassle. People without criminal records won't put up with it as it shifts the burden of proof to them. Your demand is not viable not cost effective. -

Ok, how would you do that. It is easy to criticize. Now try and provide a viable solution. And remember you are demanding that Thailand perform a criminal record verification of all visitors to Thailand. Thailand is projected to have 36 million visitors in 2024. How would Thailand verify all 36 million without causing entry delays and not requiring a processing center staffed by thousands while respecting every international privacy regulation and obtaining access to the criminal records. You do know that access to such files does not even occur in most western countries don't you? Are you planning on microchipping people or setting up an international biometric tracking system? -

Fair observation. I have the impression that there is no management of these kids. It is more like promotion and manipulation. The promoters see the fighters as a commodity. They are used and when injured or in need of guidance are discarded. Some training clubs offer mentorship, but it is hit and miss. The foreign fighters come to train and buy the badge of being able to say they trained in Thailand. They often are not the best quality fighters, both physically and mentally. And they typically don't have managers. It is very different from the experience offered in places like South Korea, UK, USA etc. where the kids are trained, and guided and subject to drug testing, -
2500 fraudulent voter registration being investigated!
Patong2021 replied to riclag's topic in Political Soapbox
The explanation provided was quite clear. The evidence so far suggests that this was an intentional act, sloppily effected to ensure being discovered so as to undermine the integrity of the PA voting system. I believe you term these sort of events "false flag operations". Election workers noticed irregularities while preparing to process the forms and immediately initiated an investigation. This shows that the election protections work. There has been transparency. The event has similarities to other false flag events. I do notice that you are quiet on the exposed Russian initiated fraud. Federal intelligence agencies determined a widely shared video posted to social media in late October 2024 that reportedly showed mail ballots in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, being ripped up was a fake that was manufactured by Russian operatives seeking to undermine confidence in the November election. “This Russian activity is part of Moscow’s broader effort to raise unfounded questions about the integrity of the US election and stoke divisions among Americans … In the lead up to election day and in the weeks and months after, the [intelligence community] expects Russia to create and release additional media content that seeks to undermine trust in the integrity of the election and divide Americans.”. The Russian fraud is germane to this event because it shows that there is a concerted effort underway to undermine confidence in the US electoral system. The sabotage is spread, enabled and facilitated by people who rush to spread their claims of imagined conspiracies. -

In the civilized world where the rule of law is respected, we have one common belief, a presumption of innocence. The burden of proof is on you to prove beyond a reasonable doubt that the man is a "junkie". Your arguments are unfounded and a suggest either intentional trolling or are the imaginings of an ignorant individual. Plausible explanations have been provided, with a possibility that the man was having a mental health episode, or was drugged or had another type of health crisis. You have no idea if the man is a junkie, and yet you label him as one. You call him scantily clad. The man's shorts are no different than what other people wear, and if anything are actually longer. The manner in which he is sitting hiked the pants up, but it is clear that the shorts are appropriate. Yes, the man was in an agitated state. So what? Some manifestations of mental illness, of sugar imbalance, of seizure and stroke can leave a person in a terrible state too. If he had been involuntarily drugged, he might have ended up this way too. -

The mob is at it again. Judging someone guilty without evidence. Why is he scum? Scum is someone who condemns without established facts. How do you know he was not unwillingly drugged? Jeffrey Dahmer was a mass murderer in the USA. He drugged his 17 victims before murdering and then dismembering them. One of his victims was 14 year old Konerak Sinthasomphone. He had escaped Dahmer and was found on the street wandering drunk and in a confused state. He was returned to Dahmer by police after Dahmer convinced them that Sinthasomphone was 19 and drunk, and the two were in a relationship. That's what an assumption like yours results in. It is impossible for Thailand to undertake criminal record checks of visitors to Thailand. Your demand would necessitate Thailand having access to the criminal databases of other nations, and Thailand does not have it. Only people on international registries that specifically file with Thailand can be identified. How do you know this person is a junkie? Did you check his bloodwork? If you think this man is over muscled you must be in awful physical shape or embarrassed by your own physique. The man has a trim physique with defined musculature suggesting he visits the gym or performs manual labour. His body is in proportion. He isn't over muscled. Finally, a responsible, fair and rational observation. -
KO tragedy: British boxing hopeful’s final round in Pattaya hotel

Assuming it was ingested. How can one conclude ketamine was directly involved until its presence at the necessary levels is established? I bristle at the Thai police conclusions that are released before there has been a thorough medical exam, and a proper investigation. Two young men in a basic hotel room with a large unmade bed, and possibly some marijuana and ketamine in unidentified quantities. Ketamine is favoured by "partiers" for its psychoactive effects that include of euphoria, and vivid dreams. Sex workers like ketamine because of its calming effect and ability to provide a separation of mind from the body, that facilitates actions that might otherwise not be done. -
California still remains the main contributor to the US national tax base. It is California that tops up the generous federal funding of social services spending in mismanaged poor states that vote Republican. if it wasn't for California, impoverished states like MS, AL, KY and LA would be starving.

Please think before offering negative condemnation. Consider the facts as reported. Consider the drugs implicated; marijuana and ketamine. Yes, we all know ketamine is deadly. However, there is no mention of the toxicology tests to determine drug levels in the injured/deceased. How about waiting until all the facts are established. Look at the room. Does that really look like the "suite of a lavish resort". How was evidence secured when a photo of somchai is on display? And so on. -
Something isn't right here. Favre says he has brain damage which has resulted in his cognitive decline, i.e. he cannot think clearly. https://www.renuehealth.com/brett-favre-opens-traumatic-brain-injuries/ Favre is deeply mired in Mississippi's largest corruption scandals in its history. As reported by Mississippi Today, the state auditor's office that said "illegal expenditures and unlawful dispositions were made when Favre knew or had reason to know through the exercise of reasonable diligence that the expenditures were illegal and/or the dispositions were unlawful." A panel of three justices from the Mississippi Supreme Court denied Favre's request for removal as a defendant in the civil lawsuit seeking recovery of the stolen funds.

High-Speed Rail Project Linking Airports Faces New Delay
Patong2021 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Come on. There are a large number of websites that provide real time arrival and departure of flights from the airport. Flightstats and Flight radar has been doing it for at least 10 years. Thailand airports have been providing realtime updates of departures and arrivals for well over a decade too. Don't people in your family know how to use the internet? It wasn't too difficult to figure out arrival time into UTP. You could have messaged your family at departure and given the estimated arrival time. It's a 90 minute flight. I wasn't there for your taxi experience 3 years ago, but it doesn't matter now. The reality today is that there are more than 10 transport options to get from UTP to Pattaya or to Bangkok ranging in cost from 800 baht to 1500 baht. I was surprised to see that the cost to Huahin is 2000 baht which is the same as BKK-HH. It's bargain time at UTP. -
Look in the mirror. The answer is staring back at you. The flow of unauthorized migrants has always been high except during the brief Covid19 suspension. The reality is that unauthorized entries surged during the 1990's. It was a reflection of the turmoil in the latin American region and in Haiti and Cuba. This was one of the reasons why President Bush tried to introduce immigration reform. The current immigration crisis is a reflection of the refusal of some political factions to act responsibly. Everytime an administration comes up with a solid plan, some political groups refuse to let it proceed. It is easier to blame than to take responsibility for ignorance. In President George W. Bush’s second term, two initiatives failed. They were not perfect plans but two extremist factions in the Congressional delegations, one in the Republican and the other in the Democrat, blocked them. The best chance to enact comprehensive reform came in 2013 during President Barack Obama’s second term, when a bipartisan group of senators dubbed the “Gang of Eight” agreed on a bill that would toughen security at the southern border and make it harder for employers to hire migrants who had entered the U.S. illegally while providing legal status and a path to citizenship for millions of such migrants who had resided in the U.S. for many years. The proposal passed the Senate 68 to 32 with strong bipartisan support. It did not enjoy the support of a majority of House Republicans, and then-Speaker John Boehner refused to bring it to floor for a vote, and the measure died. Had the Obama plan been applied, we would not see the problems we see today. A year ago, a bipartisan team of senators began negotiations to produce a bill that enough members of both parties could accept to overwhelm objections from progressive Democrats and America First Republicans. The team negotiated for four months to produce this bill. It took less than four days for its support among Republicans to collapse. Why? Donald Trump objected. It looks like the republicans wanted a campaign issue. Once the House Speaker stated publicly that he would not allow the Senate bill to reach the House floor for a vote, Republican senators were unwilling to run the political risk of supporting a measure that would not become law. Thank you Donald J. Trump.

No. Would you drink the water that comes out of your spray device? Why then would you wish to introduce that same water deep into your rectum and even the lower colon? The bacteria, viruses, fungi & mold spores, amoebas etc. found in the water supply are just as infectious when introduced by way of the rectum. Any liquids administered should always be sterile and appropriately pH balanced. One should not over worry bowel movements. If one is a light eater, has limited activity and has a slow metabolism, the excretions will reflect that. One of the fastest ways to improve bowel output is to get active. Physical movement helps the bowel movements.

I won't drink water without lime or lemon in it.
Patong2021 replied to Gobbler's topic in ASEAN NOW Community Pub
Stop it. My dentist gave me a reality check when she told me to avoid soda water. It is acidic and erodes tooth enamel. Adding the lemon or lime makes it more acidic. I was told to drink plain water. I verified and she was indeed correct. -
The police acted on the information available at the time. The additional charges were laid once they had enough evidence to support the charge I am not saying this is not Islamic related. it may very well be. However, in looking at this kid, he doesn't look particularly "normal". I suggest that someone put him up to this and that the police should be looking into that as well.

I have little faith in Thai food labels and when I purchase organic produce, I try to buy the foreign options. My local Lotus has some Australian organic products. I can sometimes find US sourced organic berries. Not all fruit and vegetables need to be organic. One can safely consume some things without worry provided the produce is thoroughly washed and scrubbed where necessary. I do try to eat organic berries, apples, and celery. The massive orange carrots freak me out so I will buy the baby cut carrots from the USA. Whenever there is Japanese fruit available, I will sometimes buy that because they have pesticide standards.Sometimes you have to be prepared to visit a Tops and Villa Market too.

The letters were sent because that is what decent people do. Are you angry because President Biden and VP Harris showed some class?
-
VP Harris had no control over the US borders. NONE. Why then do you make the false statement? US Border laws are passed by the US Congress and they are enforced by US Homeland Security which includes the US Border Patrol. It was Trump who would not let the last bipartisan border legislation pass, legislation which have funded additional border security assets and attacked the core reason for migration. There are no open borders in the USA. Yes, there is a problem with unauthorized migrants. It is nothing new. Unauthorized entries occurred under the Trump administration just as they have under the administrations of Biden, Obama, Bush, Clinton, Bush, Reagan, and so on. The numbers coming in are too large to stop with conventional means. There are organized gangs who transport the migrants. The people who are shouting the loudest about "illegals" refuse to accept that they are in large part the reason why those millions of people are arriving. They have had multiple options to address the issue, many more cost effective than paying for fences and more guards. The Bush plan was turned down too and had it been put into effect much of the current mess could have been reduced.
-
It was a recitation of facts. Trump was convicted on 34 felony charges. You term the charges "political". It does not matter, as Trump was charged with dishonest acts that violated the law. To argue otherwise is to say that the law should not apply to anyone who engages in bribery, and makes false accounting regulatory filings. Did he or did he not engage in the legal acts?
