We don't know anything about the shooter's motivations. Even if he were a Dem, his motivation may not have anything to do with politics.

People should not play politics with assassinations.

The politics of the shooter don't matter, he was just a nut job. Maybe he just wanted his 15 minutes of fame.

Clearly, someone screwed up, and there will be investigations.

Or the nut job wanted to make Trump look good by shooting in his general direction. Unless the shooter left a manifesto, we're not going to know.

The actions of a single individual by definition cannot be a conspiracy. The guy was a nut job, who knows what his motivation was?

What call for a surge to the border? Are you claiming that illegals are voting in Federal elections?

I don't believe there was any conspiracy, just some nut job shooter. The only wrinkle is the possibility that the nut job missed Trump on purpose, specifically to generate sympathy for Trump. But it's more likely that the nut job was a bad shot.

Doesn't matter what party the shooter belongs to - he was just a nut job.

This is July. There will be many more events between now and the election that will put this in the rear view mirror.

No doubt this was a real assassination attempt. The focus is going to be on Secret Service shortcomings.

I will say what no one is saying - the assassination attention has shifted the focus away from Biden at the moment. I suspect by the time the Beltway types get back to talking about Biden, it will be too late to replace him.

You are correct in that the Biden campaign has done a poor job enunciating their platform - so far. They may be waiting for the convention, when the platform is officially approved. Also, it's early, and most people aren't paying attention to such things.
