The Prosecution put on a good case, but what really sunk Trump was his bad defense. @jerrymahoney would have put on a better defense. The only worse defense was @Yellowtail's amnesia defense: "What are the charges? If you haven't memorized the charges, Trump must be innocent". I don't think that would have worked in court.

It makes complete sense to not force the jury to agree on a single underlying crime. Because, otherwise, criminals would benefit from committing multiple underlying crimes, due to disagreement among jurors which crime is most significant. What you are suggesting is bad public policy. It's not the judge's fault that Trump committed multiple crimes.

They are going to have to thread the needle - they can't give Biden immunity now, so they have to stall a final ruling until after the election. Something like there is immunity for official acts, and the courts must decide on a case by case what is an official act. Which would allow the next president to assassinate a rival and then the Supreme Court could rule it was an official act. What they won't do is rule that Trump's January 6 crimes were official acts (or not). They will send that down to the lower courts, for that question to return after the election.
