Okay, let's recap the bidding. Some posters claim they don't give any serious money to their girlfriends or wives. I assume many of them have girlfriends or wives who are working, and can take care of their financial needs. But what of the posters whose wives/girlfriends are not working? Do the wives simply make do without any significant cash? That's where I am doubtful, because virtually all the Thai ladies I know have families that constantly need money. I know one lady with an adult son who crashed his motorcycle, and was paralyzed from the waist down - twice. He had enormous hospital bills, which she had to pay.
