Inflation in the USA - Does it worry you?
Danderman123 replied to EVENKEEL's topic in US & Canada Topics and Events
The market will sort all of this out over time. There was a huge disruption to the world economy over the last couple of years, and 700,000+ people disappeared in the USA. So, there is a temporary labor shortage in many countries. Enterprises that don’t adapt by offering higher wages will disappear. There will be higher prices, as employers will pass on the higher costs. This inflation will continue until the employment issues are resolved. Higher prices incentivize additional production, 2x4s at $7 will be produced at ever higher levels until people don’t buy any more. Then, prices will stabilize. -
Vaccine resistant mutant strain? This bodes not well.
Danderman123 replied to ArcticFox's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
You mean to say your internet friends have not shown you any evidence that vaccines work. But, five minutes on Google would reveal many clinical trials showing efficacy of vaccines. Also, if you track the progress of the epidemic in countries as vaccinations increase, you can see the virus disappearing. -
Vaccine resistant mutant strain? This bodes not well.
Danderman123 replied to ArcticFox's topic in COVID-19 Coronavirus
One issue not discussed is the infectiousness of this new variant. It’s possible that mutation of the spike protein reduces its capability to infect. Also note the suspected origin in Tanzania, a rare case of a country that denies Covid is an issue, and does not test for Covid. I would recommend that countries that deny Covid be quarantined. -
Foreign Ministry denies holding up Polish Moderna donation
Danderman123 replied to webfact's topic in Thailand News
Let me guess: Poland and the university claim they are waiting for the Thai government to finish the paperwork, and the Thai government will claim that they didn't get it, or some other fail. Just like the million doses from the USA that Senator Duckworth was trying to arrange.- 33 replies

“Since they are still able to acquire the virus, and spread it, even if they are vaccinated, I will expect morethan the "to save Grandma" excuse.” this is a lie by omission. Vaccination reduces the chances of infection by up to 90%, and thus stops the spread of the virus. You are clearly trying to use anti-vaxx talking points here. Goodbye.

You are not keeping up with current events. it was just 2 months ago that Covid overwhelmed the hospital system in Thailand. There were no beds for Covid patients, and people were dying in their homes. Even people suffering non-Covid illnesses could not be treated. No other communicable disease has the capability of jamming up hospitals systems like Covid. So, yeah, if you just compare numbers, the 4 million who died in the last year or so represent only an order of magnitude more deaths than from the flu. But the other effects of Covid put it in a different class, and much more dangerous. now, if you want to believe that governments around the world are independently using Covid as a power grab, that’s up to you. But that belief doesn’t help you understand severe epidemics.

You are missing the point: there are people reading this forum who aren’t getting the jab because they believe that Covid isn’t a big deal. Posts like yours only reinforce their crazy beliefs. My opinion is that fully vaccinated people don’t have to live in fear, but should wear face masks where required.

If you don’t vaccinate, life in Thailand may be difficult. -
Sellers in Chatuchak and Khao San ready themselves for tourists

The lack of planning for November 1 is going to result in a reduction of new visitors during the first week of November. Thailand is going to have to bring in travel agents or other special group if planes are going to have passengers the first week.
