Odd Habits of Bargirls
Due to her passable English, I assume she is a retired bargirl.

fist fights
I used to work in bars in my home town, and saw plenty of fights in a country bar. Just like the movies. But the best fight I ever saw was 2 bargirls in Soi 6, fighting over a customer. Literally in the street.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
She clarified that the construction is in progress. But the main point is that she claims she has a Farang boyfriend who is paying for a house, but she still wants to play with other customers. Moral of the story: don't send money to a Thai lady because you are lonely.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
About 3 months ago, I visited an older lady in Chumphae. She claimed to have not had a man in 17 years, and acted like it when we met. After I went back to Pattaya, she messaged me a few weeks later to announce that she had a Farang boyfriend, and he built her a house. And now she wants to see me in Pattaya.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
Some bargirls treat their Thai boyfriends like dirt, mostly because the bargirls know their men are there for the money. Last night, I had a bargirl in my condo, and when it was time to go, she called her boyfriend to come pick her up (she lives quite a distance from my condo). When he showed up, she told him to wait a bit, so he sat outside on his moto while she finished her beer, and pawed me. For half an hour. In a few days, he will give her a ride on his moto to my condo so she can spend the night. The flip side is, when the money dries up, he will ghost her.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
This may be a thing everywhere in Thailand, but a bargirl just went home because her family basically sold her as a wife to a wealthy Chinese man who happens to be the boss of the bargirl's father.

Bequeathing Stocks and Shares - or Sell?
i own a lot of US stocks, and was thinking of transferring some to a Thai lady. I know that requires her to have a US Tax ID, but what are the other requirements for a Thai citizen to own US stocks?

Odd Habits of Bargirls
One quirk about bargirls is that some are very gullible concerning customers. One lady told me about a customer who had barfined her for 3 days, and was planning a month with her during High Season. His initial pitch was that he was selling his house and would have proceeds of 10 million baht, which he would give to her if she gave up working to live with him, presumably next year, with the possibility of marriage. Based on his frequent online discussions of that arrangement, the bargirl talked with her Thai husband about how to accommodate the customer, and the husband agreed to do the legal divorce for one million baht cash. That must have been a difficult conversation, since the Official Story is that she is a drinks only bargirl. Of course, it's a scam: the customer's goal is a cheap month with her. He's already backed off his claim that he is selling the house to give her ten million in cash, and now he is talking about buying a bar. In the meantime, he is sending her small money in drips and drabs, and demanding she not go with customers. The latter didn't work, as she is in Singapore with me at the moment. My advice to her is to evaluate the month long gig on its own merits, not to be enticed by promises of future benefits. Money talks, BS walks. As for the Thai husband, she really has to walk back the divorce story. Hard to put that toothpaste back in the tube.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
This is unfortunately too common: what bargirls do when a customer dies. Usually this happens when the customer is back home, but sometimes the customer passes away in Pattaya. Of course, the bargirl reaction is based on how good a customer he was.

Shan State and Thailand
Correct. Just like there are differences between the Shan and Thai languages, but after a few days, a Thai speaker should be able to understand some Shan.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
and then there are the bargirls who never outgrow the desire to go to karaoke boy bars. Many new bargirls go to boy bars after they first arrive in Pattaya, but usually stop going after a while. Maybe they focus on making money, or they get tired of waking up at 2 pm, or they find a boyfriend. But some never stop. There is a considerable number of ladies over 40 who go with very young Thai men. Often these ladies will hook up with very old Farangs, and see their Thai boys on the side. Of course, when their money is gone, so is their honey.

Shan State and Thailand
According to Wikipedia, the majority in Mae Hong Son province are now Shan speakers, refugees from the Shan state. The Shan language diverged from Thai maybe 1,000 years ago, maybe more, about the time that Polish diverged from Russia. So, the grammer is probably similar, and there are many words in common, but a lot of differences. Having suffered through Spanish/Portuguese and Russian/Ukrainian, I can relate. When going to Brazil, the first day or two, I can't understand anything, even though I am fluent in Spanish. A couple of days more, and I can get by in the local language.

Shan State and Thailand
Farangs tend to think of people living in Myanmar as Burmese and thus mostly illegal immigrants here who can't speak Thai. But there are 5 million Tai speaking people living in the Shan state just north of Thailand in Myanmar. Without knowing the history, one would think of the Shan state as just a part of Thailand that was separated for one reason or another, but that's not the case. The Tai people in the Shan state came from China, as did the Thai people, but much later than the Thais, and they didn't pass through Laos or Thailand, they came south from China with the Mongols (Kublai Khan), entered central Burma, and then were tasked with conquering Northeast Burma for the Mongols. So, even though they originated in the same areas of China as the Thai people, they have no common history, after the Thai departure from China. Despite that, Thailand conquered the Shan state during WWII, because they could (Britain held colonial oversight over Burma before WWII, but Japan mostly dislodged them during the war). The end of WWII forced Thailand to return the Shan state, and as far as I know, there is no longer any interest in Thailand in reunification. There is a civil war in Myanmar now, and some rebels express interest in a free Tai state. Any insights you may have in the Shan state would be appreciated.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
A social media quirk: bargirls often post photos of themselves in elevators. This is code for: "I am going to see a customer", as they normally don't live in buildings with elevators.

Odd Habits of Bargirls
Bargirls spend a lot of time dealing with messages from lonely guys in other countries. And a lot of those lonely guys are control freaks (which is why they are lonely guys). So, the bargirl has to hide her Thai boyfriend if its a video chat.

Being Single VS Marrying a Thai Lady
Some bar girls dream of marrying a Farang, but often times the dream becomes a nightmare. If the Farang is young, money may be tight, and after a long marriage, the lady may find herself back in the bar, older and poorer. If the Farang is old, he may be smart enough to avoid showering the lady with cash and gold, and when the relationship ends, she may have to go back to the bar. I have seen these scenarios many times. Especially in the case of old Farang husbands, the lady may become very frustrated that she is trapped in a marriage and not rolling in cash. This frustration can play out many ways, none good.

Bar Girl / Prostitute.
Not exactly. Sometimes they get angry if a customer disrespects them.

Bar Girl / Prostitute.
In Pattaya, there are a lot of short time rooms in hotels near bars, precisely for customers who barfine ladies short time. So, yes, some Farang bars, particularly open bars, may not have rooms on site. Same for Beach Road ladies who go to short time hotels. These are not the same as Love motels. Conversely, Thai bars typically don't have ST rooms, or nearby ST hotels.

Bar Girl / Prostitute.
Actually, by "Nong Prue", I am referencing the Darkside. But, the number of Farangs who live there is relatively low, compared to Pattaya, and they are spread out over a wide area. A soapy massage place needs a large concentration of customers nearby. As for Indians, they will generally go in groups, presumably negotiating price ahead of time. They will arrive in a minivan. I often walk by the Honey Massage I, and often see Indians coming and going. I never see Farangs or Thai customers. I suspect the Pattaya Tai soapy massage to be closer to the Indians south of Pattaya Tai.

Bar Girl / Prostitute.
The soapy massage places in Pattaya cater mostly to Indian customers. Previously, they had largely Farang customers. The big hint is their location: Soi Honey, 2nd Road, and Pattaya Tai. As you know, Thailand starts east of 3rd Road, west of 3rd Road, its Farang Disneyland, but that's where the soapy massage places are. If you could point out a soapy massage place in Nong Prue, that would make your point, since relatively few Farangs or Indians are out there.
