  1. the numbers are all guesses. I went to Foodmart in Jomtien yesterday. It was jammed with Russians a couple of months ago, not there were almost zero. My condo building is becoming very quiet as the Russians go home. I guess the Azur Air charters from UTapao are not flying back empty.
  2. I was in Immigration jail in Russia. I flew from Moscow to Dnipro in Ukraine, but the plane never made it (don't know why we landed instead in Rostov). Because everyone on the plane was already checked out of Russia via Immigration but we were still in Russia, we were marched off the plane in silence and taken to a holding cell, where we sat. No explanation.
  3. because the older single Brit ladies don't come to Thailand, they go to Africa.
  4. A Thai lady would never ask her Tilac for money, big loss of face. The rest of your story is standard Thai lady marketing. I run into it all the time. Rather than accept their offers for free services, I just pay them, which is ultimately what they want. No strings attached.
  5. This is a classic post. Even an 18 year old can have excellent marketing skills. Her Thai boyfriend can be a great motivator.
  6. I had an early experience that soured me on long term relationships with Thai ladies. I took a day tour with a group that included a Farang and his Thai wife, and she harangued him all day, clearly unhappy with the relationship. Many experiences since then, I knew a female bar owner who admitted she didn't like boom-boom with her husband, as she was "too old" (42). But, she managed trips back home to Isaan whenever possible, and always came back happy. And all the ladies with long term Farang boyfriends who come to my condo, get drunk, and then I have to shoo them away like a fly, repeatedly (I don't play with ladies with Farang "boyfriends").
  7. Nope. No problem scoring a wife back home. I would have to live back home in that case. No fun. Best solution for me: live in Thailand and go with rentals.
  8. Leaving Thailand via Suvarnaphumi was a nightmare last week. Entering Thailand via Suvarnaphumi yesterday was no problem. Apparently many are leaving Thailand at the end of High Season, few are coming.
  9. I was traveling with a Thai lady. We were both upgraded.
  10. On the flip side of that story, on the way back from Danang to BKK, I was given a free upgrade to the front of the plane (Business Class seating). No idea why.
  11. I remember my 2nd birthday, a few things from when I was 3, and lots from when I was 4. I remember going to sleep after my 4th birthday thinking that I was getting old. I was clearly paying attention when when I was 3, but not a lot was happening.
  12. On the flip side ... I flew Economy the other day (it happens), and there was a gentleman from a southern Asian country seated near me who insisted on a free upgrade to Business class. He kept marching up to Business class, only to be marched back by the staff. They had to keep a lookout to.make sure he didn't sneak up and take a seat.
  13. I flew out of Suvarnaphumi on the 26th. The Immigration line was incredibly long, stretching all the way back to Security. In my area, there were 6 counters. Only 3 were staffed. Clearly, the staffing system at Suvarnaphumi airport has failed. It's almost as if there are no people living in the Lat Krabang area who could be trained to stamp passports.
  14. yes. Many. Russia. Brazil. Actually, it's a common practice.
  15. It's a very common story in Thailand: a girl falls in love with a Thai man, knocks out a kid or two, the Thai man loses interest in her and runs off. Not too many career choices for the lady, so she heads for Pattaya, while her mother takes care of the children. The question arises of whether the lady will actually save any money and send some home to mother, or blow her earnings on karaoke boys. I know some ladies in their 40s who never got past the karaoke boy level. So, I guess we could start a discussion on the ethics of being a karaoke boy. Were they traumatized, as well?
  16. I could pay a lady to come clean my condo ..... or pay a lady to come to my condo, clean it, and do something else.
  17. I live in a North facing condo, so have very límited opportunities for solar. I plan to install about 600 watts of panels to feed into a grid tie inverter. Another 200 or 300 watts to Charge up a small battery bank that will power an emergency puré sine wave Inverter. These panels will only receive full Sun a few months of the year.
  18. Many ladies who say they work sideline would be surprised to learn they are newbies, or have a full time job at the office, or work in a body massage shop. All they mean is that they work bar without a salary. Maybe they have a sponsor, so they don't want to work regular hours. Or they work until they find a customer and go home.
  19. I pay online vía Lazada. The trick is to input the correct account number, as there are many numbers on the bill.
  20. I expect to run my aircon 24/7, so I am installing solar in my condo to offset the cost.
  21. Almost got it. Per the bargirls, "sideline " refers to ladies who work bar, but are not salaried. Freelancers, but in a bar.
  22. There are 6 Passport control booths where I am now. Only 3 have staff. The line goes all the way back to Security on the floor above. The problem is lack of staffing, not capacity.
  23. The traffic at Suvarnaphumi is unbelievable now. Immigration is completely swamped.
