  1. We are in a natural cooling trend, so human caused warming first has to overcome natural cooling forces, and then force warming. So maybe the answer is "more than 100%".
  2. The data does not support your assertion: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/understanding-climate/climate-change-global-temperature
  3. I use 1979 as a reference point because that is when satellite began global temperature sensing for the first time, ie our dataset begins in 1979. Prior to 1979, scientist use less reliable methods.
  4. have the last 7 years been warmer than the last few decades?
  5. I hope you can understand that it's impossible to judge climate change using a 2 year datapoint. Kind of like those politicians who claim that climate change isn't real because of winter.
  6. so...your answer to the global warming debate is to cherrypick 2 years. Please tell us about the overall trend since 1979.
  7. Looking on the bright side, my laundry dries faster on my balcony.
  8. CO2 is just one of several pollutants that cause warming. Your question of the importance of global warming is relevant. Getting back to this topic: is the current warming a short term phenomenon, or is it the beginning of a trend of higher temperatures? This question is indeed important if people eventually have to retreat from areas that are permanently flooded or too hot.
  9. Nope. There was a dip in the 1990s due to the explosion of Mt. Pinatubo. Take out that dip and the trend is obvious. More to the point, the increase in CO2 concentrations in the atmosphere lead subsequent global increases in temperature, as demonstrated by actual reality. If you don't believe that CO2 in the atmosphere causes warming, then you are clinging to a religious belief, not science.
  10. You have to look at the trend. https://climateknowledgeportal.worldbank.org/country/thailand/climate-data-historical The trend is not good. Yes, April is generally the warmest month in Thailand, but this April is particularly warm.
  11. No matter how hot it is in Pattaya, Isaan is much hotter.
  12. on my aircon this is called "Dry" mode.
  13. My condo faces north, so the Sun only heats up my condo for a few months of the year.
  14. Solar activity is pretty much a random walk over the medium term. There is no correlation between current warming and solar activity.
  15. Volcanoes cool the planet, via emissions of silicon dioxide. It's fairly trivial to measure noxious gas output from all the cars and motor in Thailand and compare against temperature over the years.
  16. Nope. No one is throwing coal on the fire, if your "fire" is the Sun.
  17. There is no "magma" on the Sun. There are solar flares, but these do not impact our weather: https://www.climate.gov/news-features/climate-qa/do-solar-storms-cause-heat-waves-earth#:~:text=Because the energy does not, measurable influence on surface temperature. Therefore, your post is misinformation.
  18. I don't remember an April as hot as this month. If we don't get rain soon, it's going to be unbearable. And, if Summer is hotter, watch out! I have started working on sunshades for my condo, using solar panels. Anything else useful in cooling my place? Maybe this is just a random weather event, maybe it's the onset of Global Warming
  19. "No one is throwing water near my bar today".
  20. the ladies in the bars are bored and sad. No customers in the bars. They tell me no one is throwing water today.
  21. Day 19 is some sort of holiday. Some bars and shops will close. Probably lots of water throwing.
  22. I took a baht bus down Thappraya Road yesterday mid-day, nobody was throwing water.
  23. Yeah, I get those as well. The lady who sent me the attached message really did stop working bar. But she has 2 other jobs, so she has money. Perhaps her boyfriend needs money for his moto.
  24. mostly deter customers by threatening to drown them if they come near the bar.
  25. Water throwers can be anywhere now at any time. Beachware recommended, and put your cellphone in a plastic bag.
