I'll be buggered, my Mrs to a T, lost count of the number of times I've had to pull her out of other people's way. Weird. Away with the pixies. Coincidentally, experienced my first incidence of rudeness/racism? yesterday. replacing True wireless with AIS fibre, team of 3 young blokes, the one who led in, simply ignored my greeting, looked past me and said hello to my wife. Any questions,he addressed the reply to my wife. Flabbergasted. Almost made me sorry I'd retired the sjambok. Just kidding????

Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?
Albaby replied to Dghart001's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I accept what you say Jack, the op says he has accommodation in Bangkok. In that case an agent might be his best option. I've got to say if I were to repeat the exercise of the bank ac and then the yellow book, I'd pay for assistance. So frustrating. -
Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?
Albaby replied to Dghart001's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
About 6 weeks ago, went to Cm Immigration to confirm my address, paid 500B and returned the next day to pick up a white slip which Cpt Jack tells me was probably a Cert of Residence, my passport and my Oz drivers license. Before anyone jumps on me, the bank specifically asked for the DL when I first applied for an a/c. I didn't have a yellow book at that stage and it wasn't asked for. The same documentation was required when I applied for the yellow book at what my wife calls the Municipality, the only difference being that the "Municipality" wanted translations of the passport and DL. Hope that helps. Gawd I think I need a good lie down???? -
Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?

First up...????Yes you are right about the timing of the 800K,an egregious mistake on my part. However, it will have to be "seasoned"by the time your 3 months is up and you want to progress to the 12m "extension". OMG another unforgivable error on my part. Where would we be without your kind guidance. The White slip"is proof from Immigration that you have confirmed your present address. The op will also need to present that at his local municipality along with his passport and DL along with translations of those documents to get his yellow book. I am merely trying to give the OP the details of my recent "lived" experience. I confess I'm not an all knowing Deity like your good self, but hey, I muddle through. Cheers -
Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?

Immigration would laugh at you if you asked and you don't need it. As I just mentioned TM30, passport, home country d/l and bob's your uncle. Now waiting for my 800k to mature then progress to the 3mth visa, followed by the retirement visa. Simples. So many opinions posing as facts posted by numpties is frustrating. -
Thai Bank Account for retirement...new rules?
Albaby replied to Dghart001's topic in Thai Visas, Residency, and Work Permits
I opened an ac recently with Bangkok Bank in Chiang Mai on a tourist visa with the white slip TM30 from immigration CM, my passport and my home country photo drivers license. No problem. I also obtained my yellow book with those same items. PS There was no mention of any insurance. Note also with the TM30 there is a 24h wait . You pick it up the next day. GL -

Yep, same process for me with St George. If I used St George, the fee would be double and 1BHT per 1AUD dif in the exchange rate!!! -

Postman faces 200,000 baht baht bill for lost parcel

For 5 years I've been using Sabuy Express for parcels between Oz and Chiang Mai. They always check the contents and charge accordingly. They then shrinkwrap and despatch. Never had a problem. -
